A mistake made and speaking in the height of anger

Let me clarify. I’m not saying I disagree with the ban, I’m just saying that when we’re talking about legal and illegal, it means real trouble in somebody’s life. I don’t care if he’s allowed to play the game or not, he was upset, it seems like he’d spent a good portion of his life trying to build something. Whether he managed it well or not, he had to be personally invested in it and that’s emotional. I don’t think it means he’s going to grab a flight to another country and hurt somebody.

No, I don’t personally think that is an OK thing. I haven’t said it is.

However, also being in Australia (but luckily not Melbourne where The Judge is), I would laugh my head off if someone in EVE said that to me. That doesn’t make it ok, but I certainly wouldn’t feel threatened at all.

I think you are going off here in the wrong way. I just have a different view to you in relation to the extent of the punishment. That’s all.

Doesn’t matter, pretty much every western nation has assault laws. Threatening to maim someones hands while asking people to find the victims address sounds like pre-meditated assault to me.

not sure what world you guys live in, but in my world people are hurting innocent ppl every day. until gigx can prove that he has no intention on following through on said threat, he should be held accountable, iRL and ingame.

But that has no bearing on this situation.

What?

please read the EULA, especially the part about what happens when you break the EULA, as well as the section on threats. then get back to me.

I been playing for less than 2 years and on all this time i had like 5 threatens, i reported the first 3 of those and CCP did nothing. So here is so clearly the favoritism of some ppl.

So if he get perma ban thats ok. but then ban the other 20% of all the eve players that do threats to.

Australia criminal code (1) A person who strikes, touches, or moves, or otherwise applies force of any kind to, the person of another, either directly or indirectly, without the other person’s consent, or with the other person’s consent if the consent is obtained by fraud, or who by any bodily act or gesture attempts or threatens to apply force of any kind to the person of another without the other person’s consent, under such circumstances that the person making the attempt or threat has actually or apparently a present ability to effect the person’s purpose, is said to assault that other person, and the act is called an assault.

Serbia criminal code
Endangerment of Safety

Article 138

(1) Whoever endangers the safety of another by threat of attack against the life or body of
such person or a person close to him, shall be punished with fine or imprisonment up to one year.
(2) Whoever commits the offence specified in paragraph 1 of this Article against several
persons or if the offence causes anxiety of citizens or other serious consequences, shall be punished with imprisonment of three months to three years.

Have some internet law.

lol… There are links up above of people threatening Judge with bodily harm at Vegas. It doesn’t matter what continent he’s on. There are people willing to hurt Judge just because gigx wants it. That’s a failure of leadership.

Why? He broke the EULA. Read up, you’ll see I’ve stated that a couple of times.

And a ban, perma or otherwise is probably an appropriate form of accountability. I can’t speak for him, but i would imagine when you work so hard on something for so long and then lose it, you get upset and say things you don’t mean, but when you cool down you realize it’s just a game and you shouldn’t have done what you did.

threats are threats, but when you make an effort to follow thru on such a plan, it escalates it to a whole new level. i’m sure ccp was unable to see any escalation of your specific threats so there was nothing they could do.

I get it, it’s illegal. I’m not saying don’t punish appropriately, including a permaban, but how far do you want to go to crucify the guy?

And those people should receive punishment too if they did that in game and/or CCP should ban them from attending Fanfest even if they did it elsewhere.

What’s so lol?

he broke the EULA on many counts, strike one strike two strike three - how many strikes should he get? yes they all occurred in the same infraction, but he went well and beyond anything that should be acceptable. and again, it is at CCP’s discretion, so if they didn’t like the way gigx logged in every day they could opt to ban him permantly. they really don’t need a reason.

Because you act like where they live doesn’t matter. People from all over the world play this game. They gather for CSM, for Fanfest, and for Vegas. Not to mention unofficial meets all over the world.

Theres also the part where Gigx said repeatedly he was going to pay The Judge a visit soon and teach him a lesson.

I get it. You have your opinion. It’s fine. Mine is just slightly different, which I’m entitled to. Move on.

You agree with a permaban, I don’t. No biggy. He has been permabanned, because only CCP’s view counts.

far enough so the next person thinks their words through very carefully before spewing them out of that peanut in his head.

this is not an opinioin, this is a contract that if you played eve you agreed to. should ccp just say aww naw, that’s just there we no no one reads it. it is there to protect CCP’s IP. end of story
