Getting rid of asset safety wouldn’t help the economy. It would result in a much lower rate of citadel usage overall, compounded by an even greater tendency for player groups to ball up as massively as possible. We’d have one giant null-sec alliance, and few if any citadels in high-sec and low-sec. Barely any would get destroyed because there would be so few to begin with, and the ones that would exist would be defended by 10,000-player fleets.
The entire Upwell system is exceptionally flawed. It’s the worst implementation of “land” (space) ownership EVE ever had, and possibly the worst in the history of gaming in general.

You seem very reasonable.
Just last week I was doing a mission behind the gate in Botane in my Megathron and a Nergal comes in orange flown by Tastelis Karfoong and starts to kill my MTU which was full of mission loot and costed 11m isk. so not really knowing any better because my character is only four months old as long as I’ve been playing the game and I sent my drones in after it assuming that it should be a suspect at this point and that I should be able to blast it out of the water not realizing I was too close and that the ship was too fast next thing I know I am neutered and scrammed helpless on a pve build with them telling me if I give them 200 million isk they will release my ship which I did not have nor did I really believe them so they continue to blow my ship up and my clone I took multiple screenshots and sent them to CCP and they pretty much tell me that it was fair game and the character did not do anything wrong… So needless to say I will not be spending any more money on the game in a while and that I nearly bout quit I was so enraged. Let’s just say I learned a lesson the hard way that day. Yes you can say that I should of known better or I did this and that wrong But in the end I don’t feel that another player that is orange or red should be allowed behind someone else’s mission gate and that is a failure on CCPs part for not protecting players better in high sec.

Gates dont stop players unless they are locked gates or ship restricted. Players can use probes to find you. It was fair play what happened to you. Sure it sucks, but dust yourself off and get back out there

If I may suggest that I would newer submit if I were tackled in fact it is the worst things you could do in space!
Never give in to their demands for isk ransom. The smart thing to do is just type GR in local and watch while learning how you might be able to avoid such situation in the future.
Now this does not mean to quit.
Think of the next big thing you want to accomplish in Eve Online and write notes for your future adventure.

I can’t; griefers have already extorted, stolen, and destroyed most of my money and assets. I barely have anything left, and am effectively forced to fight off my attackers in a Venture-class mining frigate. However, I’ve heard that @Mr_Epeen has considerable wealth holdings, and is very charitable toward the downtrodden victims of illegal PvP abuse. Perhaps he would be willing to fund this initiative?
