INB4 yellow safety is removed.
Did we really expect it too.
I think, what these forums need, is a paid blue checkmark to verify that each user is in fact, a main and contributing to the financial well being of CCP while enrsurining a safe, productive dialogue that isn’t mired by alts, bots and trolls.
I thought there was a restriction on logging an Alpha in while an Omega is at play.
What about the Alpha accounts? Are we going to verify them as well?
EVE?
What can I say about EVE?
About EVE I will say that the game Ashes of Creation has a Caravans system that has a zone of influence around the hauler
Anyone stepping in the zone of influence of the hauler is auto flagged for PvP, in EVE terms:
everybody hauling or close to the haulers become suspect, friendly or foe, everywhere the hauler travels become a PvP zone around it
When the hauler dies, the wagon explodes like a piñata and the loot is scattered all around and anyone can loot it, everybody is free to loot… ninja looters are welcome, but since they were close to the hauler then they are suspect too
In AoC the safety settings is green, purple, red… the hauler and anyone around the hauler becomes purple automatically
The guy mining near the road becomes suspect too if the hauler passes by, everybody is free to gank him… if the miner dies he loses the loot drop rate is 2x bigger than when the miner fights back… so the miner is encouraged to fight for his minerals
It’s still in closed Alpha for now, but every EVE player should have this game in their radar, just in case EVE keeps going in this direction
So, it’s quite interesting seeing people’s arguments that the market changed and so EVE has to change, because look Intrepid Studios is giving the world a lesson about how to make interesting systems
Saying that EVE has to change because the market changed is a falacy
I am checking out this game too!
Did you see that people can bash entire cities? With all player houses, appartments, npc buildings? Everything is gone and there’s no asset safety
Then the entire region becomes a conflict zone. conflict zones are free for all PvP, and the entire city becomes a loot piñata and players will dig the the loot under the rubble for days, so people will be fighting for days and digging out the loot
It is very interesting seeing such changes in EVE while a new company is willing to go All In in destruction in a MMO
It had potential, but is already coming out the door neutered because of carebear influence (and is likely to get worse before it gets better).
New World was supposed to be the WoW version of EVE, and then they focus-tested it and deleted three years of development and turned it into a completely different game with the PvP pretty much turned off entirely. This is the reality of today’s multiplayer gaming market. You ask people what they want, and 99.9% of them will say “I want to relax with safe PvE I can do alone” and then every company tries to turn their new MMO into Skyrim with lobbies and loot crates.
And that is fine. Problem is when someone choose to do the opposite and then these players for some reason come into such game and demand it to be changed to yet another singleplayer with lobby as every other game.
And the biggest problem is that the devs of those games are not sending these players to where they belong.
Well of course they aren’t. If 99.9% of the gaming market consists of casual cell phone transplants or digital SJWs these days, you can’t really sell your game to anyone else, because there’s no one else to sell it to.
Open-world games are popular, but they’re only popular with the tiny fraction of all people who are hardcore PC gamers. It’s inevitable that people who aren’t would come across these games and start taking over; there’s just too many of them for it not to happen. And what happens next is a lot like the gentrification of a neighborhood; all the soul gets sucked out and the prices go up.
If you have a non-casual game, casual players will enter it and make demands for it to become more casual. It’s a problem that doesn’t really have a solution. The bigger group’s voice will always drown out the smaller group’s voice when money is concerned.
Even that old game Lemmings had suicide ganking, it is a part of every game even solo player games where you are the ganker and non ganker.
See the thing your missing is
People in charge tell lies.
Nothing ever gets done. Its all simply boilerplate signally to their shareholders/customers/whatever.
The sooner people realise its lies to make money and not “theoretical marxists” or whatever jibbergabber the “threat” is this week the sooner we can get back to normal.
Actually, I get that very well. I’m just saying the interaction goes something like this:
- You complain that my red shirt is sexually harassing you
- I get “talked to,” not because there’s harassment, but because the bosses want to avoid turning this into a “thing” that would waste time and resources
- Then two outcomes can happen:
– I change my shirt and things go back to normal and I keep my job (the frivolous complaint resulted in actual, undeserved enforcement)
– I defend myself and refuse to change my shirt and the complaint is discarded because it is frivolous, but then I get fired because I didn’t comply with a managerial order (the frivolous complaint resulted in actual, undeserved punishment)
In both cases the party making the frivolous complaint wins, and feels empowered to make further similar complaints.
So get your retaliation in first, or, alternatively, lodge a counter claim that their grievence is targetted harrassment.
Or the HR managers socks offend you.
Jam the system with their own corpses. They made it possible, therefore its up to you do put in a grievence a day until they get bored, forget about it and it never gets mentioned again.
Like COSMOS sites.
Im not sure how youd get fired if the complaint was discarded though.
You arent US are you? I figured you were from a country with actual employment laws.
The “first strike” advantage is very much real.
Boss says “look just change the shirt, alright? I don’t want to deal with this right now I’m already in the weeds.” Then you either acquiesce and the person making the complaint wins, or you resist and then the boss thinks “this is the person who said no and refused to follow my instructions” and then your name is on the list during the next round of layoffs or maybe your contract doesn’t get extended or whatever, and the person making the complaint wins.
Yes, one of the ultra-liberal hellhole parts too.
This doesnt make sense because then surely your employment rights might actually exist.
Still, if your boss is that willing to generate extra costs for the company, your best bet would be to lodge a complaint with his manager for wasting time on frivolity when he should be working.
Id just tell him to wise up, plenty of better jobs out there, he should count himself lucky he can still walk after telling you to take your shirt off.
Thats direct harrassment and an actual criminal offense
I love Lemmings still playing it once per few years… It is a classic.
It all started with those little lemmings and here we are in New Eden where we had become the Lemming. (Or the Gankers still currently Ganking Highsec)

I don’t know why so many disagree with the things you say or perhaps I align my views sometimes with your own views as this is my understanding of pve inside a pvp game too.
Because he is a PvE player who has a massive problem with PvP even when its no where near him.
His words are untruthful and dishonest.
Did you have that issue when you were originally choosing to begin playing EVE Online, or did you develop it later?
