I think I put in over 400 hours in that game. But I love the cyberpunk genera in general so a game that allowed me to immerse myself in that world was ace.
I’m not sure if I’m interpreting what it is you are saying correctly, but I’ll give it a go anyway.
Play the game how you like, and in the fashion in which it is most enjoyable and makes the most sense to you. It’s really no one’s business, and I’m certainly not going to shame you or tell you that you’re playing wrong.
I take the same approach to EvE. I mean sure, I’ll sometimes roleplay as an environmental terrorist activist. I may not understand the miner mentality. Or the F1 monkey. But if that’s how they enjoy the game, the more power to them.
That’s fantastic to read and like well just want to mine in peace.
Roleplay comes second and it is pleasing to learn that others enjoy the simple quality of eve online.
Hmmm… maybe they should build the car body out of those glasses? They’re unbreakable!
Surprised this game still holds a £49.99 price tag on steam, with regular promo of £24.99.
It’s a shame there are a lot of older games still demanding a price tag of $50 or more. Games are like produce. They have a shelf life and should be priced accordingly.
Cybeypunk has sold 25 million units and won awards, perhaps we will see this expensive price tag for another year and then we might see a £19.99 release of the game. I’ve had my eye on this game for a good while now.
What do you think will be the price of GTA 6? I think the game only could get as high as £120, and then the collectors version could be as high as £300.
I just add games to my Steam wishlist and only buy them when they are cheaper in some sale.
I got Fallout 4 for £5.99 in 2019, Dishonored 2 for £3.99 in 2021, and recently got Outer Wilds for £11.99 and No Man’s Sky for £19.99.
Lets add some that I remember having played them like mad…
From the old DOS days:
- DOOM / DOOM II
- Duke Nukem 3D
- Dune II
- X-Wing / Tie Fighter
- Wing Commander Privateer
Then in the more modern era:
- StarCraft BroodWar
- Diablo I + Diablo II
- EVE Online
- StarCraft II + Addons
- Witcher III + Addons
- Alien Isolation
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- God of War + Ragnarök
I don’t pay full price for games. And now with the advent of variable pricing, I put something on my wish list. Steam says, “oh hey! Cash cow, maximum price.” Then it sits there for a year, or 2 or even three as the slowly realize that I’m cheap, and miserly and once it’s down to 20% or less of the original price, I may buy it.
And DLC just pisses me off. It should be built into the game to begin with. Season passes are just as ridiculous. (That’s why I stopped playing Destiny.)
Yes I hear you. I play gran turismo 7 and was wondering how it was financed as it has regular updates and then realized it’s part of the playstation subscription which has 118m members.
I don’t mind paying a few more pounds for some DLC/Extra content, the original dead space trilogy had a good DLC it was another story after you had completed the original game which i actually enjoyed, I had no problem paying for the DLC as it was such a great sci-fi.
Yeah they really should just call them Mining permit

I didn’t play many newer games, so my list is bit old, but here it is:
-
Diablo II - while the original is unplayable now due to the graphic, and it kinda lacks content compared to PoE - running Baal over and over gets old soon, I spent crazy amount of time play it, single player and ttrading items with school mates using diskettes and 3rd party program, then on battle.net where I enjoyed the seasonal ladder hunt and trading stuff I looted for “forum golds” via d2jsp. And mods, which I dabbled into myself, hundreds hours spent in Zy-El. I didn’t buy remaster because all they did was to ■■■■ modding community with that, but till today I think D2 has the best balanced and fun skill mechanic, and I use it a lot as a reference for my own projects.
-
Planescape Torment - epic story, high replayability, shocking twists and absolutely unique plot. I didn’t replay this for a long time, but that is probably because the story is still after all those years imprinted in my brain. So I don’t feel need to remind it to myself.
-
Baldur’s Gate 2 - similar to PT, epic story, shocking twists, not so big replayability by itself however there were many great mods that fixed the problem. Also the Throne of Bhall expansion was nuts, pushed to game to much more action oriented gameplay and I loved the High Level Ability concept. The expansion also raised difficulty and I loved the challenge.
-
Neverwinter Nights 1 - supposed to be direct successor of BG2, this game didn’t turn so well on itself, the base campaign was average, however the Hordes of the Underdark fixed that. That was probably the first time I saw mechanic where the game end shows the player consequences of his actions and what happened to the world and other characters after he finished the game. Anyway, NWN1 is biggest strength is moddability. Thanks to that I still play the game to this day and I am hosting my own multiplayer server for dozens of players. The game comes with powerful editor in which you can make your own campaign or even multiplayer server. Therefore there are hundreds of fan made modules and hundreds of multiplayer server you can play. The enhanced version improved graphic, fixed lot of bugs in base game and even increased the moddability.
-
Jagged Alliance 2 - my favourite turn based strategy game. None of the successors get the feel right, not even JA3. JA2 has lot of interesting characters you can play for, very cool mechanics, hundreds of weapons and ammunition and very high player freedom how to finish it. And again, moddability. In fact I could never play the vanilla anymore. The unofficial patch 1.13 is what changed this game to masterpiece. I used to work as a developer on it too for some time. There are some problem with this patch, namely “too much options” and the fact that it comes with no default that would suit anyone, but if you take the time and set everything the way you like it, it will push the replayability to sky. Thousands more guns, new ammo types, and the whole new inventory system. In fact the most hours I spent in this game was on micromanagment - map inventories, sorting, repairing and hauling loot to merchants who gives best price, and creating a “army clothing” (LBE gear) perfectly suited to my chosen soldiers weight and specialization.
There were other games I liked, Operation Flashpoint, HOMaM 3+4, Warcraft 3, Fallout 2, Icewind Dale 2, Assassin Creed 2, Mass Effect series. But only so many can be best can’t they?
So, yeah I am RPG freak. Don’t ask me what I am doing here in this game. I don’t know myself.
Did you ever play Prince of Persia
The sword fighting was so good in that one.
Oh yes. That is a classic.

I hate to say this, but kids nowadays don’t know how big of a deal it was to play when it first came out.
