Operators!
My Name is Benzmann, and I am running for CSM 20. My Primary focus is to improve the overall health of Lowsec and content
About me
I am 37 years old, I’m icelandic, born and raised in iceland.
I’ve played Eve Online non-stop since i was 15 years old.
First time i got drunk was at Fanfest 2005, i’ve attended every fanfest since!
My Story
I have been around for decades, i first tried eve at my best friends house in december 2003, i didint think much of it back then, then a few weeks later i kept thinking about eve, and how cool it looked, and the potential it brought to the table, no other game back then was anything close to Eve Online, eventually i started playing Eve Online in April 2004 and i havent stopped or taken a break since.
My story is long; I could probably write a book about my story and various fights and conquests, but here is the shorter version. Even though it’s long, it’s been over 20 years, you can’t really compress that stuff into a couple of lines…
2004-2005
I started my career as a highsec miner like most players. I lived in the highsec system of Osmeden in Gallente highsec. It took me a week to mine enough ore to build my first Thorax, and about 2-3 weeks to mine enough ore to build my first battleship (Armageddon)
One day, I ventured into the lowsec system Maut, and that’s where things changed for me. I started shooting lowsec miners and stealing their ore.
After that, there was no turning back, I was hooked
I eventually left the highsec group I flew with since it became inactive, I made my own corp, and joined an alliance called “Fountain Alliance”
We lived in the Fountain Region and would roam and fight others in the nearby regions of Delve, Querious, and Syndicate.
Once Fountain Alliance disbanded, I moved back to lowsec to continue my Piracy career. I lived in lowsec close to Syndicate and would hunt travelers going through there that were on their way to null. Back then, I was mostly active around Harroule / MHC-R3 and Reblier / 6-CZ49
That’s where I met Skywalker, and together we formed an alliance called Pirate Coalition.
2005-2008
During these years, I started making a name for myself as a Pirate in Lowsec and Highsec.
Everyone knew who Benzmann and Skywalker were; we were among the most famous and ruthless pirates around that time.
Eventually, Skywalker decided to take a break for a while, and we kept the alliance alive on the side.
I made a few corps of my own and did some highsec wardeccing. Basically, I moved into a highsec system where a lot of mission runners were living, and I wardecced every corp that lived in that system. I was alone, eventually the groups started working together against me, but they had no PvP experience, but I had some fun times
Late in 2006 i joined a corp called OctoberSnow Corp, that my friend from school was in, we lived in Hagilur, this was back before CCP changed the gate routes, This area had more traffic come through it than Rancer has today, it was a good way to make extra ISK by gatecamping the Bei gate, back then everyone used bookmarks to warp to gates, otherwise the default warp-in was 15km, so i sat there 155km from the stargate, avoiding sentry gun fire in my sniping Armageddon, instapopping everything that passed by, the leader of that corp was the notorious pirate Ginger Magician.
Back then, Ginger Magician was the most hated person in Eve Online. I wouldn’t say he was the most fun type to fly with. Ginger Magician eventually got permabanned from Eve, not gonna dive deeper into that, but after he got banned, his corp “OctoberSnow Corp” disbanded.
After the fall of Ginger Magician, I moved over to a corp called xtort
I knew the CEO from that corp from my previous days when I was in Fountain Alliance
It was mostly just me and Ricco Lonestar (CEO) that were active playing around Gallente lowsec and dunking locals with our supers
Eventually, Ricco Lonestar decided to quit Eve to focus on IRL stuff.
I decided to message Skywalker and ask him if we should bring Pirate Coalition back to life.
Skywalker came back, and me and him teamed up and breathed new life into Pirate Coalition again.
I joined Skywalkers Corp MAFIA We recruited new pirate corps. A notorious Pirate named Tiller joined us. Together we set sails for the Heimatar area, we lived in Auga / Amamake during that time, and got some great PvP / Piracy content, mostly small gang pvp.
In Pirate Coalition, I was an Alliance leader and an FC. I FCed small/medium fleets, mostly kitchen sink, since that was the meta back then.
2009-2013
Me and Skywalker moved to a Wormhole for a while. We lived in WH space, farmed ISK, gained a lot of wealth, and when we saw an opportunity for PvP content, we went for it.
