Worth blinging a Lvl 4 mission ship?

Blinged drake or no drake at all.

Gila is the new Drake.

I prefer to bling pve ships so I can free up room and make the fits stronger/apply better etc. However I do my pve activities in null and have very good reaction time thus never been caught.

Aye, I’m working on that. When I manage to position myself well and have all the rest in order (resists, ammo, drones) there’s several missions I can run without really worrying much about the tank and many where the booster is plenty enough. It’s just that there are some missions where bad placement will mean a lot of incoming fire ripping that shield down.

But as said I’m improving. Been doing some lvl 3 security missions for rep lately, in a cruiser (SFI) instead of the more common battlecruiser. Those have really got me thinking about what I’m doing! Was pretty pleased to manage the L3 version of “The Blockade” in the old tub - it took a lot of kiting, micromanaging drones and a few warpouts but it worked.

saw the fit you’re talking about and yeah, there’s a lot to be said from that fit. first thing im gonna recommend is that you dont invest on expensive modules, rather, improve your skills until you can fly the ship at maximum stats on everything (as high as Alpha Skills allow in case you’re not Omega).

as for the ship, i’d rather not to look at premade fits and instead try to tinker on a program like Pyfa or EFT. however, if you want, i’d recommend this fit instead:

[Maelstrom, PvE]

Damage Control II
Power Diagnostic System II
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II

100MN Monopropellant Enduring Afterburner
Large Shield Booster II

EM Ward Field II

1200mm Heavy ‘Scout’ Artillery I, EMP L
1200mm Heavy ‘Scout’ Artillery I, EMP L
1200mm Heavy ‘Scout’ Artillery I, EMP L

Large Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Large Projectile Collision Accelerator I
Large Projectile Metastasis Adjuster I

Warrior II x5
Valkyrie II x5
Hornet EC-300 x5

Fusion L x1
Phased Plasma L x1
EMP L x2

i have a preference towards sustained repping so 2 batteries and a power diagnostic system ensure i get at least close to 10 minutes of constant repping power with a T2 LSB. i dont think you need too much repping power if you’re using dedicated hardeners for the damage type of the NPCs anyways.

plus it also frees the rig slots for something else. in this case a damage rig, a tracking rig and an EM resistance to patch the hole in shield resists.

What the heck is that Mach fit supposed to do? That fit makes my brain hurt and my eyes bleed.

it’s supposed to make your eyes hurt and your brain bleed.

it warps fast and holds a lot of cargo obviously
duh
although i would probably replace the turrets with salvagers and tractor beams

don’t forget the cyno.

Ah yes, that was a travel fit, but it moves to the new mission, refits, and clears it.
I think it carries a Leopard.
I forgot what else.
It’s still a bling fit for missions and Lvl 4 missions, and it was worth it.
The only thing it cannot do is go in restricted area.
Anything else it can get into, it clears.

The salvagers are not needed as this is handled by a Noctis.
I usually don’t sell the site bookmark though it should be possible.
The one (1) tractor beam is to loot the wrecks while shooting them.
The Mobile Tractor Unit, takes care of the rest of the wrecks.

This is an updated fit:
[Machariel, Machariel] MY CAR
Centus C-Type Large Armor Repairer

Republic Fleet Fusion L x2617
Republic Fleet Titanium Sabot L x2510
Cap Booster 800 x22
Nanite Repair Paste x286
Standard Frentix Booster x2

Also, the cannon’s are probably out of date and need to be upgraded to Tech II ones, which I probably trained to use by now.

I carry a mobile depot and the Salvage drones take care of the wrecks.
Also, I have 2 other Gyrostabilizer II in the Cargo Hold, in case.

ive actually seen a few people fly those in low-sec lately
it kinda makes me chuckle when i see them

It doesn’t work very good on the Jita undock depending…

The Machariel got an additional medium slot, and one less low slot.
My DCUII was red.

God I remember those days, it was fun. When I started running level 4’s, I always had a buddy with me. I remember the extra room of AE, my friend and I saying, “Nope not a prayer of tanking this” and warping out (long before rigs, and affordable t2 items (in those days a DCU II was 30 mil in Rens….)). Scrimping and saving for my first Raven. The feeling of accomplishment of completing my first level 4 solo. So many good times, so many good friends have left EvE forever… Anyway, when you’re ready to try level 4’s, start with a buddy. Learn the ropes and the triggers, don’t treat EvE like a race. Enjoy it, there’s no other game like it.

I definitely agree. I sold my Kronos for a Tengu. I don’t regret the decision, but I do miss my Kronos.
PS: Rattlesnakes are amazing.

Have things changed that much in 4 years? I used a Nightmare for most level 4 missions, far cheaper than a Marauder. But it’s fully blinged, have never had an issue in a level 4 mission with other than salvagers.
I should note it’s only faction/deadspace fit, not officer.

Nope, thy didn’t. Only the price tag on the Nightmare did.

Rattlesnake or Marauders - you can’t really go wrong with either. The Hivaa ballistic modules gives you quite a few options with the Rattlesnake by freeing up 2-3 low slots. RHMLs seem to offer the best choice in combination with heavy drones (it’s quite easy to extend missle range to 100km).
