and then you did.
But guess what, my revival turns out to be good. Yes, I became aggressive when I shouldnt have. However, there seems to be renewed interest in the topic, eh?
With that being said, despite the apparent argument about whether raw ore in real life is graded in a similar way (it is, i’ve shown proof multiple times.) I am now interested in Why it bothers some of these folks?
Purely from a roleplaying perspective, miners tend to be in the economy as well as their mining. Having an easier way to discern which is better, should help the budding billionaire. Miners also tend to be in industry, which would mean the characters, anyway, are very much into the science part of the game.
Having a standard grade system for the density of minerals in the various rocks, that the characters cant even see and only has information coming from scans, should be a better method, no? Standardizing any industry related objects would only benefit people, no?
Unless these people are the ones building ships that blow up on undock, and are mad that they can’t pass off sub-standard products for the same price as standard products? The jist being, this is a video game universe, not real life. Our characters exist in a place where science is far more advanced, and doesn’t need archaic layman names for rocks in space.
From a real life perspective, the standardized names make the bar for incoming players a little easier. How is that a bad thing? I’ve seen terms like" “dumbing it down”, but that is really just saying they don’t like or want new players to come in and not struggle as hard as many of us did 5,10,20 years ago or a little longer.
I saw that immediately. That causes me anger, because I love this game and I want to see it continue for another 20 years. Assuming I live that long. How could anyone that has been playing for any length of time not love this game and want it to continue?
This mentality has existed for a long time, all across the gaming consumer base. I (the angry about new players existing person) struggled when this game first came out, why shouldnt players coming in after (x number) years later also struggle like it’s still the early 2000’s game!?!
If the new players are expected to struggle the same ways we all did, then they should also have new lowsec and null space that older players can’t claim. They should also have the same economy from back then. But that wont be argued for by any of these folks.
I know there will be argument about this, so please explain to me how making the bar of entry lower, for slightly easier access to more players a bad thing? No company exists that does not want or need continued income. Video games are not free. Development, servers, insurances etc, all cost money. Electricity isnt free.
The subscription cost was raised due to loss of income. As people age and find other things to do, money stops flowing. The more people drop off, the less money being spent. Again, video games arent free. Whether anyone likes it or not, this game needs new players. I need new players, since I play and would like to keep playing. I dont know if you actually play, or you’re just another forum rat that hasnt played in a decade. Let’s assume you do play. You need new players, if you also want this game to continue existing.
Small changes like this, should not cause an issue.
I should also point out, that many of the players that came in early, are now also decades older, which means they have less time and money for this game, assuming they went out and made a career for themselves, or got married and are raising children.
