Will alpha’s be able to fly barges in this update?
Initially removing of racial lock deemed as good incentive to get Omega.
Now Alphas do not play because they want pirate ships and battlecruisers/battleships.
Now “Caps and T2 hulls” are deemed as good incentive to get Omega.
How much time do you expect before alphas will left because they cannot fly caps and T2 hulls and people will seriously advise to move this borderline further? Half a year? 1 year?
I also wonder how it will look. Will every skill be available in this 20,5 SP pool?
Or it will be just better set of skills that are available?
They won’t lol
If they do, EVE will die because no one flying subcaps will bother paying to play

Do you know how many Alpha accounts are going on to become paid subscribers though?
I tend to lean towards - Aplha’s as they were just weren’t achieving what CCP had hoped, hence opening it up to use more ships in the hope it will encourage more to play / stay.
The problem is, at this point I have combat characters that i now pay for that I can drop to Alpha and still fly the ships I need to albeit with slightly less DPS. They will still add numbers in fleet and apply about the same DPS as others.
We already see lots of players in fleet that can’t use (haven’t trained into yet) T2 guns. The only restrictions Alpha’s had was being restricted to tackle roles due to not being able to fly larger doctrine ships, now they will be able to fly doctrine ships - Why would I pay 20 odd dollars a month for a character I can use for free?
That gives me roughly 100 mil SP per character I can extract - I’ll never have to go ratting again and be able to buy whatever I need - with no monthly subscription.
Ask those who you see talking about subbing - Would you pay a subscription if you could fly any T1 ship T2 fit except for battleships which are restricted to T1 guns… See how many of them will gladly pay ~ $20 a month for T2 battleship guns…
Since when someone cares if the game dies or not because of stuff he wants?
CCP won’t take a decision that will send the game under, unless they truly want to kill the game
These Alpha changes may be tied to what I said about still buying stuff and why it is bought. Maybe people just did not buy it? So they throw another bait, maybe people will bite on that extended experience, looking at progression and time invested as a deciding factor.
Why bother going Alpha when you can extract your 100mil SP toon each month and pay a few hundred mil each month for plex?
Then you still keep your 100mil SP and fly the ships as omega you still do.
The reality of SP farming means it is so cheap to omega your account theres almost zero point not too minus some market shenanigans.
You can’t all be people who use only one character right? Unless you’re using vms, other computers or some other method to trick the launcher, Omegas allowing you to use cloak and multiple accounts is enough to warrant plexing every month for most people. Eve is a pretty lousy game with only one account tbh (at least I think it is).
No, the current Alpha limitations on mining and industrial will be the same after the December update.
This is a bizzare choice by CCP, I mean on one hand I love the fact I can drop 3-4 of my omega subs to alpha after this changes with very little loss in effeciency, and save myself more than $400-$500 a year in not having to pay CC subscriptions. But why (And this is out of sheer curiosity, cause I’m going to LOVE saving money.) are they shooting themselves in the foot by doing this?
It’s like CCP just decided to do a reversed “Greed is good” fiasco again. Are they trying to make up for that massive ■■■■ up now or something by canceling it out?
I wholeheartedly support this decision BTW, yay more money to spend on more important things. \o/
You can also set those alts to train any chosen skills and once per month extract that SP, sell Injectors and use that Isk to plex your accounts without spending a penny. All that without sacrificing ability to legally multibox
My ganking ship doesn’t have enough PG as Alpha. It either has to sacrifice a 250mm, or the RoF rig.
You will not be able to train any skills or login your accounts simultaneously however.

It’s pretty simple really -
Plex costs too much (I run 7 accounts to join 3 or 4 fleets a week (on a good week), the rest of my time is spent having to make isk to pay for those accounts)
SP farming is a pain - “Almost” is the key word
I’d still have to waste time doing PVE activities to buy ships and fit them
I don’t need my 165 mil SP to do what the character is used for
The isk from extracting would last me for years
CCP keeps reducing the incentive to pay for the game - Shite sov mechanics, worse structure mechanics, etc - All designed to suit the largest groups, while slowly eroding the ability for smaller groups to grow (without having networks of blues).
Player groups combined with new game mechanics in nulsec have all but eliminated anything other than blob fleets - Don’t need high SP to join blob fleets, basic skills to fly doctrines is enough. No-one but the elitists will kick you for not being able to use T2 guns, they just want numbers in fleet.
Most of all, it would mean not having to run multiple accounts to pay for the few fleets I join each week giving me 20 odd hours a week to find something more interesting than Eve to play.
After 10 years the main reason I’m still here is down to the social aspect of Eve, as the group of people I interact with who no longer play is growing larger than those who do - The reasons to scale my play right down are quickly gaining ground.
Everyone I know already bypasses the 1 alpha login either via multi pcs/sandboxing/or the good old multi-login trick. They have been doing it since alpha states were introduced. (For the record I don’t do it, but that’s only because I currently don’t use any alphas.)
You know, they will eventually find that out and ban “your friends” since this is against the EULA
I watched CCP Rise presentation again and I don’t get it. I really don’t. According to CSM minutes subscriptions are major in terms of income for CCP. Now they are literally removing them in favour of SP injecting. Alphas were change from 30 day trial, which was good because you can’t explore the game in that short period of time. Game was free with limitations. Now Rise want to convince me that because Alphas don’t have ability to fly bigger ships they leave? That was the point of the trial. You want full game, pay for it. Where is the threshold that they should bring the money? SP injectors? CCP is probing the market for full F2P instead pricy subscription?
Leaning toward “free to play” crowd won’t end well. There will always be pressure to “give more for free”. What will the definition of Alphas state be? It’s a strange move and I have no idea what is should accomplish apart from short boom for SP injectors. I have to say it, CCP started to use “granular” in almost every presentation tied with money making themes. I like “granular” with only one thing, my cottage cheese.
Not really. What they are doing is moving away from mandatory pay pricing to you pay what you want to pay for, aka what you think is worth it for you. Those who think dropping large bucks on the game is worth it will do so and those that dont care after 5,10,15 years as much dont have to.
Find your pay schedule to get the game you want and go for it. The rest is up to you.
