[ARC] Important communication to the people still stranded in Vale

A very good question. As for the potential to join further fleets, that would be up to my superiors. However, in this one situation, the people who began trying to set this joint operation worked very hard to do so. Smack talk is one thing. But were they to have attacked the ARC fleet, it would have caused all of that effort to go to waste. The actions of a few would have caused issues for the Kybernauts as a whole. As it sits, both ARC and the Kybernaut Clade has come to an agreement where we would assist them into the system. Anyone attempting to attack them would be deemed as a pirate and would be extirpated. For future fleets, unfortunately that isn’t my place to say. But when we make an agreement, we uphold said agreement. I hope that helps to answer that question, but if not, I’ll do my best to elaborate further.

Including the Triglavians themselves?

That has been a matter of debate between our forces. Some would allow the firing upon Triglavian forces, while others would defend them, including by attacking the retaliating ARC forces. We have not reached an agreement in that scenario, but I would propose that both ARC and Kybernaut forces apply remote repairs on the targeted ship, and if the attack was deemed too dangerous to ignore, warp off and return after they had left. I’m sure special clearance could be given to eliminate any vessel attempting to disrupt warp cores. As a personal note, I personally don’t see any issue with ARC forces defending themselves against aggressive Triglavian actions. I would instruct my fleetmates to hold fire. Again, that’s personal opinion and would depend on the FC at the time.

No no. I mean:

If the Trigs decided ‘these pilots do not have positive standings with us, so we will shoot them now’, would you have deemed them pirates and extirpated them? No ‘retaliation’ by ARC haulers—they’re freighters, after all, they can’t retaliate—just a simple and direct question of what you would have done ‘in this one situation’.

Would you have had your fleet shoot them?

You say you’d have your fleet hold fire, but that’s assuming ARC retaliation. And I can’t tell if you’re saying you’d have your fleet hold fire to keep them from defending ARC… or from shooting ARC. Absent that. Just the freighters. Would you deem those Trigs to be pirates and order the freighters not just repped, but actively defended, and the attackers ‘extirpated’? Or are your words empty?

There is great debate about what ARC should and should not do. Maybe someone should ask?

Now that’s the craziest thing I’ve ever read on the IGS. Asking someone what their intentions are ? Madness !

Instead, we must divine what ARC should do through vigorous speculation and conjecturing. A Proving Ground of opinions, as it were. With the objective of obtaining an idea that is exactly half baked.

Not 51% or 49% baked. 50.000 to a thousand decimals !

There is?

Ah. Me personally, in this specific situation, I would have had my fleet defend the Freighter, up to and including taking hostile action against pirates, Triglavians, anything at all since the terms were set for us to be an escort. While I would feel much regret for attacking my Triglavian brethren, I must hold my word. That aside, a freighter and escort fleet would presumably not pose any type of threat to any Triglavian forces, so to attack a fleet whose sole purpose is only to help evacuate innocent lives? That doesn’t sit well with me. So from me personally, yes, I would have my fleet to fire upon the Triglavians were they to show up and attack in that situation. Do keep in mind that I speak for only myself, and no others. Other Kybernauts may not share my feeling on the matter. I have no ill will towards ARC pilots, especially ones partaking in such a dangerous ordeal for such a good cause, so would defend them as I would defend my own.

Fair enough. Thank you for answering.

I wish I had read this sooner, but I did not as this was addressed to the people in Vale. If this effort is still ongoing, than I wish to help. I will contact you.
Also, I hope you’re aware of the people of Elusenia requiring evac: Fate of Elusenia, Vale IV - #3 by Che_Biko

Clear skies.

