Can Fenris please add an icon that shows up when a new pilot shows up in local and have it disappear after 5 seconds? Having it show up in the same location as the online buddy symbol would be ideal, I think. (right-aligned of the character’s name in chat.)

I would prefer if local chat became less of an infallible intel tool though, instead of more.
This isn’t just a QoL change, it’s a nerf to roaming and hunting, and a buff to safety resulting in less destruction.
Instead of increasing the visibility of the names with +1s I’d like instead those names to be less visible and show up later, once they drop gate cloak instead of immediately upon entering system.

Why not both: only show up after gatecloak is broken or a few seconds later, but also add a sign next to new names in the list that lasts a few seconds?
Though after the Blackout incident FCCCP will not dare to even think about such a possibility of delaying local in any way in fear of triggering the wrath of the nullberas again. 
They’re two requests in opposite directions.
Local has unintentionally become the most-used intel tool in the game. Not the directional scanner, which has counters, nor the overview, which has counters, nor combat probes to find targets, which also has counters.
Local chat has no counterplay mechanics, no local-immune ships, no cloaks and no ECCM scripts. If you enter local you just show up there, visible for everyone.
Where the suggestion to add +1 makes this visibility even more visible, I think local should be less visible. So to add both the delay after gatecloak and a +1 is counterproductive.
Local chat should first get some counterplay mechanics before we increase it’s visibility even further.
What I’ve meant is add the markers after some delay. Though this is all just hypothetical as above noted FCCCP will not dare reintroducing delayed local in any form again.
Though they might still consider this market so best if work with what seems possible, so perhaps to reduce its impact have the marker delayed and only show up for a short time?
ctrl+a has no delay and works today… blackout was fun, tbh, have it trigger after decloak or some other delay (like say, 2 minutes, so if you have some instawarper you won’t be seen) would be fine
