Bring Back Singularity! :parrotdad: POLL

I did. Maybe you should read it again.

Thereā€™s a reason they voted noā€¦ no to what sisi wasā€¦ but a more targeted sisi, like the mass tests, maybe more of them on a regular basisā€¦ targeted to what ccp wants to test.

I think one of the things that led to getting rid of sisi, was the fact that too many people were using sisi to test out abyssals and other game play safely before doing it on the main server and therefore already having an advantage over those who chose not to test.

Youā€™re raging because people were NOT stupid?

If you didnā€™t practice these things on sisi, you have only yourself to blame that they are better than you, Karen.

Like the military going to a gun range?

The key phrase in that sentence is, ā€œchose not to.ā€

CCP needs the test server, WE donā€™t

To survive, humans need food, water, air, and shelter.

Just sayingā€¦

And the relevance of that is?

This has literally nothing to do with human survival

Hypernet can be disabled on an account level for such a thing

The problem is that by limiting SiSi to VIPā€™s itā€™s just going to be abused. People will chat up and elicit leaks from CSM members then theyā€™ll use their ISD toonies to be a beater and then document everything. Then theyā€™ll pass everything along to R and heā€™ll just make up an excuse like they saw info on Hobo Leaks and were working with Arataka Research Consortium when in fact they used insider info.

Crowdsourced testing is a thing.

The more people running it through the hoops the better.

Common sense used to be more commonā€¦

Right, except most people werenā€™t using SISI to actually find and report bugs, they were using it as a risk free playground to test things so they didnā€™t have to risk anything on TQ

So now CCP limits it to mass testing for things they actually want tested instead of it just being a risk free sandbox

Thatā€™s such a limited view. Nothing had value and it couldnā€™t be transferred to Tranquility.

Perhaps, but a lot of us were.

I wanted to test a jump freighter as I had never flown one before. I did many moons ago on the test server

This time I wanted to try anchoring something (to see mechanics etc) and the test server said ā€œpiss off ingrate you have no power hereā€

Iā€™m not about to practice this in a live server due to the cost. So thanks for taking that away from us. (Youā€™ll spend more in game then!) Get wrecked.

It would be nice to bring it back, give every non npc corp older then 6 months x hours a month to test in it. (Very easy to implement, enforce at corp level on CCP side).

Iā€™d be happy with even 1 hour a month to test stuff out.

Respectfully, soooooo the exact point of a test server then? Got it :grinning:

Didnā€™t vote because I figure they wonā€™t bring it back, but I think they took it offline as a money-saving and dev-time saving measure.
They might bring it back if the player count increases back to 2012 levels.

Incorrect, information has a great deal of value, being able to min-max ship fittings without risk is a huge value, being able to train fleets for zero cost is valuable

Its not only items that hold value in EVE, information is the single most valuable resource we have

No, a great number of you were not, there was a small minority of people who actually tested things for bugs

Nope, the point of the test server is to find and report bugs, not to go run abyssal content for free while you try to min-max ship fittings without risk, to map out missions or content or practice PvP fits etc

But that is what the majority of people were using it for

Guess how a lot of edge case bugs are found?

in this process, bugs are discovered. Just put a time limit on it (x hours a month per corp) to use test server.

Itā€™s a balance in the end right? Allow players to test but not test endlessly so they can find workarounds/game the system.

I donā€™t disagree that testing time cannot be endless but soooome testing time should be allowed IMO.

I anchored some structures on the test server when I first was able to have the skills to and thank god I was on the test server because reading all about the mechanics is helpful but not the same as actually doing it, and if you think Iā€™m going to chance it with almost 3-4 billion the very first time I do it then I have a bridge to sell you.

Sure, but how many edge cases are people going to find in PvE content and by testing new doctrine fits?

And what if you donā€™t find any bugs? that just means you got free knowledge without risk and didnā€™t aid CCP in the slightest

And why should it? why should people be allowed to test stuff for free without any cost?

If you can justify why you should be able to test things without risk and without cost then sure, but given that CCP cannot remove that knowledge from your head when you leave the server there really isnā€™t a way to do it that doesnā€™t massively end up benefiting people, thats why there are mass tests aimed to test specific things they need testing

Well that is now your option, risk vs reward, you want to experience something you better be willing to risk having it exploded, as is the way in EVE

Are you implying there are no bugs in PVE content?

I would suggest thatā€™s where most bugs are to be found.
