Cloaky Camping - From a Wormholer's Perspective

Agree. Can someone please elaborate on how to counter AFK camping? Apart from waiting until downtime for those few seconds where the guy relogs and he MIGHT be visible on dscan.

You can’t.

But they will said " when he drop you". So the only counter is to have backup ready for a trap H24.It why cloack need a nerf. If cloack need backup he can’t AFK any more.
But pvp bear defend cloacky beacause they want easy KM.

And you could see as bad are they as when they try to argument and do’nt know mechanic. For exemple when they said “light you’re cyno”. But CCP have remove cyno from near all ship. It means to counter they you need farm in recon/BO capable ship OR have multiple account. To counter 1 cloacky dude.

solution nerf cloack to make you can’t do that for eternity and game will be a lot healthier. And yes we could imagine new way to help roammer to get prey (and without removing local… beacause cloack is not the counter of local, local is counter by free intel people have on what youa re doing witht the map).

And there it is. The reason why something has to be done with cloaky camping.

I don’t have a problem with the aspect of cloaky campers. My problem is that there is no direct counterplay.

It’s problem of everyonne*.

  • But pvp bear don’t want beacause other case they will take risk , and they are more risk averse than they’re prey.

Ye… was thinking that introducing passive heat dmg would fix afk camping. After an hour of non-stop clop cloak the module would fail. (with thermodynamics at V).

Make it so that each cloak cycle that occurs on repeat does the effect of heat dmg.

Stopping auto-cycle prevents heat dmg.

Or have it blow up after a set of repeated activations, say… 10

NOTE: WILL NOT EFFECT ANY CYCLE THAT WAS CANCELED

I have seen it, so sure they do it.

Only if I had petitioned it and by the time I found out my group had collapsed, and I got to know two players with them and decided to let it go. We are not all mean and vindictive you know. So yes a cool story, because I was cool

Except that they were, the difference was that there was a lot less people with BLOP’s. I even had the pleasure of being dropped on by Tek Ethandu (name from memory) a rather legendary Stain Empire FC who failed to catch me with a BLOP’s drop. Aligned Drake for the win!!!

Fun times…

I used to do that.

The best thing thing about belt ratting was that you could move around, that is why I ended up having 14 alts around me by the end of one campaign against me in Stain.

I had one Russian Guy who would drop off his main in a Legion and I would move next door and an hour later he would appear in local. I would wait a bit and go next door and an hour later he appeared again. He was supposed to be their top hunter, he never got a single kill on me…

In the end there was no counter in terms of trying to develop a group of players, most players are only interested in min/maxing and if they cannot max ISK they tend to decide it is not worth doing. I am of the mind that I would like people in space doing stuff, AFK cloaky camping prevents that so needs to be nerfed in some way.

No. You just need a counter ready when you are ratting

No. You just need a cloaky with a cyno watching while you rat ready to bring in your counter fleet which also only needs to be ready when you rat. And your everyday Ishtar could counter 1 cloaky dude. You need to counter the Blops fleet.

Not my problem

Like this?

Missed that one! Almost like people are going to the old forums and finding my post collecting those bad ideas.

Okay…I’ll play. How many players did you “see” do this? And where did you “see” this?

This sounds rather pricey just to try and circumvent free intel most players do not even realize exists. ■■■■ when I posted the heat map in the AFK cloaking thread the response was, “Holy crap…I didn’t know about that!”

It’s problem of everyonne beacause it hurt the game popualtion.

And re read you, you admit i have reason.

Is what you should be saying about injected camping alts.

Really?

Why can’t you just warp away?

Fixed

I admit that people don’t like AFK cloaky campers. CCP has said it’s not an exploit. Contrary to popular opinion there is counterplay. (Not simple “scan down a cloaked ship” counterplay, but counterplay that takes some effort commensurate with the ISK being earned)

So I don’t see where I admitted that you have a reason

Okay so you won’t answer the questions. I’ll discount appropriately then. Thanks.

The difficulty with a statement like this is it’s unprovable and pretty much unquantifiable. Cloaky camping was possible when the game was growing year on year, when it was declining year on year and in the last few years where the population has been pretty stable.

So if it is removed/counterable with additional tools, how many more people are going to login and actively play? 10, 100, 1000, 10000?

Just as a guess, how significant is it going to be in population if CCP add more tools for nullsec?

It would probably be like what happened to highsec - they decided that hunting players and wardecs were upsetting players, so CCP took away the tools to engage in that way - now the players engage in much more semi-random violence, such as blanket wardecs and suicide ganking.

I’m not sure what these alleged afk-cloakers will do if the rules change. I suspect that these guys are not NEARLY as afk as people on the forums would have you believe.

I’m pretty sure a lot of them aren’t actually afk, but I’d still like something to be done about the afk ones nonetheless.

So you think that someone sits and stares at the EVE screen for an hour, 2 hours, 23 hours? Without DOING ANYTHING?

I find that hard to believe people won’t even watch the screen when mining much less AFK.

Salt, I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make.

He is pretending that alts don’t exist. That somebody can’t have one of the cloak-campers open on one screen while the player is doing something else on another character.
