No life left to hesitate,
We took that deathless breath.
We danced as star-crossed lovers
Steel chariots wheeling 'round a pendulum sun
Interludes of blood and lust.
But I’d no sooner hear the song-
as the pale of their faces emerged,
a hundred pairs of fangs to bare.
A great piercing in my chest,
The great gold flame cries out her fate.
And I spiral past her pyre,
Her cries muted by the grave.
Now we remain, adrift, alone,
No life left to hesitate.
