I think there are some people who quit because of things like time availability and health. In my younger days I used to sit and play eve for lots of hours during the week and literally all weekend. Sitting for long periods of time is bad for you and that’s a fact.
Stress is also a factor and I believe the reason why some people get stressed with Eve is because it can take lots of time to build wealth, to lose the wealth in a matter of minutes will provoke your nervous system into reacting. Also dealing with others or being trolled can stress you.
I know some of you will reply saying HTFU or whatever, Most Eve players do get stressed ( I’m still laughing at the “This is REALLY Eve” video).
I know there have been reports of gamers dying after 24 non-stop hours of video gaming. Be careful my fellow Eve players, go for regular walks or jogs do some stretches every couple of hours and drink plenty of mineral water.
And just wait until CCP bothers to unveil the plans to “breathe fresh air into empire space”, or whatever it used to say at eve updates about the Winter release, sicne now all mentions to highsec are gone…
The game is focused in a sandbox oriented to destroy other people castles. The constructors here, think this is dumb.
The game need many alts to be effective and an abstract awareness the old guys go losing in tiny steps. I am the 45 old people capable to do many things at the same time, small multitasking , six monitors and capable in real time of the problems of different areas of a business (stores, purchases, customers, employee retention, loyalty). For some people this game is MENTAL TAXING AND HEAVY.
many people do nothing. I cant enter the past weekend for real life reasons, and my friends and bloggers i read, do nothing special this weekend, they dont get steps of their main goal, maybe because have not
This forums have a problem related of the other phenomena (sorry for the term), and echo chamber. For a people oriented to invision/mybb/vbulletin in the past, we cant do something real here for lack of tools.
FInally, a server is as good as his admin and a good community need strong controls, a worst people / offensive people must be banned (or muted/ blocked) by you, but the community always derive in the same strength than the moderatrors set rule as the “worst tolerable level of interaction”.
Myself have a 14 years old son, and maybe i am here for SOON guide him as alpha, because this is a training fieeld of “tolerating” and “detecting” bad guys. He can deal him with bullies, and if needed use the FISTS in real world when needed, fisting here to a bunch of nobodies dont have purpose. For me Eve can be used for educative purposes, but as a game, no much if you are not a constructor people with tolerance for the worst people and a calm mind.
well i only play the game for the ships anyway
i dont care about player corps
i dont care about ganking
i dont care about broken economy
i dont care about killboards
i dont care about scamming
industry might be interesting but it doesnt really explain how to get into invention to make it worthwhile
fw could be fun but it doesnt explain how to get into it or what youre even meant to do
mostly i just care about flying around in spaceships and trying different ships that interest me
sometimes its pve sometimes its pvp
next im gonna fly a venture because it looks cute
everything else i dont care about anymore
Without checking when the stuff was introduced exactly, I recall the following things:
new missions
more and more regular events
New toys like the MJD (giant buff to low SP lvl 4 running) and MTUs
several Mining ship balances and a (lower level) mining boost ship
lots of other stuff that affected all parts of space like the new player structures and NPC mining ops
and most likely more I can’t remember right now.
But the main problem is probably that you consider only stuff as content that is handed to you by CCP, but in fact the content is you and the people around you and what you all do.
Quick question for those who think hisec content is fine, apart from hisec Incursions which tends to be run by elitist big mouths in my experience that is, what group content is available for characters of an age 6 months to two years?
How about none,. zero zilch.
Also I would have the rat spawns have a random factor that means nastier rats could spawn, right up to Dreadnoughts.
Objective: Group content to create a group mentality in hisec players
Clarification: Group PvE content, something akin to level 5’s which require people to work as a team.
Group content can be a lot of things, two examples:
Mine, haul, compress, refine or use the ore for building stuff
you can have four people running missions, another two looting and salvaging and another one selling the loot and the stuff from the lp store or you could have one or two people specializing in running anomic somethings while the rest is doing standard missions
suicide ganking and war dec griefing are other fine examples
If you mean by group content things that forces you to be in a group, than you are most likely correct.
You are one example that null sec players are not friendly to casual players.
Your logic is totally wrong.
Casual players can be long-time customers.
Not all long-time customers are hardcore players.
Hardcore gameplay won’t conflict with casual.
I’ve played since 2012. I’m a long-time customer. I’ve been treated like second-class for five years.
However, I’m persistent.
I bought a lot of plex, clothes and skins.
And there are so many players who lost their confidence in CCP and left.
This is exactly the same mindset which makes miners paper-tank their mining barges and then cry when they get suicided by single bad-fitted catalyst.
Inability to make choice between “want it now but slower” or “want it faster but later”. It’s totally the same case.
What i did was setting my skill training plan for long period of time (1 or more months), load it into EvE Mon, press buttons “insert remaps” and “insert learning skills” and then get locally optimized by time training plan including necessary learning skills. By the removal of learning skills i had less than 1 million SP in them but i NEVER waited “~4 weeks for leaning skills” before getting the skill i wanted.
And you know what? 7 years down the road i still have 100+ million SP and training skills for Titan just because i have nothing to spend collecting SP on.
And how many people starting the game already know what they want to do and what they need to train? This only works if you have a long time plan. Using several remaps in the first few months could also be considered a waste - in fact it would be the same kind of thinking that you have when neglecting learning skills.
How you could incorporate those into your learning schedule is also not the point, because that’s pretty basic math. That you had to do it at the cost of early game progression - where progression and some sense of achievement is the most important, because it will significant impact on wether you stay in or leave the game - is.
I don’t even know what I am skilling right now, because it doesn’t really matter. I can fly and use everything I need and want (which is everything except exhumers, titans, rorqual and a few t2 haulers). This is, however, a totally different situation than seven years ago, where I couldn’t wait for the next thing to try.
PS: in winter, there’s a highsec expansion coming. you can keep doing what the carebears do, or you take matters into your own hands. only continuing ganking and talking on the forums only helps them. a great opportunity is coming and if it’s not taken, they just keep winning because the good guys do nothing. Relevant, long post: Well this makes EvE look like a terrible game CCP :( - #30 by yellow_parasol
If you think highsec is boring , you could always encourage others to try Low,Null or WH space. Your account lets you play there for free. No need to wait for an expansion.
For a self-confessed elitist who started playing about 18 months ago and now claims to no longer play Eve actively, you seem terribly worried about the “bigger amount of people” ( a majority ?) that don’t play the right way and have brought ruin to an idealised version of Eve that probably only ever existed in your imagination.
