Belt Spawning + Npc Miners = Dang it Bobby

Maybe the last couple of character that replied missed the original post.

The issue is not my ability or skills at mining, the issue is the spawn formula and NPC miners but thank you all for the replies and offers.

If you are unable to figure out how to find ore when there is plenty everywhere then yes it is your skill as a player that is the problem

No it is not, it is a belt spawn formula/NPC miner issue. If one whole Region of space is having belts spawned at 50% their full value or less and then the NPC miners mine for hours before players can play, it is a game issue and not player skill issue.

But this is not just a Regional issue, as I have been all over Minmatar controlled space today to check the belts. This is an issue in Minmatar space.

Have you considered it may be intentional to push heavy mining to structures?

He doesnt get it .

Ah itā€™s good to see the cesspool that is ā€˜general discussionā€™ hasnā€™t changed. A quick check on Evewho, and it looks like the op has tried to 0.0 life and appears to have left itā€¦

For the OP, you are correct, apparently this was a CCP idea that nobody really cares about. Of all the above ā€˜adviceā€™ the one that is somewhat helpful is that EvE really isnā€™t meant to be played solo. While you can play, many parts of the game will be inaccessible to a solo player. As for finding a good corp, I wish you well in that search, they are hard to find. Nonetheless, if you know what you are doing, a solo player can survive. Since you want to mine in highsec and want to avoid the NPC miners you can:

  1. Find a system a couple jumps away from the npc corps that mine (like 2 or 3), they wonā€™t touch those belts.

  2. Use your scanner and mine the belts you discover with your scanner (you donā€™t need probes). The NPCā€™s apparently canā€™t use the scanner.

  3. There are a few level 4 missions that have nice belts in them. Run the mission, clear out the rats, but donā€™t turn it in. As long as the mission stays open, the belt remains and you can mine to your heartā€™s content.

  4. If you like to live a bit more dangerously, you can check some class 1/2 wormholes. People tend to ignore mining sites in them and only run sleeper sites. But you need to watch the scanner like a hawk and GTFO when you see probes in local, it can be done. Also if any sleepers show up, you probably want to run, the prospect works nicely for this (it also works in losec). Just play smart.

I believe CCP has begun to realize the depth of the mistakes theyā€™ve made in highsec over the last 5 years or so, as they are feeling it in their wallet rather acutely. So maybe they will see this thread, but I wouldnā€™t hold my breath, remember they let go of their community teamā€¦

Iā€™m not sure what everyone is smoking in this thread, but Iā€™m all over Highsec all the time and there is ore everywhere in quantities no one could ever mine.

They just dont wanna leave their system.

OP, go join some corp in Syndicated and mine some real ore if ya got the ballz for it. I make 70 mil ticks without even trying to fund my PvP.

Please do not tell me you commit the blasphemy of a survey scanner on a catalyst

And as many cargo expander IIā€™s as possible!

No, itā€™s just a fact that there are systems with no one in them and completely filled belts. Just move away from tradehubs and systems with ice anoms and you will find plenty of ore.

Or put down an athanor after you can afford it and get quadruple the isk per hour in yield

I hear you can also safely mine in a hulk again at a moon if you hide your station beacon.

Hereā€™s a way to discourage npc miners, target what they mining . They mostly leave that alone for awhile. Did this with an orca, they had 1 venture and a Mammoth in the belt after the high end or. Just mine it before they do.

Duh. But thatā€™s the thing with people, they are conservative by nature due to their dependancies on primary needs. This translates to the virtual as well. They donā€™t like to move and will rationalise just about anything in order to support their perception.

Iā€™ve seen systems where NPC Miners are so heavily present that the humans running around get the short end of the stick, yet all they do is sit there and talk about it.

I ran into a three year old player in Hek not long ago that had never been more than a few jumps away from there. He found it inconceivable to go the six jumps to a place I was recommending for what he wanted to be doing.

Sometimes you just have to shrug and walk away.

Speaking for Mr Epeen until his ā€œvacationā€ is over :sunglasses:

I agree with you 100%.

The whole premise and implementation of NPC Mining Fleets was just another foolish gamble that CCP made which had adverse effects to what they actually wanted.

The NPC Mining Fleets were meant to be competition for high sec miners, however the amount they mine is insane, especially a fleet of skiffs or macks. I can totally understand the frustration of OP, if he comes on late in the day. I havenā€™t mined in years, but even before the NPC miners it was sometimes hard to find good belts to mine if you logged in late. The only benefit these fleets provide is the fact you get to pop the haulers, although for mostly minimal rewards.

Ima is also correct, there are plenty of systems with hardly any miners and full belts. If OP is too stubbron or lazy to move to another system or region, that is something CCP can not fix. What is so special about Minmatar space? I have had to move more times than I can count in my 9 years of EVE, itā€™s just part of the game.

My advice would be check Dotlan for a dead end or quiet system with 6-10 belts in whichever regions you want to try and scout it out. I know a guy that has spent over 3 years mining in the same system and never has a problem getting ore. If you do your homework and find the right system, you should have no more complaints.

I donā€™t understand you people why keep puting up with crazy npcs stealing your rocks and poping your ships to mine scordite or whatever .Nullsec is quite friendly for mining and you get better ores
