Better Interactive floating combat damage

Suggestion: Improved Floating Damage Text

I’d love to see the current damage notification system updated. Right now, damage appears as a stationary window or box, which feels disconnected from the action.

Instead, it would be much more immersive if damage numbers floated above the ship you’re currently targeting, similar to many modern games. Seeing damage appear directly over the target would make combat feel more responsive and provide immediate visual feedback without having to shift your focus elsewhere on the screen.

I understand this approach wouldn’t work well in every situation—such as large fleet engagements or when multiple targets are stacked together—where it could quickly become cluttered. However, for PvE content, solo play, and small-gang PvP, I think it would significantly enhance the combat experience.

An ideal implementation could even make this an optional UI setting, allowing players to choose between the current stationary damage display and the new floating damage text based on their preferences and the type of content they’re running.

Overall, I think this would be a relatively small UI enhancement that could make combat feel more dynamic, immersive, and satisfying.

That sounds like a nightmare just because very rarely am I looking at the target that I am shooting. Sometimes, sure, when the pocket is winding down, but very rarely.

Whereas the damage notification that we currently use is always right there, EZPZ, no fuss.

Thanks for you feedback

What the heck? That is the first thing I disable in any game. And the first reason to shut off any stream where someone is playing with that enabled.

If it’s optional, well, I don’t care as long as I can disable it. But do I think it would make EVE a better game? Certainly not, yet a few people might like it. So, 5/10 from me. -_-

Haha.
