Begs the question, if its ok to lock transit through a gate to a 6 hour timer, how is it OK for filaments to have a timer in minutes instead of hours also ?

6 hours seems insane. 30min would have been more than enough to mean null blocks couldn’t use it for reinforcement fleets or quick responses. But short enough to make it still a viable short cut for players seeking pvp on a smaller scale.
Also if it was 30min and station had cool features people might be encouraged to actually do stuff there.
6 hours is an insane nerf. Null blocks can still bridge and fly across map in less than 30min sooooo why bother with such a extreme that will make the system pointless…
Maybe that’s the whole intent - to eliminate it as a waypoint. “You can check-out any time you like but you can never leave”
The general consensus on Reddit seems to be mostly positive and all for "elimination of the ‘null-sec highway’.
Long overdue. Tbh, those things CCP could have known right from the start. Good changes, Power Projection has to be cut down from all angles.

No idea what Zarzak actually was used for.
Essentially a null-sec highway, aka: power projection. So now you can only leave immediately through the gate that brought you or wait for 6 hours to continue.
Yes… I’m so happy to have to jump 53 gates again to reach desto, intense gameplay!

Were those systems so centric that they could be used as an umbrella staging ?
My understanding is yes, it was being used as a shortcut.
Honestly I kinda think it would be interesting if needlejacks reset only when you docked. That means if you jump to friendly space you can dock up and try again but jumping into hostile space means you can’t just use em as a get-out-of-jail-free card.
The only issue here is that no where in the patch notes did it say that you can enlist for insurgencies in Zarzakh, which means you jump in from turnur, go AFK for 6 hours, jump out to G-0, enlist, jump back, and either shipcaster out, or wait another 6 hours.

Well maybe if everyone was not blue to their next 5 neighbours maybe the number of jumps would be less as well ?

Zarzakh was never intended to be an intergalactic highway, the intention was that it would be accessible from multiple corners of the game.
Because of how it was implemented people used it as intergalactic highway though.
I’m glad to see CCP stopped that with this timer; distance in EVE should matter.
You can take shortcuts through Thera, Drifter wormholes or Pochven - the intentional shortcuts of the game.
Zarzakh wasn’t meant as shortcut and CCP messed up when they connected that system to four corners of the universe without a way to stop people from using Zarzakh only to go to other corners of the universe.
