Can people deal with jokes more or less through generations?

I honestly am not sure, so I put the question to my fellow capsuleers, probably the finest bunch of forum dwellers that has ever existed. What do you think? Do you believe people are more easily offended than ever? And what was your line that was crossed (if any)? And what do you suspect is the cause? Interested to hear peoples opinions on this.

Disclaimer: This is not a post that has anything at all to do with ganking, please keep that ■■■■ out of here. TY (wish i didn’t have to say this but…)

People today are indeed easily offended milksops. I personally do not care, as I have no line I won’t cross.

Why is that though? Why do you have no line? What is the reason you see people as “milksops”?

Of course you can’t deal with jokes through generations. Old jokes that were once acceptable can get you fined today or even jailtime. In many countries.

People are less tolerant of divisive jokes, but more tolerant of other jokes broadly imo. More people over time see divisive jokes as racists/bigots trying to hide behind humor. But don’t go flying off the handle over “6-7 jokes” that older folks tend to.

So, what do you think is the cause of that? And how do you determine what is divisive?

Divisive describes something that causes disagreement, discord, or hostility, often splitting a group of people into opposing factions. IE racism, bigotry, and the like. Society has become less tolerant of it, and you are seeing people react to it.

Hello, @Orik_the_slow

I don’t think more people are easily offended, I think people nowadays use offense as ammo, as a backup for whatever justification that may come next, whether it was a joke or an outright insult.
When someone is “bothered” nobody cares but “OFFENDED!” OH Noes!! :scream: call the authorities…

Psychological and physical harm, and finding out how much I matter to most anyone.

I don’t think I am allowed to discuss that in here.

I get all that, my main concern is with the cause of this turn of events

What? Why not?

Because the perpetually offended live here among us, just waiting for a chance to activate their victim card.

I don’t think this forum is the place, unless you want to clarify and define your last question so I know exactly what you’re asking because as it stands now it is too vague.

I agree.

Bollocks! I had one of those!

I can’t pm you so will just say keep being you

Edit: Thanks for the posts gave me some food for thought.

I know it’s hard but, I believe in you.

Offense is taken, not given.

Problem is on the receiving end.

I somewhat agree, but would add some nuance that it also depends on the intention of the giver.

If someone intentionally makes a racist joke to offend another person the problem is not at the receiving end, in my opinion.
