Bittervets vs carebears: Wardec rebalance edition

If I didn’t care about the game I’d agree with you. However, I actually like this game and am kinda not okay with some rando shitlord who’s gotten themselves a first year education in marketing coming along and dragging their shitty ass all up and down my favorite game.

But you don’t play EVE so there is nothing to measure but that single noctis loss of yours.

you are indeed nothing but a troll.

any chance you can post just the caps locked crap only? i mean it makes more sense and saves the rest of us from having to read at least 70% of your dribble.

Yeah i’m constantly repeating myself because the “eve is a pvp game” crap is also repeated and it simply makes no sense to keep a status that is bad for the game…and i will not stop in doing it…

Simply give PVE an undisturbed place(which is no big deal and definetly NOT the “end of eve” for the game) and we all have what we want.

But you KEEP saying that the current status is the ONLY POSSIBLE status of the game and your reason is : WE DID IT THIS WAY FOR 15 YEARS NOW…

Really?

I mean REALLY?

This is your reason to continue in a way that scares away players?

And you do not see the problem here?

The grizzled wild west cowboy, with blistered thighs, balls crushed by his saddle, back hurting from the brisk gallop from the nearby village, spits as a Tesla car goes past : “Casual.” He knows driving around in an air-conditioned box, guided by satellite, strapped in by a seat belt and protected by an airbag will never be as badass as riding a horse. Wind in your hair, smelly armpits, and riding around in a cloud of horse fart is serious business. Plus the opportunity to let off your six-shooter at some poor soul on the side of the road, or taking advantage of some helpless damsel should the opportunity arise, all the while skillfully avoiding anyone with a seven-shooter is what truly makes a man. He then proceeds to light his tobacco pipe by rubbing two sticks together, as he knows a lighter is much too easy and benign.

I swear, EVE is home to one of the most embittered, entrenched, polarized (no pun intended) communities.
The irony of a group of people flying spaceships, inhabiting a fantastic sci-fi environment is so apprehensive towards change. I’m almost inclined to believe some of you are just as active and vocal on smartphone makers’ forums, with their pesky Android and iOs, lamenting the killing of the GameBoy.

Some of you act like the cool kids’ club who don’t want to let the “nerds” and the “loosers” in your tree house because they don’t smoke cigarettes and don’t chug six-packs of light bear bought with your fake IDs from the liqueur store on the corner. Virtual edgy hipsters who like this one obscure band, but ready to burn all their mixtapes the second you hear it blaring out of some “normal” kid’s headphones.

Stop acting like such entitled special snowflakes and stop fearing someone who appreciates other things than you might actually like something about this game. I know you don’t see it now, but a more varied audience just might result in a better game, even for you the Space Catholic Church group, ready to burn at the stake anyone who says the world ain’t flat.

This, ultimately falls on CCP, who have done something unprecedented (to my knowledge) in the world of MMOs, namely the CSM. Through this they have proven to be the one game developer most in-tune with their player base. What other MMO maker has anything close to such a vivid connection to the needs and desires of their players ? In fact, just this year quite a few game makers have proven to be completely out of synch with their customers by releases that tarnish their reputations. But some of you have taken this bi-directional feedback channel for granted, and started confusing advice for power of decision. What’s best for the game might now be the best for you, something most of you fail to understand seeing how every single change in the game, every “0.2 is now 0.4”, every module that does something a little bit different when you click it, sees you all taking to the forums with pitchforks and torches to denounce CCPs treachery. But as most of you keep reminding everyone posting a different viewpoint, here’s a “Deal with it” right back at you. “Durr, it’s a sandbox” you say, and yet throw a fit every time they add or remove or throw a spoonful on the other side of the box.

Despite the ridiculous claims of “hundreds of thousands” that CCP throws in your face every time player count comes up, the reality is a bit different. First of all, the numbers of players are split between Tranquility and Serenity. Secondly, seeing how there’s people out there running 20 PI alts, or entire mining fleets on one machine, where do you think those artificially inflated numbers really are ? What’s the average number of players you’ve seen online lately ? 20-ish k on weekdays, 30-ish on weekends ? What percentage of those are alts ? If CCP would cross-check IPs rather than “active accounts”, i’d be surprised if the number of actual pilots in the game runs up to 6-figure numbers. The game’s been running for 15 years, as someone pointed out above ? It did so through all the changes you hated and belittled. You want it to run for another 15 ? Well, it’s gonna need an oil change, a fresh set of tires, and a modern paint job on the outside at least if this dinosaur is gonna cut the mustard in tomorrow’s world, or it’s gonna go the way of the dinosaurs. So stop being so damn stubborn thinking you’re the bee’s knees because you play EVE, and god forbid CCP should dare sugar-coat it’s sodomy, lest the hoards of “carebears” come in and ruin your fun.

