Can’t login too…
Now just out of curiosity I see a lot of people getting in via vpn, I know a vpn encapsulates your data and pushes it (I guess routing it through a different server) But can anyone explain to me why this works? Other then if it does make it’s own route, it might bypass something else along the standard route?
You’re an idiot. Stop posting.
If we got to pay for VPN lets move EVE to the dark web, reinstall Captains Quarters and opt for naked dancing girls, pole, all that. Looking at other space games, depressing, nothing like EVE but I can’t play EVE so I don’t know. Still a battle to get logged on, latency off the scale, no chat. Damn shame I tossed all my old Dune2 floppies, other than EVE that’s the only game I ever really got into. Going into withdrawal…
I use a vpn for work travel etc so I figured I would give it a try since someone above said it worked for them. Mine is only 6 dollars a month through PIA. It is definitely worth having to secure yourself in hotels, as well as from snooping ISPs a bit.
Also to the person above, it works because they are having either a routing or some other issue (DDOS, or even their CDN network accidentally sink-holing everything). I believe the servers are still hosted in London so your skipping a lot of the potential locations for issues.
I have yet to be able to login today.
THE UK SERVERS HAVE BREXITED, it’s all the damn British fault !! (again)
back to serious, keep us updated thx, it’s really annoying,
and yes , a compensation would be more than welcome, it’s been too long.
did they forget to feed the cyber hampsters that run that chat servers
thank you for the answer makes sense.
I justed looked at mine for you. Yes, packets are encapsulated in TLS1.2 over TCP transport. But at the other end of the secure tunnel there must be network address translation too, because none of the addresses on my interfaces or addresses shown on the packets are the same as what is shown as my “public IP address” on websites. In short, not only routing but also the source IP address is faked. Which means that your real IP address might be blocked by a filter somewhere but the faked might not.
Don’t forget the black jack. Hookers and black jack.
VPN is NOT the solution for every one, tried VPNing to London, and Ireland
does not work
maybe they should spend more resources on beefing up the security of their network instead of fanfests and other such ridiculousness
just tried Belgium and Netherlands, as they should not be adding lots of latency, still can not connect
I’m using a free vpn (I’m in USA East Coast TZ) and have been connected via a UK server for 3 hours with zero disconnects and no discernable lag. Local chat APPEARS to be working, but it’s really not. Corp mates left quite a while ago but they’re still showing up in local.
I also got in last night – counter said all of 1700 people were in. Made a crapton of isk ice mining and exploring in nullsec…could almost have gone afk. Always look at the bright side of (eve) life.
“maybe they should spend more resources on beefing up the security of their network instead of fanfests and other such ridiculousness”
Arent they make money with fanfests?
Same as Elliot. Log on and chat channel issues for several days. I live in Northeastern USA.

I can log in one account at a time ( usually my jita alt ) and it takes 30+ seconds to click on an item on the market , have it load , and then to update the buy/sell order.
If I try to log in a second account it won’t connect. So my ip is pretty obviously being throttled .
I live in Michigan in the United states if that helps at all.
It also seems that a VPN solves all of my issues but I’m not going to pay another subscription fee to play eve "
Well it sucks that chat is not working, but DSCAN is unreliable as well. Good luck on getting the jerk that is causing all these problems and if you do I hope that he / she is prosecuted both criminally and civilly.
So we have BGP problem again for some people? Including me
