Worse Halloween event in a game - thank you EVE business dep

Whatever the reason is, I see a lot of people who are just terrified of losing a ship. Which was the entire point of my original post in this thread.

Even if my idea is rubbish, I’d like to see something to encourage people to get involved in the blapping who normally wouldn’t. Because it’s fun, and it’s a thrill, whether you’re on the hunt or you’re putting yourself in danger.

But at this point I’m just repeating my opinion, so I’ll stop. People disagree, that’s cool.

You’ve completely missed the point

I didn’t, but you point doesn’t matter because it doesn’t change anything. If your goal is to “entice newer players to try pvp” then this wouldn’t help. Even more because they’d get farmed and then the next group of forum posts about “this is terrible” would pop up.

This doesn’t change anything, veterans will still show up in pre-rolled max boosters in a high grade pod flying an abyssal rolled Hookbill.

exactly.

Any sort of official event to “get people to try pvp” is doomed to fail because all it means is a steady stream of EZ targets for well prepared vets. Malcanis’ Law applies here, as it always does.

The point you’re missing is that newbies and rookies are bad by the nature of their skills. Those 5%-per-level hull bonuses mean a lot. Having Frigate 3 or 4 for the first week or so of their Alpha state means they are going to get torn to shreds unless a lot of newbies happen to flood the warzone against each other at the same time. Which is not what tends to happen.

So the rookies lose more frequently, which is a good thing. It is supposed to teach them that it is OK to lose a ship and become murder hobos in lowsec. What actually happens is that they hate losing their ship and so do activities that don’t cause ship loss. Then they become rich high sec mission runners that get very upset when some more difficult PvE site shows up and blows up their ship to smithereens. And then you get threads like this.

This is what’s bizarre about this event. It’s clearly designed to encourage pvp (80% loot) but they made the sites hard enough that you need a blingy non noob ship and fit.
The only pvp that will ever encourage is ganking.

Just to be constructive, the rewards and difficulty should scale according to the security status of the system. In 1.0, easy carebear event with low reward, in 0.6 more rewards but harder (needs more bling in your carebear barge).

That way the Halloween event would be even better. Lot of mining-marauders are not leaving the 1.0-0,9 systems and thats against the games spirit.

You did. It actually does change something, and the stated goal wasn’t to entice players into pvp. They would not “get farmed” and who cares if there is another forum post.

You really ought to read and understand before replying so quickly.

It does, and i doubt that - there is no incentive for them. Some may, most won’t. Most of them will be doing the higher paying sites. And this would allow young players access to the content rather than being outright too difficult.

You two have zero imagination, and poor reading comprehension. May as well never change anything because it won’t matter lawl

Who is flooding what? This entire post is misdirected nonsense.

Why do you bother to reply, let alone double-post, when the substance of what you have to say is “I can’t understand”. I get it. You did this last time. I already know you will never understand words I clobber together in a sentence because they are from me.

You’re only informing yet another thread’s audience that you don’t understand. And rather than have a dialog, just pretend I’m the one with both a reading comprehension problem and spouting nonsense.

That’s probably why they work for free.

Regardng 1 and 3 (difficulty):

This is what players wanted. When I was new player these events were easy, anyone could do them, you needed just t1 cruiser for it.

But bittervets cried to CCP that they want challenge, that it is way too easy. Possibly there was an ulterior motive to prevent noobs to contest. Or maybe there wasn’t - the request wasn’t that selfish, CCP just implemented it bad as always. Instead of making the sites harder and more rewarding it in lowsec and nullsec they are, afaik, giving as a single difficulty in all types of space with same loot table. Because it is easier right?

Also, ever since triglavian, every new PVE content NPCs has this new AI and new design of applying all possible ewars and warp disrupt especially, orbiting with high speed, being more tanky and doing much more dps than they should be given their hull. rewarping to player if he tries to snipe from distance and even podding player capsules Personally I do not find these new NPCs fun at all, but it is fine I don’t play EVE for PVE so I can avoid this content.

Regarding 2:

Welcome to EVE, this was always possible, it is nothing new. It is called content. Be a thief yourself if you think it is more efficient or prepare for it and kill the thief after he steals it. If you can’t do that, that’s your problem and maybe you could try socialize, it is a multiplayer game, join corp do it with friends especially if you can’t solo the site.

Easy sites do exist, they are the exploration sites.

In the current event the ships aren’t unrealistically strong. I looked at most of the hulls the sites were throwing at me and their abilities really make sense. Crucifiers and Curses neut/TD, Harbingers and Oracles do damage, others point, scram, web. So… strong compared to the belt- or mission rats, yes, but in no way unrealistic. They are still a LOT weaker than capsuleer ships would be.

Also: The fits I use have ~250dps tank on a cruiser hull. One cap battery and a decent excess regen counters all the neut (which also isn’t particulary high). These sites are really not that hard for any HAC (no need to bling at all) or a group of newbies in T1 cruisers/cheap Gnosis.

So … you’re guessing.

Not this time

Think of where your skills will be at this time, next year, and the event will be easy to run.

No I just tested it again. You may be right, it’s either time based or there’s just an element of randomness to the spawns.
