Local either won’t have all the people actually in system, or it doesn’t update between jumps showing the same pilots for a few systems in a row
Over the years I’ve dwelt with quite a few problems in Eve. Some were caused by my lack of knowledge, some were due to bugs in the game and a few were from poor game design. However the result was I simply dwelt with them and things went on as normal since I have no control over what CCP decides to do (or not do).
But I think the time has come to cut bait, or fish. My subscription comes due in five days time and the chat being broken (yet again) may be a straw that breaks the camel’s back. Given all of the games on the Internet I do not believe I need to continue being unhappy about the game I choose to play. While I have not yet made up my mind I suspect the die has been cast and has come up snake eyes.
To me it is just a game that I use to pass the time. But for CCP employees it is a job and income. I can only hope for their sake that enough people are willing to continue with Eve into the future. While I disagree with many of the changes and the ongoing problems that never seem to be fixable, it was a good game that I did enjoy for a number of years. I really would dislike seeing it fade away as so many other games have done over the years.
And no, you can’t have my stuff… If I do make the leap and leave, I’ll give my things to my corp and quietly walk away.
Regardless of my personal choice, good luck one and all.
I started this thread 11 hrs ago, shortly after that I got random dc’ed and did not bother logging back in. I come back on and LOCAL is stll BROKEN
Local and corp still down entirely…nothing loading.
Would be nice to have an update at some point…
I am going to gank miners in protest of broken local.
CCP, fix the game or the miners die!
Put…the bunny…back…in the box.
And leave fluffy alone while you’re at it, too.
Though really, the system-managed channels being hosed again is getting rather old. FWIW I can confirm the same experience as these posts, though somewhat inconsistent in ways that are difficult to explain in detail properly:
(repost to fix the reply attachment appearing broken)
And because you want to walk away quietly you felt the urge to post it here in the forums…
oh, and:
Farewell where ever you may fare …AND
Can I have your stuff?
You can scroll along his message and see the rest. I’m afraid it makes even less sense if you read the whole thing though.
This. It’s why I unsubbed and now just occasionally pop on as an alpha, mostly because of nostalgia. Eve was the only game I ever subbed to but I felt it was better to take that money I was already spending and give it to another game that works and has a responsive dev team. I mean, we’ve still got the red dot ffs. An almost universally hated feature that appears to be here to stay. Why??? Listen to your customers or lose them. Simple really.
People ask “can i have your stuff?” because they assume others are just having a tantrum and won’t actually leave. But there are those of us who do pull the plug on giving ccp any more money and that can only be bad for the game, right?
Oh be nice, the ERP customers can’t… “function” without chat
I hate in-game chat. I only open local to see if there’s a ‘criminal’ in system…
But quitting a game over Chat not working ?? Wow, I guess I’m getting old.
I said I unsubbed. Not that I stopped playing. You may want to read and understand what people are saying in future.
People who love Eve unsubbing and playing for free instead isn’t good for the future of the game. A very simple concept you appear to have missed. You are not “rid” of anything and your comment makes no sense to anyone who, unlike you, has bothered to pay attention.
Edit: and just for clarification, I never said I unsubbed because of chat not working. That would be a complete over-reaction to a very minor issue. I was replying to someone who, if memory serves, was complaining about bugs that were never addressed while new content was being pumped out. See? It does make sense if people bother to read what’s written in full instead of getting all excited at the thought of getting a chance to criticise strangers online…
I never said chat was the reason I unsubbed though. You may be getting old, I wouldn’t know, but those critical reading skills you were taught in school could be brushed up a little.
