BlackOut: Dissecting the Experiment

Well you’re doing something wrong then. I was out on a roam the other night and we saw several Rorquals and got a good engagement going.

Except you’re completely wrong. Blackout was never supposed to be a permanent change. CCP even said this themselves weeks ago.

I thought your agenda was being a dick and as to false well you are aren’t you. I thought that was a fact so obvious it didn’t need to be backed up.

In other words you’re just blowing hot air. Gotcha.

Yeah after Null started the whine fest and started producing salt by the ton.

Sorry, but the sequence of events doesn’t fit the narrative you’re trying to spin.

Maybe you should tune into the plethora of media CCP publishes outside the game.

yeah rorqual and cap pve is the mostly thing you can find in nullsec now at green time zone.

then you need a big fleet to counter standing fleet defence.

There were a few Covetors, I even killed on.

So is the content gone or not? You’re contradicting yourself here.

i see on your killboard you re a wh player, so i understand you arguying for blackout stay activ.

but you not understand eve is collapsing with blackout so it is not good for you also in short term

all stat confirm eve is collapsing, and this is the reason CCP cancel blackout before it is to late

My living in a WH has nothing to do with your inability to find content.

With 30,000 accounts banned due to RMT/botting, and with ISK faucets and sinks getting balanced, EVE is healthier than it’s been in 5 years.

yeah you can insult me if that make you happy

the fact is blackout is a big ■■■■ and CCP remove it

What? You said you couldn’t find content.

The fact is, Blackout was temporary from the beginning and Hilmar has said that CCP is very pleased with the results.

Anything else?

i think CCP see in blackout a good idea for people earn less isk and then buy more plex with irl money for play

I mean, this is just a bad faith argument with no substantiation. But I’ll humor you: what are people spending their ISK on that’s so important that they have to spend money on PLEX for?

I mean, we’ve been told that Blackout “killed content” so presumably they’re not spending their RL money to buy PvP ships since that would be silly.

the problem is when people pay omega account and can not do what they like to do.

if game is fun only for hunter then dont be surprised if miner / farmer / buidler leave the game.

CCP is very lucky there are no other game similar at Eve atm or i bet majority of player already gone with this 2 month blackout

What makes you think that the hunter and the miner / farmer / builder are different people?

for what i see since i play eve, usually farmer / miner and builder etc is generally a pvp defender of his region. sometimes they can do a roaming for some fun also

the hunter is most a irl worker wan fun at end of his day and do some kill in game for one or 2 hour roaming somewhere.

blackout serve the hunter / roamer. because he can approch target without being detected.

the farmer / miner etc, see he lost more than what he earn then he stop, stay docked and blabla with corpmatete or do other thing out of game.

So you’re saying it was the hunter who was buying PLEX, in order to go shoot at the farmer/miner/builder who had unsubbed?

I’m sorry, but you’re not making much sense. I think you’re reasoning emotionally here, based on what you feel, but not based on what the facts say.

So over time Null Sec has become fat with ISK, resources, equipment and territory. Basically signed a Non-aggression pact with neighbors, created dedicated intel channels to quickly overpower any small groups looking to carve out a piece of Null Sec pie. As such there’s more production than destruction happening in Null Sec and CCP isn’t getting the big headlines / free press they’re use to getting from the big wars that brought players in to the game.

However those Alliance members want to pew pew, some leave the game cuz it’s become stagnate, others can’t get small gang fights due to Cap blobs and leave the game, still others start ganking or War-Deck High Sec Industrial Corps, some of those Indy Corps join Alliance in Null Sec while others leave the game. Over time the game continues losing more players than what it brings in.

So to make headlines again and bring players back into the game, CCP decides to shake things up, create destruction and implement the Chaos Era with Invasions, CCP has Triglavians attack High Sec with Drifter’s attacking Null Sec. More players leave the game. Null Sec Alliance leaders get mad due to being subjected to non-consensual PvE and declare they’re going to burn down High Sec Corps. (which would cause more players to leave the game)

CCP then annouces Null Sec Local Blackout and say it’s a ‘Test’ for an undetermined amount of time. Alliance leaders say ok, no more talk of burning down High Sec Corps. CCP states they want to monitor the effects of it on the cluster and watch the numbers for player Log-in count, areas of player activity and amount of asset destruction. Some players come back to the game but more leave. CCP then states Null Sec Local Blackout was good to remove Bots.

However during that time CCP also runs the ‘Season Of Skills’ / ‘Skilling Spree’ event which temporarily boosts some of those numbers. Course when that event ends the downward trend of player log-in numbers is still happening. So now in order to stop the loss of players CCP removes the Null Sec Local Blackout.
