An Open Letter to CCP from Current and Former CSM Members on the "Prospector Pack"

I agree strongly with this open letter!

/signed. I am in total agreement with the OP.

This package is a slap in the face to every player that spent time grinding skills, plexed his account and worked his way up to flying a barge. Not mention to all the Indy guys who make ships to be sold on the market.

after all the BS stuff they have done with mining this is yet another thing to add to a long list of BS CCP has been pulling in the past year. I wasnt happy when i came back after a few years and seen they made ti so anyone can just buy SP instead of earning it, imo that was a great divider in this game and made you learn to fly. But in the end i realized that doesnt really matter as eventually we all get there. But this has more impacts than just that, the impact on the “market they were trying to save” by doing all the scarcity crap is worst than i think anyone even realizes. Not only will it effect the builders but its going to effect the economy of the game and i for one am getting tired of CCP’s bull ■■■■. They are ruining what was a once great game and its almost time to just write it off as a loss and go play something else so they can finish destroying it!

That’s probably what CCP has in mind

This thread is a mass hysteria as we’ve seen before on Tranquility about optional stuff that some players may find attractive. It doesn’t hurt the game on any level but player’s pride and some damn isk. The time spent would’ve been spent anyway since they profess to love EVE that much.

I’m not defending anything, this isn’t a fight. I’m voicing my opinion just as you do. The way I do it is my business.

its amazing how many people don’t seem to understand how a player driven market works, apparently CCP is becoming one of them. It saddens me to see this game fall so bad.

Is it at least a ■■■■-fit, so it can easily be ganked?

This open letter should have been written back when they introduced skill extractors. It’s too late now. They know they can get away with basically anything. Hell they even introduced literal gambling.

I for one have given up on this game years ago. I switched to MMOs where the developers still care about the game and doesn’t invest 80% of their efforts into monetization schemes.

Yet you still post in its forum. You obviously haven’t moved on.

No longer a probability at this point, it is a certainty.

Sure I mean that’s what you choose to believe here, nothing wrong with that in itself.

The reality of the game has been altered gradually over a decade with an ever shifty marketing philosophy and game design direction. All results from poor management of core problems the game had, but never got addressed properly.

We are where we are now with these monetization options, and that’s that.

Nothing much left for players but to try and voice their concerns.

Yeah I played it for over a decade. I still feel a strong connection to it. But I don’t play the game anymore and I stopped a long time giving them any money. I hate what they have done to the game and turned an extremely immersive space game into a something that resembles a store front.

Do you feel like me still being around because of sentimentality somehow invalidates my views about the state of the game? Or why else did you even mention it.

I hardly ever post and to be honest CCP lost me a long time ago but I was asked to take a look at this and share my thoughts. Out of respect for my friends that have had more tolerance, and more hope in CCP I am here to support this post in its entirety.
When I heard that some of the scarcity changes had been rolled back I almost was hopeful enough to resub on the spot but I decided that I would research what that looked like before giving CCP any more of my money.
I have found games to play instead of Eve but none of them before or since can replace what Eve once was. If things were ever to get close to that game where it genuinely felt like you had complete agency and the ability to shape the game as a player…well I imagine my credit card would come out.
The path from here back to there involves listening to the player base and the swallowing of pride…and the current CCP has a pride in spades.

Finally an honest reply.

Like most posting here, you neither heard about or cared about this package. Then some yahoo decided to grab headlines with the “open letter” shtick and got his sycophantic minions to flood inboxes for alts to post support for him.

I bet most of the present and previous CSMs in the OP just shrugged and said “yeah, whatever” when he approached them to add their names. It’s not a hill worth dying on for all but a minuscule part of the player base. Most of the people posting here are just doing it because everyone else is. Not because they give a ■■■■ one way or the other.

This isn’t about the game. It isn’t about the players. It’s all about Brisc.

Mr Epeen :sunglasses:

I don’t think that invalidates your points, I comment on the lasting impression this game has had on you and others who have played for years, how the nostalgia can distort the way someone sees a game after so many years. You may feel that EVE was better years ago but you weren’t the same as now, you’ve changed over the years like we all do and that changes the way we see things that have been around for years. That’s interesting to me.

If CCP suddenly starts buying items from the market to give to players in these packs, it will spike the price of these ships on the market. Think what happens when a group with unlimited money starts buying things they need in an instant. You get $800 toilet seats.
