2018/04/28 - 11:28 UTC - Connectivity Issues - DDoS Attack

I also was able to log in after a reboot.

Just reporting that when trying to login to the game that I get stuck at the authenticator screen. Pressing ‘Enter’ or ‘Continue’ didn’t work. I was able to get on these forums using the authenticator through the web interface though. I’m running on Linux, but it was working just the other day. No changes to this PC. It’s dedicated for EVE at this point.

I’m getting the same socket issue. Rebooting didn’t help.

The wierd thing is that when I log in my alpha account and get booted, logging in my omega account gets an alpha warning. I have to explicitly start my alpha account again and then log off at the character screen before the cluster will let my omega account try to login again (and still get booted :frowning: )

EDIT Finally managed to log in after restarting the PC and my DSL router.

at least it was free.

We’re back to the same thing that happened after the last attack a few days ago. Many people can’t log in. Just gives a black screen+socket closed after character is selected.

Navigator was on here saying that is because they are ‘scrubbing’ the network. Not sure what that means.

Would you care to explain exactly how that could be done, Oh Great Expert ??

CCP please !!!
i rebooted pc and box still get socket closed :((

can not log in account help center also

Okay so I tried logging but everyone it loads up sometimes closes, Ive resent the computer, hopefully it works this time :weary:

I think you miss what I was asking  I am well aware of what a DDOS is I wondered about this DDOS in particular, like what was it targeting, what was it doing, raw syn flood, or was is crafted packets to do application attacks/resource starvation or overloading, was it targeting specific services like authentication of just everything, was it targeting by IP or URL, what was the distribution of the attacks (source countries), was it targeting just US based services or all endpoints for the say the authentication service… that’s what I mean by is there or will there be a technical report we get access to?

What’s this “suspect list” ? Are they assuming anyone who was connected at the time of the attack was a DDOS’er ?

Whoever it is has DDoSed 4 times, so they know they can do it, let’s hope that CCP gets DDoS protection, before this happens everyday!

I’m still suspect socket closed

They’d be very unwise to publish their vulnerabilities until they’re no longer vulnerable …

Still sucked with “socket closed”. I’ve tested through APIs : the server see me loggued in…but that’s not the case.

Well, I logged into the game, was rather slow getting in, thought I’d get the ‘socket’ message but I got in, now just sitting in station here and I can already tell the game is laggy so not gonna undock, will just log out and hope everything is running fine later tonight.

USA Southern California

This is really annoying that all of us still can’t get on for a service that one way or another pay for, should get a day added to our accounts at the minimum.

That’s not entirely true eve existed in 2001 it just wasn’t available for everyone to play on at that time

Scrubbing… think of it as a customs office of sorts. All traffic directed to CCP servers is routed through there first and all terrorists and criminals are denied passage.
Now the tricky part is to figure out who is evil and who is not… a lot of those checks are automated but there is always some human input and knowledge required, too.
The bad guy can put on a different disguise at a moments notice and adapting to that again and again and again takes time…

Please update EVE_status twitter post. 2 hours after you claim your server is up, dozens of people still report socket close disconnects immediately after login in each and every time, I as well experience this still. Nothing has changed. Please update, fix or give some feedback. Thank you. Sincerely.

i have already lost estimated 400 mil
