I still think the old names were a lot more flavourful and shouldn’t have been removed.
The new mining UI already shows values of all nearby asteroids so it’s easy to see which asteroids are most valuable even without standardization of the asteroid names.

Since I am here. I still see this as the “tip of the iceberg”, I am not saying the end is near, I am saying you won’t recognize the game you were playing before such changes. I see they now plan to add a newbie region to this game. Not just a few systems, but 53 comprising an entire new region. I would send the new players directly to Pochven they would learn faster in there.
Seriously tho, all games will change, but seldom do their changes make them better.

You’re confusing activity with agreement. Just because daily numbers are approaching pre-scarcity levels doesn’t mean everyone suddenly loves the changes, it means people are still logging in. Those are not the same thing.
And claiming someone is in the minority doesn’t magically invalidate their criticism. It appears, I am in with the majority opinion of this thread. Public forums exist specifically so people can respond to popular threads and discuss them. Calling that nefarious or attention seeking isn’t an argument, it’s just a way to dismiss a viewpoint without actually addressing it.
If anything, trying to police who is allowed to reply in a top thread is the most absurd take. You have done this more than once, with focus on my valid comments alone. People can disagree with the changes and still participate in the community. That’s kind of the whole point of a forum.

I definitely didn’t know most of them, only a couple of the part of space I live in.
Experienced miners might have known a bunch by heart of the area they mine in, giving them a feeling of mastery, but still also a sense of wonder about the names when they get to other parts of space.
‘Wonder’, ‘unknown’ things, ‘mastery’… it should be part of a space game about amongst other things space exploration and resource gathering.
All that sense of wonder and not seeing immediately which rock is the most valuable if you aren’t familiar in that part of space has been removed.
And for what?
Miners can turn on their mining sensor and see exactly which rocks are most valuable so the new names (which removed the sense of wonder and feeling of mastery) were not even needed at all!
I just can’t seem to care. It doesn’t bother me what CCP calls something anymore than bothers me what someone else calls the American continents. I call them North America and South America. Other countries are taught to call them both America lumping them into one continent. We are allowed to make our own names.
I just don’t feel deminished that the rocks I shoot have different text underneath them. With my Orca empowered Hulk, that rock and its text will soon cease to exist anyway along with every other rock within range.
I read though this thread and tried to care, but it just doesn’t even come close to things like my job, my career, family, my pets, friends… taxes (ugghh. Taxes again). Etc…
anyone can be in the majority in an echo chamber. step outside of the echo chamber, and few people will care, and then some will like the changes, like me. for this topic specifically.

It is not even on you to define where the echo chamber starts and ends. Or if there is an echo chamber at all. This is a public forum as far as i know.
This is a public forum and not a closed section of like minded people. Everyone can come in and voice their opinion and discuss it. I can have my own opinion, i don’t have to like yours and you don’t have to like mine. For this particular thing i also don’t even need to be based on facts or anything, i can just voice that i like it this way and not the other way around.
You are in fact accusing me of not having your opinion and that in this thread you perceive a majority against you. Well i have not set up the composition of people in this thread. Everyone is free to join and post or not to post.
If you read above there are even people taking part in the discussion who don’t care about the change and how the naming is. But as you wrote, you refuse to read the thread. Also an option you have, but if you admittedly didn’t even read it, i wonder how you could call it an echo chamber?

They weren’t hard to remember. You remembered the base name and two higher variations. That was it. One did not need a cheat sheet for that. I remember all the (old) high sec ore and nullsec ore names.
