People would just farm the lower sites. Instead they now have to actually commit to reap rewards and benefits. Things don’t need to be easier in EVE, it’s already at ground floor.
I’m not sure that logic tracks with me, if I’m honest.
We already have a method that newer players can get involved with the event, via the exploration. I’m just suggesting a way that they could get involved with the combat side of it. Rather than relegating them to just doing one activity the whole time.

They can, all they have to do is put in the effort to get informed and it’s really just one google search away and then, perhaps, decide to make some friends and team up. Also I highly doubt you’re in this “for the newbies”, this is about you personally isn’t it.
If you’re lazy and clueless you don’t get to have rewards.
They can read or they can not. But it is the Worse Halloween event in a game and I’m not about to prettify it for them. No idea what relationship you have with CCP but for me, they are extremely far from being my boss or any sort of superior. I don’t have those, I’m self employed (I’ve been an indie game dev for 10 years now)

I mean by all means go to CCP HQ. Tell them that all their dev hours from the coding, art, anti botting, etc departments mean nothing and this was the worst event in the game. IN THE INDUSTRY according to OP. I am sure you will make a ton of friends there. 
Maybe… Just Maybe using words to deescalate tensions could actually work to find a solution for all? Is that fair enough?

Welp a monopoly like CCP is not just going to open source the game now would they?
I can assure you it’s all a jumbled mess as we still have POS sticks in EVE 20 years later. And only like 2 years ago we just got the log off to character selection button.
For at least 18 years of EVE people had to CLOSE THE GAME. To log onto a different character. 
That’s a sorry excuse.
Maybe they should refactor some of it.
Well look at it from CCP’s view. All the original devs of EVE online are gone. So either they spend time possibly months up to a year and not have any development or just keep adding new stuff to the game and meet profit goals.
If CCP said we are going to pause EVE Vanguard and spend the next 3 months working to remove POS sticks from the game there would be quite an outcry as people like me bought subs because of EVE Vanguard.
It’s a tough choice and we know the route they have chosen.
Sounds similar to the training time for a claymore.
Maybe it would do them some good to learn their own codebase.
