Add the Asteroid destroyer

You will never know what this said, also How was this posted 9hrs ago? I was at work.

The pioneer is a command boost ships for alpha bot fleets, not a straight yield upgrade over the venture (that’s what barges are).

Don’t think your math is correct, please show your work.

You’re confusing the Outrider for the Pioneer.

The Outrider (T2 Pioneer) is a command boost ship, with the same strength of mining bursts as a Porpoise but without option to use a core for stronger bursts and compression. Can bring three mining turrets instead and a MJFG, which makes it a really nice alternative to the Porpoise.

The Pioneer is a straight ore yield upgrade over the Venture. 4% more ore for Alphas, 35% more ore for Omegas. This is almost as much as a barge - when using ORE equipment for both a Procurer is 38% more ore than the Venture.

For gas the Pioneer has the same yield as the Venture for Omegas. For Alphas the Pioneer cannot use three gas scoops (max gas huffing skill is 2) so is not worth using on gas.

@Gerard_Amatin I wouldn’t say it’s not worth using. If you are on a gas site, the extra 3000m3 ore bay means you have more staying power. With cycles times of 20 seconds, every minute you are off grid dumping gas is ISK lost when others are huffing.

No, the Pioneer really is not worth using for Alphas.

Max level Alpha Venture: 5 effective gas scoops, 5000m3
Max level Alpha Pioneer: 2.96 effective gas scoops, 8000m3

You’re giving up 40% of your yield for extra cargo space. It’s going to take ages to even fill that extra space. You might as well start gas huffing in a hauler with 1 gas scoop if you want staying power.

The inability to use a third gas scoop as Alpha really makes the Pioneer not a viable option for Alpha gas huffing.

For ore mining it’s a nice upgrade though.

Right you are! I’m getting my yield numbers all pretzeled up!

Definitely a great upgrade for raw ore mining, as you pointed out.

Would making the Alpha cap on Gas Cloud Harvesting Level III break the game? Not too sure.

/msd

Even with 3 scoops the Alpha gas huffing Pioneer has only 4.8 effective turrets versus the Venture’s 5 effective turrets.

I don’t think it would break the game but I also don’t see it as a reason for Alphas to get more skills. It’s good if they have reasons to become Omega and even without such a buff they have a good reason to use the new Pioneer. On ore.

@Gerard_Amatin absolutely! And, in an example of where that staying power actually matters: Level 2 mining missions. Alphas can benefit from one less station trip and enhanced yield. The maximum bulk of “Unknown Events”, the best Level 2 mining mission for grinding purposes…is 6000m3. Pioneer will be able to stay on the field and complete the mission in one trip.

@Gerard_Amatin

Official: Alphas can now train Gas Cloud Harvesting to 3, and run three scoops on a Pioneer.

Where did you read that? I didn’t see it in the patch notes?

Its in Hoboleaks - so while not an official source its in the changelog as of today.

They cant.

im pretty sure CCP also stated do not take what HOBOleaks says as "gospel”

just cause its on hoboleaks doesn’t mean its going to be on tranquility
perfect example: they had stuff on there about proving grounds and gustav mannfred was gonna orgasm at the possibility of them bringing it back, only for ccp to tell them it aint..

It’s indeed not certain that whatever is on hoboloeaks will go to tranquility in that state, or at all.

On the other hand, it does mean CCP is looking into it. And it seemed an oversight to release a new Alpha-friendly gas huffer with three turrets while Alphas were still locked at 2 gas scoops max.

I think this change means CCP is looking into it, which makes it likely to be part of the Catalyst patch.

@Geo_Eclipse_Oksaras definitely agree with your statement - its not etched in stone….we’ll see on patch day. OF course, I also agree with @Gerard_Amatin - it seemed an oversight not to allow Pioneer to fit three gas scoops.

Now my next question - what skill level will be needed to use Abyssal Gas Cloud Scoops? Alphas can use some Abyssals and not others, so I’m thinking Level IV will be the threshold there. We’ll see on the 18th!
