An Open Letter to CCP from Current and Former CSM Members on the "Prospector Pack"

Eh no summer of rage was the pinnacle of the Incarna so not T2BPO’s that happened much earlier.

Eve’s most notorious of noise makers were the ones being given T2BPO’s, apart from T20’s back handers to BoB, there was very little noise.

You have to be squinting very ■■■■■■■ hard to see past the tn’s of gifted T2BPO wealth to be pissed off by noobs by retrievers, but that is what Brisc & co, do best.

I am with you.

One of if not the fundamently aspects to eve is PLAYER DRIVEN ECONOMY. This is a complete and total betrayal of one of the fundamental aspects of eve. signed Killer

CCP continue to come up with the most stupid money making microtransactions, chasing a market that barely exists.
If they concentrated on selling cosmetic items that the already established player base would actually want to buy, they’d be doing far better.
They are completely inept and naive when it comes to marketing, merchandising and microtransactions. And always have been.
They do not understand their player base.
They do not understand their game.
They believe that milking new players for as much cash as possible during the 3-4 months that they are going to hang around for before quitting forever is a long term, sustainable goal.

I sure hope CCP realized the ■■■■ they’ve stepped in before they do this with something bigger and more-often used. Once that happens the game dies. The player economy is the core of this game and CCP just really messed that up. I really hope this pack gets reverted immediately and whoever had the idea of putting this in a pack loses some sway in what happens to eve. I am yet to hear about one player pleased with this pack, and hundreds who are pissed off.

To CCP: you had the right idea with the BS changes and partial SS reversion. You had players who were happy with their devs. You just took another ■■■■ on your players and we frankly tolerate it too much. Figure out where you want this game to go and make it happen.

Agree with OP, this is a noob trap but letting game companies foot in the door this sort of monetization strategy is never a good thing.

After already breaking the promise of not directly selling SP, this isn’t even the first step over the line.
Indeed not very Poggers. No hugs from me at fanfest.

While i cannot account for all of the t2 bpos i can tell you that a large majority of them were not gifted as you say there was a t2 bpo lottery that took place a very very long time ago in the game as one of the people who was lucky enough to win one your point becomes entirely invalid. Also i dont know if you are aware of this but the finacial benefit to the t2 bpo is so small it is mostly worthless.

However you are saying that you support an action that removes a core feature of the game which is industry. If thats the case tell me how plan on replacing your next ship if there are no industrialists to build them because there is not isk to be made anymore, planning on shelling out $200 for your next maurder… i doubt it

Signed, this goes against the spirit of the game that we’ve spent almost 20 years playing

Serious side note…CCP you would make a TON more money by listening to the player base and giving station skins, or customizable skins for cash. I don’t do real money for in game stuff, but I WOULD OPEN my wallet for some awesome station skins, make them last for only 6 months, so you have money comging in all the time etc…please don’t sell in game ships

Monetising skins, skill points, and things that are NPC seeded is one thing.
Monetising and consequently interfering in the player-balanced economic dynamics is a worrying development.

I also fail to see how new players paying real money just for one of our beloved forum regulars to immediately gank it will encourage them to stay with the game long term. The excuse that we’re just blowing up other people’s internet pixels and not their paid-for items is getting fuzzier, and not in a good way.

I for one will start manufacturing more catalysts.

Am I the only one outraged by not only the fact that they are meddling in the in-game economy, but the fact that these packs give you extremely poor value to begin with? When you do the math on them they’re more like a scam, yet they’re presented as a limited one time deal.

It’s not like what they’re selling are natural resources of which there is a limited amount, they could literally just actually make one time offers actually good deals.

Instead you’re getting scammed under the guise of them giving you a great offer.

I consider their marketing practices outright deceptive.

What makes this even worse, is that they have just finished completely gutting the in game economy and making everyone more poor. Now they slap us in the face with this?

New players now find it even harder to make isk and get into mining, so CCP ‘conveniently’ starts selling the mining ships newbies want? Seems like they are purposefully sabatoging the in game economy in order to squeeze as much money out of us. It could be genuinely unintentional, but that brings up another question. If it wasn’t on purpose, then they are so far up their own ass, unable or unwilling, to listen to the CSM/players. The incompetence on display is amazing. It’s amazing that CCP has managed to last this long.

I’m honestly lost as to what CCP can do to make up for it. We literally had a riot for multiple days, people canceling, and general outrage from the CSM. And what do we get for it? A decent patch with half the content straight up missing/inaccessible and a sale of a fitted mining ship. I wish CCP would see the light and ACTUALLY LISTEN. The most recent patch shows they do listen to us, sometimes. All the more reason to be outraged. They are listening, CCP is just actively choosing to ignore is.

I am personally just waiting for my subs to expire and keep just my main and maybe an alt or two. It is sad that it has come to this.
