You’ve been utterly ripped off on those Dominixes if you paid 500 Euros ( about £435 ) for them.

But in fact…you’ve lost about 6bn ISK worth of stuff, which is about £40 worth. And given that you only ‘came back’ for less than 3 months, your total ‘cost’ including subscription can’t have been more than £80. So…methinks your 500 Euros is nonsense.

I have been in longer fights - many of my fights can last for a few minutes. Extending / shortening the fight is part of the personal skill set. In general, for active tanks extending fights can be beneficial, for buffer tanks it is detrimental. Similarly, if you are in a drone boat then a long fight is heavy risk… on your drones. Forced VNI to back off from my loki recently by killing high dps drones. Once ogres were gone my active tank could handle VNI easily (without any heating). That VNI was also active tanked. Such fights can last a while.

There are ships that like extra bling (T3Cs do - their bonuses to overloading modules benefit from this greatly), and there are ships that don’t strictly need extra bling. Not to mention there are levels of bling as well - C-type deadspace vs X-type can be a great difference in price, but relatively little in performance.

yes you can but this is not the regular combat. if this happen then the agressor used a wrong target.
pve ships sacrifice way more cause you want max DPS for the lowest possible tank.

We will need to define PVE first. Blitz L4 mission by blapping particular target? Sure, no tank needed, just max dps/alpha. to be fair, dominix is not particularly good at blitzing. You can’t really abandon tank for dps in some cases, like in C3s, or L4s in low sec, some ded plexes, among others, basically anywhere where pvp is likely to occur.

WTF? Is this real fit? Hull Repairers? Didn’t see that one coming.

Yes, but here we’re not just talking about a fight that would in total last 8 minutes, but a fight where the difference between using the 2m ISK T2 repairer and the 500m ISK Corpus repairer would have to be 8 minutes. Roughly, as its about 50% extra repair speed, we’re talking about a fight lasting in total over 16 minutes…compared with lasting 24 minutes with the Corpus mod.

And the point is surely that he didn’t even last 10 seconds…let alone long enough for that Corpus module to actually make any difference to the outcome. Thus I deem the 500m ISK spent on it to be wasted before he even undocked.

your write the definition of PvE … P(layer) v(ersus) E(nvireonment)

yes you can, a dominix is harder then other ships thats true but you still can ! its always simple math → kill target before he can do X amount of damage then you can reduce your tank at Y amount of EHP/s

if youre doing PvE in space where you can be catched you still want as good for PvE as you can. means you sacrifice cool stuff and add more DPS and yes, better tracking or range is also a net DPS increase

you can always sacrifice tank to a minimum ! in every space you can do PvE … and if you want to get some isk you will do ! result in PvP ships kill PvE ships in 90% of all cases ( number is fictive )

he´s doing pve and not pvp so it depends on his mission if it was worth or not.
but i´m sure we all agree, that he´s not able to fight other player based ships !

You can indeed sacrifice tank to the maximum. Yet I find it isn’t worth doing most of the time. The biggest isk/h waster is travel time anyway.

then you sacrifice tank and DPS for max warp speec / max aligntime / max speed.
its even worse then having max dps with max tracking if you get attacked by a pvp ship !

and still not every pve action need to travel through 1 or more star gates like Missions
Nullsec and WH are just warp from your finished anomaly to the next anomaly
you dont need a good aligntime for this cause you can start to move in direction before youre finished
also its not even realy practicable to fit in such cases maximum warp speed if your warp is below 20+ AU. you wouldnt even save way more time if you get the maximum out of your DPS ( its maybe a bit different on extremly slow warping ships like a carrier or a super )

Looks like he’s had 6 opportunities to find out there’s no such thing…and any mission can turn into PvP.

Looks to me like most of his ‘500 Euros’ must have been spent on skill injectors and here we have a true case of ‘pay to win’…or rather lose.

yes he had lost many ships before and he could have learnd what this mean if youre in low sec but he still just doing PvE !
agree that every mission can turn into PvP but if your knowledge is not available its impossible to avoid any loss of a PvE ship ! if he would knew the mechanics of eve then he were warped out as soon as he saw combat probes on d-scan

it is not pay to win and he´s the best example for this ! yes, you can buy everyting you want in eve but this does not make you better if your personal skill are ■■■■ and you barely know anything about mechanics

I prefer the term “Pay 2 Get Hilariously Wrecked”

but but but this game is P2W!

then come with your credit card and pay thousends of “insert your currency” then we will see how much you get with this

It must feel great to learn something from all this?

Thank you for sharing your story and letting me know of the dangers of lowsec.

It changes our view on what’s on the other side of that stargate. This change of view, we hope you stick around to read and share other Capsuleer stories.

You did really good today opening up and we feel more pilots should come forward to share as well.

Go sit on the Jita undock and just start ship scanning random ships, go for the obvious missions BS. You will see the nonsensest nonsense that ever nonsensed on the regular. The really depressing bit is that it’s not just young chars doing this.

There should be a study commissioned on this. By like psychiatrists on why vets/new bros alike create these horrible fits it will put what we all think into perspective.

Is it laziness? Refusal to simply learn how the game works? Lack of research?

Like I want to know what is going through OPs mind when he first bought that ship + fit.
Could it be the RL age of OP? Because there are some old folks who play EVE.

Fair enough. I know that some fits can be wacky but actually work, but certain things are only done in pinch (like refitting armor repper on an active shield tank - done only to fix armor in cases when you can’t get back to citadel to do so easily).

I didnt realize the fits were that awful. I mean I should have guessed but goodness gracious what a waste