Eventually, I got bored with living in a WH. So I came out of the hole and went back to lowsec with enough ISK to support my piracy career for years to come.
i jumped between a few corps during this period, and made some good friends.
2013-2014
i flew with a USTZ-based corp called Bondage Goat Zombie, in the alliance called Strictly Unprofessional.
We lived in Amarr lowsec back then, PvPing, and making ISK. We fought Shadow Cartel a lot over POCOs. Eventually, the leader of that corp quit Eve, and i found myself looking for a new group to fly with.
2015
In 2015, i tried to breathe life into Pirate Coalition again, but with little success, people did not believe in it as the lowsec PvP meta had changed.
So i joined a corp called “Disbanding as we speak” which was run by Jericho Stormcloud.
That’s when i met Baltrom, we had some fun, but flying with Jericho, he never wanted to fully commit to a fight, and we often got blueballed just because of his decision. The corporation was not very stable; it got disbanded 2-3 times, if i recall, most of us went our separate ways.
2016
In 2016, i had started my own corp, i was living in Genesis lowsec around that time in an alliance called Bad Intention.
We fought Siege Green and some Russians over that area back then. Eventually, we had no one to fight in that area, and internal drama caused the collapse of Bad Intention.
Luckily, around the same time, Baltrom reached out to me and invited me to join No Handlebars with my corp.
Some of my best times are from that era. Flying with Baltrom in Black Rise, we lived back then in Enaluri.
We were the underdog in the area, with a lot of big groups around us, but that didn’t stop us; we didn’t back down from a chance to fight.
Baltrom then got bored at some point and went to live in a WH with some of the bois.
But i went on to Gallente lowsec to do some Piracy, i got reached out by some old friends that i flew with in Bad Intention, and my corp got recruited into the Alliance Escalating Entropy. Escalating Entropy days were fun, we had some really good fun baiting out Snuffed Out Supers.
Escalating Entropy didn’t last long, but it was very fun while it lasted.
2017-2018
After the fall of Escalating Entropy, I did various things, i went to Nullsec to the drone regions to farm isk for a while
After a few months, i went back to lowsec
At this point, Baltrom had returned, so that’s when i joined The Congregation
We had some good times, think we flew both in Black Rise area and Heimatar space around that time. But then Baltrom got bored again with lowsec and went into WH space.
i didn’t want to live in WH space again, so i went out on the street again and jumped between some corps for about 1.5 years
i continued to fly around the Heimatar area with those corps, but nothing was as fun as my time in The Congregation.
2019-2023
Baltrom came back, i reached out to him, and he invited me to join.
During this time, we lived in Amamake, and we dominated the warzone. We fought Siege Green, all of the Warzone groups, Did He Say Jump, basically everyone that tried to oppose us.
Every year, Baltrom wanted to make a new alliance.
We formed the alliances, Same Great Taste, 420 MLG TWINTURBU 3000 EMPIRE ALLIANCE RELOADED, and HIDDEN LEAF VILLAGE NINJA AssAssin SQUAD eSports
Out of all my years, this time was the peak of content. The whole warzone started forming together against us. We had gotten help from Snuffed Out to get all of the R64 moons in the area that were within jump range for caps around Amamake, and we mined them all. It was a good income stream for our members and for our corporation to grow.
In The Congregation, i was a director, and i managed all of the IT infrastructure that we had, Alliance Auth services, Teamspeak Server, and Discord, etc
I remained in The Congregation until 2024. There was very little content for us in the end, and Baltrom got scammed out of the AT ships that our AT team won in the Alliance Tournament. This was a breaking point for the corp; the corp went completely inactive.
2024-Today
JUTSU / The Congregation eventually disbanded, and the rest of the guys that were active formed a new corp called “One Risky Click” and we joined Snuffed Out, where we are today. It doesn’t really matter to me under which flag i fly as long as I’m flying with my bois, i have been flying with the same group of people for many years, and there is no other place i want to be
P.S., I’ve made a lot of friends throughout the years playing this game, and I’m still in contact with Skywalker and Ricco Lonestar today, even though they don’t play Eve anymore.
And if i happen to be traveling in the country they live in, i always drop them a message so we can meet up for a coffee or beer
And i occasionally drunk call Baltrom every now and then when I’m drunk.
