An apology and truce offer to Grasten Auritus

There’s shaking hands with people that don’t have the same ideals as you; then there’s this.

Then if we are to talk of ideals, consider me in this matter a consequentialist.

Diana;

This is a very gracious and polite statement. It displays a significant amount more self-awareness than you sometimes display. Please understand that is not meant as an insult, but as my sincere belief that you’re capable of being this conscientious all the time, and that often, as you say, it is simply a matter of you being ‘fast on returning fire’. As Samira has said, it can often have a graceless quality to it. I’d ask that you consider the things Lt. Kernher and others have said to Makoto, and consider whether or not that advice can be applicable to yourself, as well: if she says something, you are often quick to decry her when you don’t need to weigh in.

If you just slow down a little and consider whether or not you need to return fire, I think you would find that your standing in the eyes of many would rise. Obviously, I am under no delusion that I can tell you that you should, or must, do this… but I think you can stand to benefit from this approach. And it costs you nothing.

And that’s the sad truth. I guess you don’t get burnt unless you fly too close to the sun. Oh well.

To elaborate a bit in response to Miss Nieyli:

The source of my historical animus with Commander Kim stems most likely from the same source as her dislike for Haatakan Oiritsuu. That post-Highlander, despite my previous affiliations with the Caldari Providence Directorate as a Commissar, my agenda as a political operative was not in support of CEO Heth as regards internal Kaalakiota politics but of internal factions in support of a return to power by Oiritsuu.

While confrontation and vitriol was unsurprising in the period prior to and after the ouster of Tibus Heth from the position of Chief Executive due to the requirements of public propaganda in the face of opposition political activism on the part of the Provists and their supporters which in turn led to confrontation and vitriol with Commander Kim, what is done is done: Tibus Heth was ousted from power and I did what I perceived to be my duty and my part in defeating a dissident movement just as with the Brothers of Freedom.

These days I just do not care enough to continue going through the same old motions over matter in which the dust has already settled and what is done is done. I have little interest in participating in a feud which at this point is no different to a social media quarrel between media celebrities – a fine source for controversy and the accumulation of “likes” by the popcorn gallery, but which remains neither constructive nor serving much of a point beyond page views.

Commander Kim remains welcome to her own opinions just as much as anyone else because disagreement or not, it will not change history nor affect political realities or outcomes within either Kaalakiota or the wider State. Given the aforementioned lack of dignity in public feuding and my own belief that I do not feel it is my job at present to dictate to others their own opinions I consider it a distraction from other, more fundamentally important tasks to me.

Commander Kim is equally free to loathe or dislike for my own actions in pursuing what I feel is my duty and obligations, but if that remains the case then she would be but only one among many at this point in time, and if so then I feel no need to respond in kind.

Please keep all your lying liar slander away from her. It hurts her feelings, known liar.

I think if one genuinely desires to promote a change in behaviour it is probably better not to bait someone into expressing old behaviour.

I wasn’t. I was pointing out that your choice of words might be considered a subtle attempt to bait her.

Then no, it was not.

Understandable however.

In fairness, I can see how you might have thought the same of my statement.

If only you extended such thoughtfulness and consideration to others, perhaps you wouldn’t be the single most hated person in this community.

This thread is becoming too productive on a personal level. If we can’t have dishonest arguments based only on the foundation of opposition to the other without any attempt at crossing the aisle, understanding our neighbors, or having the good will to seek common ground rather than an endless no man’s land of rhetorical conflict then what even is the point of th IGS!?

Wrong eyes are worth a war,
Difference means blood and gore,
I have one,
You have two,
I love to war with you.
