This is odd.
I tried logging in an Alpha on my laptop and it worked. No Problem.
Tried logging in an Omega on my desktop - won’t do it (socket closed message every time).
Switched it around. Tried logging the same Omega toon in on the laptop - works fine.
Tried logging the same Alpha in on the desktop - won’t do it.
My desktop and laptop sit 3 feet away from each other and connect to the same Provider through the same modem. The only difference is the laptop connects via WiFi and the Desktop via a cable.
Does Not work for me either, I have uninstalled and reinstalled eve client, wiped hard drive, and reset cache. I can select character but it hangs and says “socket closed”. Client was working fine until the DDOS today
Try unpinning the account(s) on the launcher (thumbtack icon on right of account name), doing what OP talks about, then shutting off your computer completely, turning back on and logging into eve client.
Wow a lot has gone on since I logged on and was just floating here in space cloaked in some ratters system again, and watching the news on the latest hacking of things… this ddos got me researching some things now… and all this text. still many having issues with connecting I see… that sux. I spent all day here waiting, woke up around 8am, its 4 pm now I been on maybe … idk half hour, an hour?
What is going on I see almost 20 000 players connected but when I try to play I can login, select my character then I get a “socket closed” error.
I tried on all my alts every single one had the same error. I don’t use any VPN or anything is there something special to do to play eve online today ?
