Capsuleer DAY XXI the worst in hystory event!

Update: 25 days into the event. Still no S-107 nor S-133 drops in any tier 2 hacking and combat sites. Even the bloody halfway point filament box dropped a … “ruined” filament, lmao.
This makes it official, I guess. CCP hates me - and you too probably - and doesn’t want me (or you) anywhere near those tier 3 sites for which you have to craft a filament !

There’s exactly one (1) S-107 thingy up for sale in my home system (which does not have a particularly small or inactive market or an inactive player group), which is about enough to make 20% of a single filament.

I’m happy for ccp swift that he could finish the event in 7 days.

In the mean time, can I borrow someone’s magic button please ? LOL.

It would be nice to see the Fit, and the amount of implants you are using to do this, And if it was so straight forward, The calamitous filiments would not have dropped over 60% in the last 20 days. Its Fair Enough you dont want to give the fit away I agree with that, but you could give us the cost of implants and mods that you are using to survive this filiment.

Its a shame you have never played the game.

I am the game.

To be clear, the event tracker is a bit longer to compensate for the longer duration of the event.

Exactly. Add on top the tracker reward tasks that are less repeatable, so by deliberate design it is both a longer track and slower to do.

Edit: The team could have addressed past criticisms of the event the other direction for the “too short, missed it” crowd that has real lives: Keep track length and tasks comparable, simply extend event duration. I know you’ve all done this for past events, to make sure people don’t miss it and after the initial rush dies down people are still able to complete the track (see: Minmatar event track).

That fit looks horrible to me, haven’t done these sites but I’m sure it can be made better and cheaper.

It can be done quite a bit cheaper: Fit: Stabber, Solo T3 Disastrous Combat Site CDXXI by Andy Virus | EVE Workbench

Andy Virus has a great guide on running the Disasterous (t3) sites, I made a few upgrades to clear damage faster for the T4 sites.

That fit looks horrible to me, haven’t done these sites but

Like all things in EVE, there are many avenues to complete a task. The hardest part of the T4 sites tend to be the sentry turrets. This fit has the speed and buffer to endure killing all of them and the first wave of rogue drones, then you can get into orbit on the battleship and reload ASB in about the time it takes for the next wave of rogue drones to spawn.

I’ve seen some people use a Maller with beams to hit the sentry turrets early (they’re 70-80km away) and then refit with a mobile depot to AB+Pulses. Erst, a Twitch streamer, does this in a Thorax even! Strongly encourage you to check out his streams if you’re interested in running these sites. They can be quite profitable and really accelerate you on the reward track, as the “deal 50,000 damage” task is 45 points and can be done in ~6-8 minutes.

As said, not done these sites so may be totally off but generally for pve I’d rather focus on resists than just raw buffer especially if you also have a booster, and focus on augmenting the main and bonused weapons rather than adding on some unbonused ones.

Resist and ammo can be changed around ofc but it’s cheaper (by a lot, around 95 mil vs 235) and while it technically has less ehp you get more repping from the ancil and just overall better resists, and your AC will track better and have more range.

This event has a track for casual players, thats why the 75% loot drop is there. If you dont want the grind, just jump into the bling.

Well, in the end I got a booster that gave me 20% more social skill for 1 day…
Luckily the market said it was worth 1.8 billion, so I thought to myself: HELL YAH
Then I realized I was experiencing massive disconnects and brain issues because I was tired from running all the sites, and the booster was actually worth 1.8 million isk.

sigh

kinda disappointed with that tbh

I continued the grind to see how far I can get.

Attempting to follow the hacking path (since I lost two ships through the combat route), it would have been a bit “kinder” for CCP to have the desolate sites a bit more common. For the starting path, searching twelve, fifteen, eighteen systems not to find something that apparently was part of the lore…

…if the desolate sites were more common, then I might have had a chance to complete this silly event. But as someone mentioned above, at least I got to the Monitor skin.

Well. I’m quickly getting nowhere in this event…

Currently at 160 points and thanks to the Agency not automatically redeeming points, the various wrecks I hacked while in the Ruined Electrical Conduit didn’t count towards the next step since I forgot to claim the reward for entering the conduit and hacking a battle-scarred wreck.

Now the Agency task wants me to continue analyzing battle-scarred wrecks in Abyssal space…

A previous task was to manufacture an Abyssal filament which I did and then the next task was to sell an Abyssal filament… which I did…

So now I’m stuck with having to once again manufacture a Ruined Electrical or Sinister Exotic filament for one task (if I can find the BPC) and the other task is to continue analyzing battle-scarred wrecks within the conduit…

The third task is to enter a conduit combat site but I prefer to do the scanning / hacking side of the event.

Anyway, the majority of my progress so far in this event has been spending more ISK then I’m making, not to mention forcing me to do way more trade and manufacturing activities than what I want to do.

Gotta say I’m getting very annoyed with this event.

EDIT:

OK, found the BPC to manufacture a Devastated filament, went into the conduit, managed to hack 12 of the required 15 wrecks and found 3 more filament BPC’s - Devasted, Sinister and Vicious.

Manufactured the Sinister filament to complete the task which now wants me to manufacture an Annihilated or Disastrous filament… lol… no idea where those BPC’s are… plus the sites don’t drop enough of the required items to manufacture the filaments so you have to spend isk just to advance… definitely not an enjoyable experience…

Anyway, I’m now at 175 points… Yeah, quickly going nowhere. However I do have a Devastated filament to finish hacking the 15 battle-scarred wrecks, hopefully in the process I’ll find those other filament BPC’s and the items to make them.

More importantly, hopefully get an actual scanning task instead of the constant trade / manufacturing tasks… if not then I’m pretty much done with this event.

Facts?! It’s tedious or tedious and annoying but not worst.

As rewards it has ships, SKINs, boosters (attribute, social, skill), skill points. The point-quest progression can be done in 3-4 days during weekend, if you know what are you doing.

T1 and T2 exploration filaments are good to collect the starting resources for this event. You can buy them from the market. Just install a cargo scanner. T3 exploration filaments are the most profitable, while T1 and T2 combat filaments are the best to finish the quests fastly.

Fly to any trade hub where the manufacturing service is available. If you want to finish the point-quests then focus on the manufacturing and combat quests. The exploration quests are very annoying and time consuming. All the missing/required filaments BPCs buy from contracts while the manufacturing resources from buy/sell orders. You have to spend some ISKies, as investments, to boost the progression. Very soon you’ll craft filaments non-stop and do T2 combat filaments only. T3 combat filament is more profitable, but way more harder and time consuming without any advantage in further progression.

Yeah, see that’s the main issue I have with this event, constantly having to spend ISK just to progress in this event. Plus the fact that every step of progress is totally scripted by CCP.

Anyway, thanks for the tip, I certainly didn’t think about checking Public Contracts for Event filament BPC’s…

Yea having to click accept after completing a task makes no sense it should just auto complete.

I’m surprised people are still doing the event, have the rewards at least gotten better with all CCP’s tweaks and other people having stopped running the sites?

I haven’t done enough of the event to say whether the loot drops are better or worse.

However I did get 3 filament BPC’s from that conduit pocket so I guess it’s better…

Not seeing much difference atm, except a lot more bpc drops. But I think I’m done with this event. I made it to the Monitor skin, but still haven’t found any S-107/S-133 to progress to tier 3 !.. They seem to have abysmal drop rates from sites generated in nullsec - that too wouldn’t be a first for ccp.

If frustration were a positive design aspect, this event would win prizes.
