I didn’t think it was possible to do that.
Linux (Manjaro KDE), Steam (Proton), x64 EVE. Works great and + 10-15 fps.
Since switching to the 64-bit build, I have been noticing an increase in the incidents where activating a module brings a delayed response. I depress a module, seeing the depressed icon change, and nothing happens for several seconds; sometimes it never activates. During combat, this leads to problems because when there is no apparent activation of the module, another click on the icon may actually shut off the module that now shows activated through midcycle. Reloading weapon sets also show this problem when using the reload all option, with one set reloading as normal and the second set being delayed or not reloaded. Overall, more “stuttering”, jump gate pauses, delayed docking,…etc. Looks great, though.
I read all of these posts and not sure what I am experiencing and did not see anything similar. I select the 64 bit client under settings (Release Version) with Download everything; Enable high DPI scaling and Enable hardware rendering all selected with everything else unchecked. Thread count is Default.
I am unable to start a 64 bit client session. It says it has been added to the startup queue but even after 2 minutes nothing starts yet the the Blue Arrow has changed to the Grey Box like normal. Take it out of 64 bit client option, and I can run my clients. Using AMD FX™ -8320. MSI 480RX graphics card with updated drivers and 64 bit version of Windows 10 Home.
Any ideas?
Try running it with the “Run clients with logging” box checked in the launcher. The LogLite app should open and gather logs, which might include a useful error message, or you can save the log and attach it to a support ticket or bug report.
Ran it as suggested. Still not logging into 64 bit client. Will send the log in a support ticket.
Thank you.
If you open your launcher, go to the menu, and choose Show in Explorer -> Launcher Logs, you’ll see additional logs that might be helpful to add to your support ticket. (Or, you may be able to see something in them that helps correct the problem yourself.)
same here
After working flawlessly since launch of 64Bit I now noticed an issue … after some time of active playing the FPS starts to drop, first to about 30fps later below 20.
This without reason, CPU/GPU have same load, same temperature, memory consumption is the same, just EvE runs with lower FPS.
When I restart the client it’s back to normal 60FPS.
Nvidia card / latest certified drivers / fixed window mode
Have same issue even with 32 bit client. Few days ago I had discus with friends about it and we think that might be garbage collector issue.
Its really annoying, I’m back on 32 as well which is a shame as it works perfectly for me in every other way and is so much nicer to use. its crazy you cant make the windows smaller on a 3840 x 2160 screen, I’d need an ultra wide monitor to fit even 3 windows open at the same time or something crazy like a 8k screen lol.
Did you tried scaling option in your system?
Any inside regarding the FPS issue?
UPDATE: It looks like, that if I restart the client once when the FPS degradation kicks in, it is stable afterwards. Weird.
UPDATE2: it seems connected to frequent session changes, e.g. ship death, fast system changes, death cloning, clone jumps. When I‘m just idling in station it apparently doesn’t occur.
But after a PvP session, with clone/ship switches, and fast hunts across systems, it kicks in. No way found to correct it with client running, only relog helps.
I’m experiencing the weird scaling issue others have reported. I’m on Windows 10 with 4k monitors and 150% scaling. It appears the 64-bit client applies this windows scaling and the 32-bit does not (preferred). I’m not toggling this off every time I play Eve.
Can you add Activate 64-bit client option to the old launchers too (the ones that still work)? I use launcher from June 2018, the updated launcher past that date gives windows error on start and won’t show the launcher window at all. Make 64-bit client by default, as some players can’t update launcher and there is no 64bit checkbox in the older versions. 16 years in the game industry and you call 64-bit new technology lol.
Please optimize the launcher so all the users can use and update it. 64 bi is locked out for players who cannot start the launcher ( but the game runs just fine from the old launchers).
Just out of curiosity, was the decision to make this the default client on what has become known as “Vile Rat Day” (who passed away, 9/11/2012) a conscious choice by CCP, or just a coincidence?
Madness! \o/
Oh wait, its not complete abandonement of 32 bit by devs. Or is it?
o/
While Yes its good that eve is going 64bit and can utilize the full power of many pilots systems but imho Forcing pilots to use the 64bit unless they opt out is pretty horrible move, its my biggest issue with others like microsoft forcing through updates that constantly restart my pc in mid eve gameplay, PersonallyI feel that it should be switched Yeah give us a 64bit version to be used by default on OUR terms, forcing ppl to switch can cause idk how many issues, for eg I haven’t a clue if My 64bit laptop is capable of using the 64bit version when hell the 32bit version Heats my pc up enough the 64bit has that unknown of " is this going to destroy my pc or my eve gameplay time"
But either way Nice to see eve comig up to a 64bit level hopefully it dont kill my laptop
Last heard it was to be phased out i dont know if that still the case but im dreading that day been digging around and well it highly unlikely my laptop going to live through the 64bit client so if they do phase out 32bit permanently well that will be me forced to quit because of CCPs choice,
Yeah yeah say all you want “upgrade ya pc” I say sorry but I am an LOW paid Carer to my disabled mum and all i get goes back into her needs so buying a new pc for me is not a choice i can make
Oh well that day will come and im not looking forward to it
Quote “This change that’s occurring on Wednesday will eventually lead to the sunset of the 32-Bit client for EVE, but for now, we’re still going to leave the option in to change back to 32-bit in the launcher settings should pilots want to do so”
Thanks CCP that just one big massive kick in the face for us 32bit required pilots.
Its actually only win 7 64bit system needed, not new laptop. No need to upgrade the laptop, or PC. But actually adding a piece of RAM to laptop isnt usually a big issue, and older memories goes for cheap, used. You could probably find an instruction how to change RAM in your laptop in the internet. I found out in my old laptop its just unscrewing few bolts and there was slot for expansion inside available and visible.
