CCP rise - we could balance abyssal mods by adjusting stats on base modules

Generally when you have to defend stupid ideas you use stupid arguments.

which is opposite to what they told us on fanfest, that good rolls would be rare. This will make huge group of modules redundant.

This is the same dev that doesn’t like ECM because a chance-based success makes it “un fun”

I know right ? I almost feel like we should be sending him covert messages saying “blink 3 times if you are being held against your will”

Ahh hell naw. They need to keep their grubby hands off of base meta modules like the enduring prop mods. Those are where they are for a reason. Nerfing the crap out of them because they are a great starting point for mutations is treating the symptoms without treating the cause of the problem. You nerf the ■■■■ out of the mutaplasmids before they reach live. Not screwball regular equipment.

Yeah I’m sure it wasn’t Rise that woke up one morning and thought “after years careful balancing I really feel like running a bull through this fuckin china shop and trashing my meticulous work”

On the disregarding RNG loot stats as “not gambling” because mutaplasmids are not available in the NEX store and someone actually has actually “worked” to obtain them and put them on the market. This is just dishonest hair splitting.

I say this as someone who has worked in the gaming industry for many years and is very well versed in problem gambling and addictive behaviour.

THE IMPORTANT PART IS THE BEHAVIOUR PRODUCED NOT THE MINUTIAE OF THE GAME ITSELF.

If the game produces behaviour where a punter will be encouraged to spend more money (isk / plex) chasing losses (bad rolls) then it is entirely comparable to a casino game. RNG loot stats fill these criteria very well, this makes me uncomfortable.

I work in a casino where people know on the way in what we do, where we only allow adults, where we suspend members who exhibit signs of problem gambling and as an aside, in my casino money is literally no object for our customers. Even given all these caveats I still occasionally feel uncomfortable when someone is chasing a bad loss and is upset about it.

EvE will have none of these protections in place but players (anyone over 12 years old) will be free to play RNG slot machines in Jita all day with no checks and balances. This makes me very uncomfortable.

I think if they want RNG, lets just make cassinos where you can play with ISK, not try to disguise it with these game balance ruining stuffs. And make game for adults only.

But casinos would be voluntary, this feature will be mandatory to use, if we talk about “affordable” modules.

…and to me that is deeply concerning as I see that behaviour of chasing losses being produced by “bad rolls”.

Edit : I see the thread has been stealth closed by removing from general discussion. GG CCP

Without a doubt this has to be one of dumbest suggestions ever proposed by CCP.

How do we know these filaments won’t be available in the NES store? Just because you can find the base F1 variants in data sites and NPCs doesn’t mean CCP won’t sell the high-tier F5 variants for PLEX.

this is incredibly miss quoted…

what he is talking about is IF they did that it would auto apply to all modules retroactively. he was describing a “failsafe” not explaining a battle plan

this is something i have noticed in most of these threads. people hear something and freak the ■■■■ out before any further analyzing.

They very likely will. If not initially, then in a year or two. There won’t be a fuzz about it either, because almost all of those that cared already quit and the ones left are used to and perfectly content with stuff like that.

I mean i can still remember when they started selling officer mods on NES i think there was maybe one post about it that died in less than a day
