Anti ganking people/corporation/whatever you are

EVE isn’t other MMOs.

That is exactly why I made my thread about removing highsec from eve online. It builds an expectation that does not match reality.

When expectations get shattered, some people become downright hateful as if the person that shattered their own personal illusion is also the one who built their illusion.

please take it and then reply in the context it was delivered and intended.

To the casual gamer, hi sec represents an area in other MMOs that have “town guards”

Yeah, but that’s not necessary. Only bad players get ganked. Once you learn from the experience and get better, the ganks stop.

I got ganked once. I thought it was hilarious.

That is where the problem remains. Some people refuse to learn. They expect that pve and pvp are separate and that they must engage in pvp for it to happen.

The term itself builds the expectation, though it is unrealistic. It’s akin to saying a store is safe because they have a security guard. Then it gets robbed and people get sent to their next life. They were never safe to begin with, but they believe in an illusion that is built by unaware people living in a fantasy land.

That’s not my problem. I refuse to change my behavior due to someone else’s stupidity. I honestly don’t care about those people. There are no participation trophies in EvE Online

I can agree to that.

What I see as a problem others will not see as a problem. Eve doesn’t need negative nancies wanting everything handed to them, but eve does need new blood to continue flowing.

I propose a new system entirely!

Maybe a corp or alliance can be established that will forcibly teach new players the ropes instead of the hand holding from wonderful but part of the problem groups like eve uni. I think we should call this brand new group something like Highsec Isnt Safe or something similar, perhaps a little shorter. I leave that to others to decide.

That way, when new players come in and the game itself doesnt teach them hard enough to keep the information in mind, these wonderful players willing to sacrifice their time and assets could impart valuable knowledge and experience with handling stressful game situations!

Perhaps, those of us unwilling to assist in this mandatory teaching should help fund such an organization! Afterall, they are doing a service for the entire community and keeping the game alive and well!

I think that another thing such an organization could do is impart some familiarity with manners and gratitude to these new players, so that we can have a calm and civil environment, free of emotional instability and fleeting desires to quit!

Nope. I refuse to fund anyone a single ISK if it doesn’t directly lead to me getting more wealth.

It would though, wouldnt it? New players need to buy ships modules and ammo from someone.

No it wouldn’t. Taxes don’t lead to more wealth. A stupid tax is even worse and that’s what you’re proposing.

Besides- Aiko is already managing a corp that forcefully teaches them to learn.

I sure this made you feel good to share about a lost cause it helps you prepare for the next! :call_me_hand: for sharing

huh? I’m sorry, but I don’t know what any of that was supposed to mean. It was nonsense.

The fact that if when a pilot shares their loss helps them prepare to face the next loss.

Don’t worry about it. Frostpacker is an avid word salader, but we love him anyway.

The Eve equivalent of town guards would be the faction police ships on gates. Which have saved me before when I got suicide ganked in my deep space transport.

blockade runner? I’ve seen people use DST in conversation but I really dont know which ships they mean even after all these years.

Nevermind, i just checked and its the 2nd ship on the tier tree for moving ships. I’ve never flown one so I wasnt familiar with it. o7

Blockade Runner = mostly safe, good at moving small, but very valuable, cargo. Can be killed with the massed can/drone spam to decloak if the hauler is really unlucky.

Deep Space Transport = Big cargo holds. Slow as ■■■■. Relies on cloak warp trick for “stealth”. If that fails? Overheat your hardeners+reps and pray.

Outside highsec and while actively flown, mind. A lot of BR pilots will reach highsec, assume they’re safe, and stop cloaking. Which is very silly since they’ve just reached the most dangerous stretch of their journey. And since they’re unscannable they can’t even count on ”my ship isn’t worth spending a bunch of gank nados on”, because an empty BR is indistinguishable from one hauling eighty billion isk worth of skillpoints.

Nope. I stand by my original comment. EVE isn’t other MMOs.
