CCP Rattati on a stream talking about economy

I looked for that but only found them talking about the expert deal. Did I not watch long enough? What I did catch was enough to piss me off though!

They are going to stop spawning asteroids in highsec as further redistribution efforts.

Didn’t hear that, or didn’t interpret it that way. What I did hear though is that ā€œwaiting for skills to be trained/ships to be accessableā€ is too hard for the kids - who change games fast. smh

Maybe CCP should decide who their market is and develop for them, instead of kids who will only be here for 3 months to a year.

Tough call, there’s the vets who pump money into subs and literally keep the game alive. Then there’s the ā€œ1.3 million distinct human beingsā€ who hop in and out, surely there’s money to be made there and the occasional new sub. I would think EvE Echoes would be better suited for this mindset ? On a bad day it feels like vets are merely tolerated, remnants of an ancient civilization :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t fly faction fit T2 cruisers? I mean it’s not hard to ā€œfunctionā€ on 300 million ISK. You fly a lot of T1 frigates and cruisers. Not a big deal. If you want to fly bigger, fancier stuff, put some effort into earning ISK.

All you care about is how many hits your video gets so you can get paid. Rattati and his manifesto has a lot of cash paying customers pissed off and all you care about is how many hits a video can get. I just added you to the never watch again list

The streamer, Oz, is a grown man with a family and a career. I wouldn’t usually speak for somebody else like this but I can say with absolute 100% certainty that he isn’t streaming Eve content aiming to get paid (lol). He’s focused on an extremely niche playstyle in an extremely niche game - streaming trading tips to an audience of hundreds to build a multi-pound twitch media empire?! Honestly, if you had ever listened to him speak for a while you couldn’t possibly believe that was his plan. He’s a very rational person and talks often about opportunity costs and return on time invested regarding in-game trading. It’s actually a hilarious suggestion - utterly ridiculous.

I know I’m wasting my breath appealing to reason with scarcity haters but it would be nice if, whatever your views on the changes, you could at least refrain from shitting on content creators and CCP devs who are taking their time to interact with the community - especially streamers who are putting time and effort into creating content for us all to enjoy. You should try watching his stream or his youtube channel and try some trading yourself. If you did then you’d realise that it’s actually still insanely easy to make lots of money in this game.

I’m really glad CCP are able to look past the loud, crying minority of forum/reddit whiners and still engage with the community despite the abuse they get. The complainers and crybabies always seem to be prominent because they shout so loudly. I hope they keep looking past the endless litany of complaints to see the quiet majority who appreciate them for taking unpopular, necessary short term decisions for the long-term health of the game and the economy.

Thanks Oz, thanks Rattati and thanks CCP.

The problem with not responding to complaints, legitimate or not, is that they will become louder over time, sour the relation and undermine confidence.

True. At least ccp rattati took the risk. Since we lost people like ccp Guard and his o7 Show with ccp Mimic, information and interaction have been on a low.

They do respond to the complaints though - like Rattati did. People just don’t like the answers. They laid out their reasons, intentions and hopes re: scarcity right at the beginning start and they’ve been clear all the way through.

The complaints are endless anyway - they can’t do right for doing wrong. I wouldn’t blame them at all if they shut up shop and only communicated through devblogs in a corporate manner but, somehow, they still keep on all these years later. My experience in-game with the Eve community has been absolutely fantastic. I think it’s full of amazing people, I’ve seen lots of great acts of charity and sacrifice and friendship, we have a fantastic group of people. But if your only experience was reading reddit or reading these forums…my god - you wouldn’t believe it!.

Yeah, I’d love to see more. I’ve heard CCP Rise and Aurora on a smallgang podcast but they mainly seem to go for these more niche audiences. I don’t blame them either. Oz’s twitch chat is almost always a really pleasant experience every time I watch. But as soon as Rattati was on and he got a more ā€œmainstreamā€ audience it degenerated into an absolute cesspit. First time I’ve ever had to close the chat (just for the sake of my blood pressure!)… Any kind of publicising brings out the absolute worst offenders. Good faith discussions and rational thinking is replaced by pure abuse and tears.