With the current trend that has apparently greatly accelerated over the last 6 months or so, it seems apparent that CCP is grooming bots to take over the heavy lifting when it comes to server population.

Well all I want is a safe spot for PVE…
The changes that HAVE to be done and WILL be made will be accepted by me IF they contain this single demand.

In opposite to this stands a dogmatic PVP community that seems not to be able to even make this tiny concession.
It’s even worse because they CONSTANTLY declare the end of EVE if this concession is made and,to be serious, this lack of willingness to even give PVE the dirt under their fingernails buffels me everytime i am hit by it,because it shows that this is not about reason nor logic,it’s about pure dogmatism.

Even if you have a voice of reason approach they STILL taunt you and keep continuing those armageddon talks because that’s all they have…there is no reason nor any logic left in their argumentation, just the same “EVE is a PVP game and a sandbox” endless loop that is repeated over and over again…

OK… let me take you down a notch before these angry, grumpy people realize what you just said…

You did get a safe spot for PvE : It’s called Abyssal Deadspace.
The concept behind the new wardec changes is also an attempt in the right direction.

I’m not talking about changing anything in the fundamental nature of the game. That’s not gonna fly.But aA part of this community doesn’t understand that making the game unpleasant for some just because you can (“hurr, durr, sandbox” kind of attitude), will ultimately make the game unpleasant for everyone. The forums are awash with talks of swarms of bots and RMT-ers. With increasing amounts of people, even from among the “elderly”, quietly slipping out the back door, and “fresh blood” being put off by the game’s ruthless and unforgiving nature, who will the die-hard fans play with 5 years down the road ? They’d rather stand tall on the prow of their sinking ship, proud they’re dying on their feet because they refused to compromise.
I’m talking about this silly resilience to new. Change is good. It’s what progress comes out of. But some of these hardcore fans i bet would still rather use pigeons over sending a text, because it’s “how we like it”.
And the change i’m referring to has little to do with changing anything with the underlying premises of the game, rather with the attitude of some of these people.

That’s not a tiny concession. How dare you accuse people of selfishness when you ‘demand’ 100% safety.

IN A CLEARLY RESTRICTED PART OF EVE CALLED HIGH…

Not in all of eve…

This is the “demand” a stated for months now…and still no one could or had convinced me that this would be “the end of eve”…

You cannot change the attitude of a group of people that has been spoiled for 15 years so badly that they call eve their property…

If you follow those discussion through different threads you will read things like “eve should rather die than changed a bit” “this will be the end of eve” or even “PVE just exists as content for PVP”…

I mean this shows that this people are lost for even the slightest change to the better…they will NEVER accept it…

So your mission has to be to reach the more resonable group which -ime- is the group that sees PVP just as “hobby” between PVE sessions…
THEY know both sides and aren’t as dogmatic as pure PVP’ers and they should be more open to a change…

The “PVE is just content for PVP” group is already lost and will surely ragequit if the course of this game ist strictly changed to mainstream…

Well ■■■■■■■ said, my man.

You must be new. Making a game easier and more accessibly isn’t always a good thing, especially in a game like eve where that’s a core part of it’s appeal. You equate not wanting certain changes to not wanting change at all, and even then, considering ccps track record of complete trash changes I don’t think people apprehension is unwarranted.

Yeah who cares about what other people do in an mmo in which their very existence effects you.

hahhahaha :joy:

Yeah let’s make the game easier and shittier so a bunch of casuals will want to play (that will fix it)

Sounds good to me, if the can roll back some of the trash changes i the last few years too, that’d be great

If you don’t like eve then you’re always welcome to try an easier mmo like wow (easier and more accessible than ever)

That will never change. When you have learned the hard way with a lot of significant losses, you look down on soft people that beg for changes because they are unable to cope with some difficulties. Whether you like it or not, that’s only human nature.

Rubbish. Absolute rubbish. You want to restrict a huge area to one activity only, to appease your inability to adapt or play the game within its stated parameters despite multiple concessions to your playstyle!

So a “go away” is your solution for the problems of the game?

Everybody with a different approach should just leave you alone?

This is EXACTLY the attitute i’m talking about…ignoring ,better denying any problem the game has, there is no problem because we did it like this for 15 years now and those 15 years are all that counts…
The fact that the world has changed during this years are wiped aside because why would we change the game if we did things did like we did for 15 years?

Well…why do we use smartphones and not still written letters to communicate?
In this sector you seem to understand that change is not bad at all…why the dogmatism regarding an obviously necessary change?

We can talk about the way of the change and its implementation, even its timeframe, but not about the need of a safe haven for PVE.
