I would imagine its similar to when kids pull the blanket over their head and ’ the monsters can’t see me now’.
He probably spent some money on subscription and plex to buy skill injectors.
Does that come with skill at playing the game?
He couldve just sent me 10 billion isk and i wouldve taught him. Cheaper than losing 6 dominixes and other various ships.
I probably wouldve given him a 1% discount because im so nice.
Not sure if he would have taken your offer as he might feel like as if it’s
or school which he clearly seem to despise. So based on that his mindset might be still to rather
than to have to rely on someone else to teach him.
Too bad he didn’t learn from his personal lessons either and made the exact same mistakes.
At some point years later and many sp’s later I actually started to rip out shiny stuff. at some point I said lets actually see what months of many level 5 trains actually get me sans shiny gear. And knowing how eve gameplay maths works somewhat helps too.
If performance drop not that bad…okay, we can stay t2 and put that shiny module on the side and sell at some point.
Granted I don’t emo rage over isk per hour. I can be 10% lesss efficient and be fine. An outlook I got wandering to other games. and extra minute or 2 on content x is not so bad. there are worse things. Like a pug raid session gone to crap.
The first thing I learnt in EVE was to never fly what I can’t afford to lose. Even in highsec. I cannot for the life of me imagine missioning in lowsec (even with a cheap fit battleship) as the paranoia would kill me long before the enemies do. If someone is flying a ship they cannot afford to lose in lowsec fitted for PvE, it’s just a tragedy waiting to happen. Or a culling process, depending on how you look at it.
Yet no-one has mentioned the 250mm medium railguns yet…
What did that poor navy’thron ever do to them that they’d treat her so bad…
Good catch. Entire fit is wrong.
Haha what a chicken!
Maybe he could purchase a lowsec PvE permit to can pew pew the rats in absolute safety.
Meh, don’t so afraid. You could as well run them in cov op T3C. Perfectly possible to do. And very difficult to be caught. [need combat probes for that, good luck catching attentive cov op]
Heh,e, it’s not lowsec I’m afraid of, it’s PvE in lowsec. If I’m going to be in lowsec, I’d be flying a PvP setup - I don’t mind ratting in nullsec but flying a PvE mission in lowsec just seems way too much risk vs reward for me.
I think there’s a progression people go through with ship fitting, that goes from fitting entirely for one type of thing to getting a balanced fit. Thus people get to the point of swapping out some of that massive tank to be replaced with warp scrams, sensor boosters, etc. Or they go for lesser DPS because they realise the huge DPS they have comes with the disadvantage of absurdly short range. I spend a lot of time looking at my ship fittings wondering what could be better.

Why? I have done plenty of pve in lowsec and jspace. As long as your setup is reasonable (that is: not purely optimized for PVE) you can protect yourself against most threats (with most being sub-bs solo pilots. You likely won’t get any kills because you won’t have a point, but you can force them to back off. As far as trade offs go it is good enough, at least in my opinion.
Smartest method of actually playing the fun way!
Not if you lose it all and quit the game.
I felt the same way about worm holes and ended up living in one!
…or quiet
it in some cases.