Blackout of the highest order! Ccp blacks out the game for a mo! Pause everything for 1 mo. We’ll see who’s boss here!

Their banker will have an opinion on that

Naw, seems ccp can do no wrong despite the numbers! :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The smallest I fly that is decent at making ISK is Astero. But I feel like underperforming flying it, while I have skills for Cruiser. So that is why I fly Stratios. Stratios fit is around 250M, 300M ISK. At least double of that amount is needed to be in my wallet because I can lose that Stratios, It happened already many times, in gatecamps and because of mistakes in sites, and I need to have a replacement for it. ā€œDon’t fly what you are not able to replaceā€. Then all the ISK I make is put into more, bigger ships, like Leshak, Vindicator or Nestor I need for high end fleet content that makes good ISK. Those are more than 1B with Nestor particularly. For the SP I have to use injector sometimes. The wait times are very long for lvl 5 skills, and sometimes I need them faster than in 2 weeks.

What do you mean by effort? More time spent mining or doing missions? These are too boring for me. I have other, more efficient and fun means of making ISK, but also more risky.
Actions I am able to do are defined more by ship, fit doesnt have to be fancy, just right for the tactic. You are not able to earn enough ISK in ship that is not able to perform some actions even with proper fit.

All the things you’re mentioning are choices, not requirements to play. If you enjoy those choices then you’re doing it right but when people go ā€œI can’t pay for my pvp shipsā€ then they need to make different choices either by making more isk or flying less expensive ships.

OP, you can leave a summary without injecting your personal opinion. this almost reads like fake news.

What I’m reading is: you need a bigger wallet in order to fly more expensive, high level ships in order to engage in more lucrative PvE activities and grow your wallet. Do I have that about right?

Ahmmmm don’t put words in my mouth. There are many ways to make ISK in EVE beyond the mining and mission paradigm. There’s exploration, as you mentioned, there’s also arbitrage, speculation, ratting, production, BPO research, and theft. And despite a bearish market, there’s PI (holy ā– ā– ā– ā–  when I discovered PI I abandoned all other ISK making activities for years, making billions/month for a couple of hours of chores/week).

Making ISK in EVE has been easier the past couple of years that it ever was. Not sure how everyone is doing with Scarcity but I’m gonna make a killing. At the same time, if I don’t make a killing it doesn’t especially hurt me; I’m not the big fancy toys kind of girl.

The thing you need to realize is that while yes, EVE is a game, you wanna play and have fun and fly what you desire to fly - you’re not entitled to doing so. It’s required that you do something in order to get those ships, or someone else does something for you to have them.

The lucrative part about the fleet PvE can vary, but generally yes. It is better than missioning solo in terms of fun and ISK.

The exploration is too unpredictable and riskier, but can bring very good ISK in just few hours. Or few millions in few days…

I am alternating my activities, sometimes even doing a mission or two, because faction ammo that i can redeem in Jita. I abandoned mining completely…

Anyway, after few years of playing, I have tried everything a bit, and the best I had was like 7B (excluding PLEX). I also bought Marshal for that money and it was a good investment. I have also few very rare ships. The ones nobody sells anymore. I am also investing in rare SKINs.

That I know, that is why I dont know what was the effort part you ment. I like to play with efficiency in mind, but not doing excell tables because I am not that kind of person who after work will sit and do even more work in some game.

This is actually nothing to shake a stick at.

Like actually doing things in order to make ISK instead of asking CCP to buff income. Exploration is effort. Mining is effort. Spreadsheets are effort. Like if I wanted to fly a Titan I’d have to put in the time and effort - right, that’s a huge time and ISK investment, so I need the ISK, and I need the patience to train the skills, and there are other considerations to make when investing in that type of asset.

Or you know I can just have a sense of entitlement and think CCP should buff your income.

You mean like pets & their ā€œcontent creatorā€ & ā€œaffilationā€ plex? Or were you talking about t2bpo’s or maybe private discords or maybe you are talking about the non transparent reinbursement policy where gm’s admit to gifting free stuff because they like players?

Plenty of people get a free ride in eve, one good look into the sandbox & you will see the pit bottom, it is a shallow box nowadays.