Greetings everyone,

Before I start with the After Action Report (AAR), I would like to express my gratitude, both personally and on behalf of ARC, with regard to:

  • The as of yet unknown party that has removed the Triglavian defences and fleets in the system of Vale. This has made a massive difference to the safety of the humanitarian mission;
  • The many capsuleers who assisted with this humanitarian mission as either a scout or as part of the escort fleet;
  • All of the non-capsuleers who have contributed to the success of this humanitarian mission;
  • The UNF who made the infrastructure of their relief efforts available. It helped with making certain aspects of the humanitarian mission go more smoothly;
  • The pro-triglavian forces who decided to stay away and keep the bloodthirsty elements within their ranks in line;

AAR of the humanitarian mission in Vale
In the hours leading up to the humanitarian mission, a few scouts started to fully map the content of space in Vale. What was noteworthy was the very large presence of Serpentis activity, signs of roque drone activity and the seeming lack of Triglavian forces in space.

After the system of Vale was fully mapped, visual inspections were carried out on the planets, stations, upwell structure and asteroid fields. This confirmed that there was virtually no Triglavian presence in space. As this was in strong opposition of earlier scouting reports, ARC therefore believes that an as of yet unknown party has gone into Vale and removed the strong Triglavian defences and fleets. The current estimates of ARC indicate that this happened within the 24 hours leading up to the humanitarian mission.

At 1815 NEST, scouting elements made their way into Vale and took op positions above the planets and near the stations and the Cat gate. They reported that there was very little capsuleer activity within the system.

At 1830 NEST, the ARC fleet started forming and organising itself in Dodixie with the goal of departing for Cat 1900 NEST.

At exactly 1900 NEST, the ARC fleet undocked and made it’s way to Cat. The Obelisk class freighter “Skittish Jane” was waiting in Cat and was carrying 2.000 shuttles to help pickup refugees and transport them to the “Skittish Jane”.

At around 1910 NEST, the ARC fleet and the “Skittish Jane” linked up at the Vale gate in Cat. The ARC fleet entered Vale, ready to defend the “Skittish Jane” in case it would be attacked. Fortunately, no hostile forces were present and the “Skittish Jane” entered Vale and was escorted to the Vale VI - Moon 2 - Chemal Tech Research Center station. This station was chosen for several reasons:

  • ARC believes that this station offered the best protection for vessels entering and leaving the station;
  • Due to the distance to the Cat gate, this was one of the more pressing location to save refugees;
  • Due to the distance to the Cat gate, vessels near the station would have the biggest window to get to safety in case hostile forces would enter Vale through Cat.

At 1918 NEST, the “Skittish Jane” docked at the Vale VI – Moon 2 – Chemal Tech Research Center station and at 1935 NEST, the first shuttles started to launch and moved to pickup locations on the planets and other station in Vale, the Vale II - Moon 1 - Material Acquisition Mining Outpost.

At 1945 NEST, the “Skittish Jane” started housing the refugees of the Chemal Tech Research Center.

At 2000 NEST, the first shuttles with refugees started to arrive, resulting in a steady stream of refugees that boarded the “Skittish Jane”.

At 2100 NEST, the shuttles reported that they no longer encountered refugees at the pickup locations or in their immediate vicinity. The shuttles were instructed to make a final sweep before returning to the Chemal Tech Research Center. The crew of the shuttles were instructed to leave the shuttles in the station and board the “Skittish Jane”.

The “Skittish Jane” proceeded to undock and was escorted out of Vale and docked safely at the Cat VI - Moon 7 - Federal Intelligence Office Logistic Support station. The rescued refugees have been entrusted to the care of the authorities of the Gallente Federation.

Ending note
During this humanitarian mission, there was only one brief moment of conflict. A small group of 4 ships, belonging to the Triglavian collective, warped in on the escort fleet and opened fire. As the Triglavian ships fired first and were a threat to the safety of the shuttles, the escort fleet engaged and destroyed the 4 ships.

Overall, the humanitarian mission is considered a success, even though we will not have been able to evacuate everyone that would want to leave. Current estimates put the number of refugees from the planets in the hundreds and those from the stations in the thousands.
ARC will leave further reports on the refugees (such as exact numbers, if they have undergone bioadaptation or not, overall health, etc.) to the authorities.

ARC has learned a great deal and has begun to prepare for further missions into other Final Liminality systems. More details will follow in a separate post.