Expertise
I’m an expert on Piracy and guerrilla warfare,
I’m probably the oldest active Pirate in Eve, and i have been called one of the “Grandfathers of Piracy” in Eve Online.
I’m an expert on lowsec pvp
Why am i applying for CSM ?
As a long-standing and passionate member of the EVE Online community.
I’ve witnessed firsthand the impact of misguided changes that have driven many dedicated players away from the game we all love.
This trend is not just disappointing, it’s a call to action. By seeking a seat on the Council of Stellar Management (CSM), I’m committing to advocate for thoughtful, player-focused improvements that reflect the needs and aspirations of our diverse community. Together, we can shape a better future for EVE Online.
What qualities set me apart from other candidates?
-
I have lived in lowsec most of my Eve Career, probably longer than anyone else that is still active today.
I know lowsec inside and out. -
I make my own content when things get slow.
I’m not a ping warrior, i do not need anyone to hold my hand when to undock. -
I’ve learned how to adapt my playstyle to any changes CCP has made to the game throughout the years.
i do not give up easily. -
I’m dedicated to the things i believe in, i think over 20 years of playing this video game is more than enough proof of my dedication.
-
i can lift Tyrion above my head, i have not seen any other candidate do that.
(Yes, this is the new unit of measurement)
What do i want?
Lowsec Revitalization.
Lowsec holds immense potential, yet many regions remain underutilized and sparsely populated. A significant number of systems see little to no activity, combat sites go untouched, exploration opportunities are ignored, and the vibrant ecosystem that should define lowsec is noticeably absent.
In Comparison, Highsec is oversaturated. PvE content is consumed almost instantly upon spawning, leading to fierce competition over sites, despite their popularity, which offer relatively poor financial returns.
This imbalance is not just a gameplay issue; it’s an economic one. Lowsec sites are already more profitable than their highsec counterparts, but the current incentives are insufficient to drive meaningful migration. To address this, we must enhance the profitability of lowsec PvE content and create stronger economic motivations for players to venture into these regions.
By doing so we can:
Stimulate player-driven activity in underpopulated systems.
Encourage risk vs reward gameplay.
Foster emergent content through increased interaction between PvE and PvP players.
Lowsec should be a thriving middle ground, dangerous yes, but rewarding enough to justify the risk. Let’s make lowsec not just viable, but desirable.
Supers and Titans.
i want to see Supers and Titans being used more.
Prices on them are way too high in my opinion, i would like to see Supers priced around 40-50b and Titans around 120-150b
Nullsec Jump Bridges
NS Jump bridges need fatigue.
Lowsec is unable to brawl without a nullbloc showing up within 15 minutes in a blob of ships.
Citadels
Keepstars should be limited to 1 per region.
This will make fighting over them worth it and will incentivize big alliances strategically placing them and removing them.
If there is no reason to fight, there will be no fight. More fights mean more players engaged, more destruction, and more reason to play the game.
If this proves to be successful, 1 fortizar/tatara/sotiyo per constellation or system should be considered as well.
Command destroyer booshers 5 sec hic effect (like with carriers)
Command destroyers can now line up at 200/300km range and boosh with as many booshers within seconds
There is no tactical antiplay and ruins well-thought-out comps and tactical play, both null and low
Forward Operating Bases (FOBs)
For years, these things have been a problem for highsec miners; recently, CCP decided to move them also into lowsec.
I’m ok with these bases being in both Highsec and lowsec, but they need to be more rewarding.
People only run them to get rid of them from their area, i think these bases should have a chance to drop a faction battleship BPCs and other battleship-sized faction mods. It would also be nice to see a Serpentis FOBs.
Addressing Orca Bumping in Highsec
One of the persistent challenges facing highsec industrial players is the disruptive practice of Orca bumping—where high-speed battleships intentionally bump industrial command ships from ice and asteroid belts. While some may view this as a minor nuisance, the reality is that it undermines the gameplay experience for miners who simply wish to engage in their profession peacefully and productively.
This issue highlights a broader imbalance: miners currently have no viable countermeasure to such interference, leaving them vulnerable and disenfranchised within their own playstyle
I propose a targeted adjustment to industrial command ships—specifically, enhancing their resistance to bumping while the Industrial Core is active. This would empower highsec miners to operate with greater stability and confidence
