I do a lot of hacking in the game, in fact its my only avenue of gameplay right now and i love it always have done.
What i do not like is when i arrive in a detected system where there can be 30 signatures to scan down is then finding each and every site has been cherry picked an hour or two before hand.
This ends up being a complete waste of time, and time is precious.
How would people feel if say for example a system was introduced where after a can has been hacked in a site a timer is started so the site can de spawn, thus giving a chance for people who come through later to have a fresh set of signatures to scan?
Not one I like, but it’s a good way to slow down other competing explorers.
Despawning sigs too soon isn’t fun either, sometimes I finish one can, have to tend to the baby and continue a few minutes later. I wouldn’t want sites to despawn while I’m still running them just because I cloaked up on the side for a few minutes.
If you dislike cherry picking as much as I do, let this fuel your hatred for explorers with cargo scanners and learn the ways of explorer hunting.
It’s a fun side activity for any explorer to learn how to hunt other explorers, and valuable experience too to improve as explorer.
You have not described where you do it, but based on it, it could be possible that if you look a bit around, that there is some not so populated space available where you don’t have these problems?
Well another complete and utter waste of a few hours after the cherry picking wankers have been out again, really need to fix this ■■■■ honestly its just toxic as ■■■■
I think the Hacking sites should be reverted back to the old game mechanics of not being able to scan the contents of the cans… That would remove the ability to ‘Cherry Pick’ and actually make exploring worthwhile…
It takes so little time to just hack the cans in the first place, its just so annoying to go through systems like this all the time just because someone logged on a few hours before you. It really needs looking at.
You mean the times when you just sat around for minutes watching your hacker cycle? Or the time with the scatter containers where you had to frantically grab the best containers?
Both were so beloved by the community.
Cutie, I play a PVP game. Cherry-Picking is PVP. If you don’t like PVP, go ahead and prevent me from hacking the sites in your area. All you need to do is a bit of camping.
Oh wait, you can only look tough on your avatar and only farm your own alts in space. Well, tough luck then.
Someone tried to “cherrypick” me today. It did not go well for them… (thanks for the 50m in loot, 300m in kill rights and corpses to add to my collection!)
If you did you would know that adding NPCs to hacking sites would invalidate all of the non-combat frigate explorers.
There already are sites which combine hacking with NPCs and need to be done in combat-capable explorers like T3Cs, but there is no need to make all hacking sites like that.
