If you already have an Endurance, you don’t.
But if you don’t already have Mining Frigate 5, Industry 5, and Electronics Upgrades 5, a Perseverance makes a good ice mining option.
Endurance has a role bonus to make its one ice miner do the work of three, so the Endurance and Perseverance mine at the same speed.
The Endurance, however, requires 3 skills at Level 5 to fly, the Perseverance doesn’t require any Level 5 skills.

Event is a complete waste of time,
besides the Special Edition goodies being reintroduced I see no reason to grind this out.
Its just one big bottleneck,with crates and data site loot being so bad that its almost insulting.
I can make better ISK just sitting in dock doing project discovery and why would I want to waste my time on a big ‘maybe’.I also want to say that it is not new player friendly.Alphas cannot use Ice lasers and the data sites are level 4’s which take some higher skills and a strong ship/fit to even scan down,so I guess they will just get to throw snowballs at each other.
really a big disappointment after doing a fantastic expansion.

Events are not alpha friendly since 2018…
Alphas can hunt down LADs with very little SP investment. You need to kill the first 13 in a certain order, then you have a repeatable task to kill any 5 for 20 points. And it teaches dscanning too!

If you shoot 10 you’ll probably end up with 1-2 thingies to get the better loot boxes (which don’t seem to be better btw.). I like the general idea though .. kill those dudes, do some combat sites, hacking or mining and trade in the better loot boxes. It’s just that you have to spend a ridiculous amount of time to hunt for the “upgraded” loot boxes. Overall it’s not good enough to keep me hooked.
Also, the event is not very beginner friendly. Crimson Harvest was much better, not only because of the rewards (which were decent) but the C1 sites were also very doable for beginners.
I just stopped after finishing with the event track and I’m good with it. If CCP fixes the loot and the mechanics (mainly drop rates), I might switch back - if not, not. No hard feelings. There is enough to do. I just could have been a fun and rewarding activity, which it isn’t right now.
Also I don’t understand why there is one for sausages and one for meat. Seems redundant.

Winter nexus this year is burning pile of trash.
I’m doing scanning sites in Low-Sec, they respawn for like ~30 mins, highly contested and give around ~5 mil of loot (once an hour you can get a shiny can of astonishing 20 mil of loot). With those awesome gains you are also risking losing your ship in every way possible.
With that rate running data-sites in High-sec is x10 more profitable.
Winter nexus is a scam designed to waste your time.

Forget that destroyer ice ship, just wait for the BPO to drop, the endurance is just better anyway because all you will be for months is a gank prize flying it.

Any predictions on the final reward when the event track expands? The perseverance BPO?
Why? How does that make any sense?
The Crimson Harvest was all around Blood Raiders, so we got a Cruor BPC.
Winter Nexus is about Sansha, so probably Succubus BPC.

I didn’t like decision to restrict Marauders. I had to go out and buy a Praxis. That said I’ve already earned nearly enough ISK to buy a Rattlesnake hull and it won’t take much longer after that to fit it to my requirements and I think I’ve had more fun so far than previous years due to having to adapt a Praxis again.

Restricting marauders was the only GOOD part of this event. Sadly, they didn’t bother changing anything else, so now you’d NEED a marauder to make this event even mediocre isk/h.
I was looking forward to running the sites in a different ship than the same old marauder I’ve used for the last 3-4 years - while still making some isk. Well, I got one of those wishes, as I just blitzed the event track in a Loki and was completely done with it. In some sense I’d like to do it again with 2 more characters because I like the idea of having a couple Perseverances in my back pocket… but it’s just not worth it, and I probably can’t bother. At this point I’m not sure I’d bother even if CCP increased the payouts.
This event has felt so meh that I don’t even feel like logging in to do ACTUALLY profitable and fun things like playing the market, doing my daily crabbing or participating in pvp. This whole lack of effort on CCP’s part and the toxic bittervets defending this event in this thread have left such a sour taste in my mouth.
I guess this is a good excuse to go “touch grass” and get back to my gym routine.

I’m from a Jorvik state in England where the phrase “being on tenter-hooks” came from. The shire where punishment for thieving textiles was as harsh as it gets.
I’m not participating in this event many-many others for lore reasons too tedious to describe here but I am appreciative of the efforts CCP have made to keep us entertained (and paying up) in these increasingly fraught times.
So the event could suck worse and I’d still be defending the production team.
The mining sites are even worse.

I would say, especially compared to the last Crimson Harvest event, this years Winter Nexus is meh.
After tracking down many, many LAD’s and scoring the keys for marauder access I took my Kronos to the combat sites and eventually completed the reward track as it stands and the loot from the sites was quite pathetic. Barely 100 million isk. At the end of the reward track for the last Crimson Harvest I scored 10 billion isk worth of loot between two accounts.
Very lackluster and I am surprised at the lack of response from CCP given how fast they tuned the Crimson Harvest event due to all the criticism at the start of that one. I personally had no problem with last year’s Winter Nexus but then again CCP wasn’t trying to sell new ships, I mean, sell PLEX so players can skill into the new ships. This Winter Nexus feels like they are farming players for $$$ a lot more than usual.
They’re trying to drive you to lowsec where the rewards are much better. I finished the reward track by hunting LADs and hacking sites - it took around 5-6 hours over 3 sessions and total loot was over 1 bil so ~200m/hour which is on par with the other events.
I’m saddened that the benchmark for a good event is ISK/hour for so many people though.
