Thank you
I was hoping as much
Well, I have received likes and replies from CCP on random comments, but am usually ignored if I at someone. Are they reading these comments and choosing not to reply? Maybe. But I’m not always so sure. What I can say with certainty, however, is that it is a little bit frustrating that CCP is more active on Reddit than the forums. Like, I would understand if they were too busy to go through the mountain of post we generate on a daily basis, but they don’t seem to be ignoring everyone -just the forum crowd.
Now, I have no doubt that reddit has the most users, has the most big name players, and the best memes. But they also have a crap ton of bitter vets and a serious case of group think going on. Reddit’s voting system is meant to help worthy comments rise to the top, but it’s also used by the downvote brigade to effectively silence dissenting opinions. I know the forums aren’t perfect, but at least here, you actually have to make a compelling argument if you want to convince others of your position.
I don’t know why we seem to be shunned so much. Maybe it’s because when the average player gets angry, the first place they think to to go is to the forums. Indeed, official dev threads tend get a crap ton of people who don’t regularly post, and the bulk of their comments tend to be negative. So, maybe CCP kept seeing all the negative comments on their official threads, and got tired of the negativity of the forums. But here’s the deal -most threads aren’t nearly as negative as the dev threads, and there are still some good people giving constructive feedback on this platform. I do wish there were more people regularly using the forums, but I’m willing to bet we’d see an increase if the devs were more active here than they were on reddit.
meh.
Thank you for the feedback. I will pass it along to Community Team.
*Cough
You’re not enough for certain ppl, guess you don’t count 'cause you’re not a real Dev and CSM either.
They want Hilmar in here so they can really let him know what they think, lol.
As if Devs responding to threads is going to change their disposition. Then they’d be telling them to go code and make improvements instead of “wasting time answering worthless threads” because if it’s not a thread they start it’s worthless.
I’d close these forum If I were at CPP, in a heartbeat.
Well if a dev that has shaken hands with Basshunter and Daft Punk AND been threatened by Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull isn’t enough I guess I’ll just go back to catching up on what I missed on meme monday on Reddit brb.
I for one am fine with CSM responding in here. You…You’re the cherry on top. Thanks for your time
Now that, is a rock and roll lifestyle.
You have now ascended into awesomeness @CCP_Fleebix (assuming that you weren’t there already because the Daft Punk story is pretty damn cool too!).
Were you poaching his salmon?
So full disclosure; I was working for a TV show called Kastljós in Iceland and Daft Punk came for an interview for their premiere of Electroma, the arthouse film that they had just done and was being shown at Reykjavik Film Festival. I was assistant producer, was basically just the dude who welcomed them in and got them coffee, but I shook hands with them and got all kindsa startruck.
Trivia - Electroma is actually the film that their Epilogue clip was sampled from.
Ian Anderson was in Iceland for a concert with his touring band recording a DVD of Thick as a Brick. I had to tell him we were delayed for about 30 minutes and dude was not happy.
Both was in 2006.
What were they like in person? That sounds like a pretty awesome time.
Nice
Youd think after all that Living In The Past an extra 30mins there wouldnt be a biggie.
He mustve been eager to get Skating Away.
What an Aqualung.
Isn’t it ? I think that’s pretty damn cool.
But getting threatened by Ian Anderson must be tops
I got warned by this dude when my friends and I were making fun of his makeup on a movie set. We pissed him off
Of course, he was much older by then.
What I think is interesting is they don’t even list Reddit as a way to follow Eve Online on their own website:
And it’s easily the most viewed, and replied to of all their social medias. It’s still player-run right? Eve Online is definitely a benefactor of those times where a headline or thread out of context has landed us in r/all and all over the place in the media too. Curious as to why they omit it from their sight unless it is some sort of oversight on their part.
I agree with you OP but the truth is nobody gives a ■■■■ about the forums like they do social media.
r/eve is not controlled or moderated by CCP. So it’s not official
There is only one EVE Reddit and it posts memes about how CCP milks players.
On the same token though, CCP can’t really moderate or control something like Twitter. Sure it’s their official Twitter account but they can’t stop the replies. It’s a good point though and kind of cool the players own it instead.
You really don’t see difference between twitter account and owning a subreddit?
I’ve played on so many MMOs, I can’t remember them all. CCP is actually more likely to respond than almost all of them. And while the CSM doesn’t represent CCP (they represent the players to CCP), they still can provide generally good responses since they do talk directly with CCP.
If you think CCP is bad, you should have played SWG during the CURB/NGE era. Oh my God, completely changed the game and refused to respond to questions… even banning people from the forums for openly questioning specific decisions…
