Abyssal are too large of beacon for gankers even in 5.0 space . Risk vs Reward is unbalanced

Are you really surprised that AG players who keep saying that ganking is part of the game do not support the OP?

The real funny thing is that some gankers have actually said something like what you said on the forums several times. The funniest example I saw was a bumper getting upset because a new player followed him around and was reporting his location. He actually petitioned the new player for harassing him, he could of course have been having a dig at the harassment rules as such, but it was funny.

Not always defense less , the other day why hunting KR around jita a Thrasher took out two of our tacklers because our DPS was late , itā€™s was fun hunting him even though he got away, just hope he had fun

Well, when they made them, youd come out of the abysmal instance and be flashy yellow.

Then they took that away, and used the same wording as they did for bounties about it being temporary for testing.

And never spoke of it again.

I think itā€™s time to revert that temporary change, let higher tier Abyssal sites turn people suspect again.

It shouldnā€™t be possible to run those profitable PvE sites simply in Jita with minimal risk.

If people would turn suspect again when entering higher tier abyssals they will be encouraged to spread out and do abyssals in other parts of the game, inculding low sec, null sec and wh space, when there is no extra safety from CONCORD in HS.

If I remember correctly, only the higher tiers would make you suspect on using the filament. Tier 3+ or so?

That would keep lower tier abyssals as ā€˜safeā€™ newbie friendly activity for high sec players, while putting the higher rewards behind bigger risk by removing CONCORD protection upon exit.

I think it was just the tier 4 and tier 5 stuff.

Also, suspect-flagging abyssal runners makes no sense. Thereā€™s really no counter-play to a blob waiting for you on the exit aside from just trying to do them ā€œsomewhere else.ā€ At least with gankers thereā€™s CONCORD, kill rights, EHP setups, etc. that can be utilized as a counter. But just suspect-flagging them is stupid, because theyā€™ll come out and Iā€™m going to be there in my 10B-ISK Hyperion, and thatā€™s a fight theyā€™re never going to win (or, you know, just bring 20 friends with me).

A much more rational solution would be to suspect-flag everyone who lands on the same grid as a live trace (including the site runner who comes out of it at the end). Or maybe requiring anyone who wants to attack the abyssal runner to follow them into the trace, with the NPCs inside acting accordingly.

Suspect flagging makes sense from the point that it makes all space equal for where you do it. When you get suspect flagged for entering a higher tier abyssal site, youā€™re no safer in high sec than you would be in low sec or null sec.

Right now thereā€™s no good reason to do those sites in null sec or low sec when you could just do them in Jita instead. No reason for people to spread.

You would be objectively safer in any area of space that is not high-sec, because you could have your own people cover the exit and proactively attack anyone whoā€™s waiting for you to come out, or be able to help you once the fight starts without going criminal.

Apart from the ā€˜proactiveā€™ attack unless you are willing to suicide gank, you have the same help in high sec.

Ah youā€™re right. The suspect timer means people cannot come to your aid in high sec. Why is high sec so strangeā€¦

Anyway, that just means people are encouraged to do higher tier abyssal sites outside HS, or find a quiet HS spot. I see nothing wrong with that.
