A review of the Nestor: It sucks

Just thought id add, if it is going to be the same price as marauders it should at least have some logi version of bastion, like a mini fax including an animation.

4 Mega Beam lasers…250 DPS at 180km

@Mark_Resurrectus would possibly be a good chap to poke.

edit: also @Mike_Azariah he likes ship love.

It sucks

That’s plain lies.
The nestor has no bonus to enery neutralization or nosferatus, has only 7 high.
It defy sucks less than an arma.
However its armor res bonus and RR bonus makes it better at sucking in group. Yet its limited range and speed gives it a hard time chasing after targets.

(sorry if someone else already made the joke)

And what are you going to do with your drones, the vast majority of your DPS, that only reach out to 60km?

how would you un suck it?

Drone link augmentors…which can increase drone range to 121km.

HUH? It’s the GO-TO armor logi??

Legit it is the cream and crop of Armor ships PVP/PVE dude…

Still not enough to reach Aurora range, which is 141 km.

Only because it has literally no competition. Its really weird how there are only 2 battleships with logi bonuses in the game. The other being the Leshak.

If I was a multiboxer I’d just bring two Guardians for a fraction of the price instead.

Yah we in the shield community (incursions) have always had the running meme of a shield battleship logi.

Probably would break the balance (PVE wise) because shields already have more paper DPS. That’s what we have always believed. :man_shrugging: Some more factors to it that have been debated for a super long time in the PVE world.

You bet incursioners know how to min/max in PVE. :fire:

I think the balancing factor is that shields are supposed to be passive regen where armor is active.

I believe armor repair is more cap → hp efficient in general.

Armor can field less logi than us. That’s why they typically win as they have the wiggle room to slack. Shield pilots always need to be on their game.

I have never seen a passive shield doctrine… I doubt one even exists as active tank can do so much more. But who knows I am just PVE.

I ran a passive gila and it gets deleted once multispecs go down.

I ran a kronos with 0 multispecs in incursions. (shields go bye bye quite fast)

Passive tank in my experience can’t compete and has little to 0 effect on shields vs armor.

The Nestor might suck, but someone who thinks you put lasers on it is likely not providing a worthwhile opinion.

more like, if you need passive tank EVERYONE needs to have passive tank, so a lot of slots dedicated to tank.
While when you go remote shield, everyone goes shield buffer (which costs a lot less ) so that the logies can rep anyone before it dies.

Not to open a can of worms, but just give it a Covert Ops cloaking capability. Problems solved.

Never said you can put lazers on the nestor?

Heavy drones is nice tho to get that last bit of dps

I and many others would love that, but I have a memory of a twitch stream years ago and a dev explained why the Nestor didnt have that covops cloak, sadly I cant remember the dev or the stream, or the reason  what I do remember about it is that It was such an obvious reason (like cars have wheels to move) I couldn’t think of a good argument against it. So despite my useless brain there is a reason its not got it.

Indeed, and augmented heavies squeeze that little bit more out eh

The reason is that we can’t have nice things. Probably objections from null-sec (this is usually the reason).

I don’t remember it being null specific, but speaking of that, that was way before CCP finally gave into the null sec cloaky camper issue, shot exploration in the foot, and added the mobile observatory and the 15min cloak timer. Now that’s in effect if it was reason the Nestor couldn’t have a cov ops cloak then its no longer the case and should be looked at for sure.
