CCP has offered subscription discounts in the past - $49 for 6 months and $99 for 12 months but I haven’t seen that offer for a couple of years. They also occasionally bundle free MCT with a subscription offer - most recently last October and that is effectively a 50% discount if you have ALTs. I’ve gotten some nice skins (Sariel’s Flames) as part of a subscription offer. The DLC’s are also occasionally discounted 50% and they generally contain some Omega time and MCT certificates.
So there are deals if you’re in a position to take advantage of them.
Even cheaper rates will help stablize income for ccp, which will actually cause their annual income to increase. Stability > Spikes.
More importantly, a discounted rate will help encourage people to not only come back, but also stay here playing. If not a discount at least multiple character training as a free add on for the yearly rate.
You already get a significant discount by buying a one year subscription instead of paying month by month, and it is already the obvious correct choice for anyone who expects to play for a year. Making an even larger discount is unlikely to increase subscription purchases, it’s just going to reduce the income CCP gets from their current sales.
