Cloaky Camping on Multiple Accounts

I use my alts to afk cloak just to mess with the botters and ratters, You know the ones who want to make billions with 0 risk :stuck_out_tongue:
Its actually quite fun to watch so many ratters dock up and hide instead of coming to fight. Its a 2 way street

It’s a condition called Pixel Fear, and everyone in nullsec suffers from a terminal case of it…

Scared to death of the possibility of PvP in a PvP game…

You know that a blops fleet can be counterdropped, right? A blops drop is not a one-way, dead-end street (like your alliance), but I guess this logic is lost to most null sec carebears that are afraid of a cloaked ship.

On a max skill character, a single pass of combat probes is about 4.5 seconds. Assuming the target requires no align time, only half a second of time is left to warp to target and engage.

Superficially, Botters and the use of a macro easily defeat this mechanic.

Because nothing was done about it?

The real tears start to flow when they do probe you down, but they still can’t warp to you because you’re sitting inside the sun, lol. Love doing that…

Sounds like exploiting a flaw of the game to me?

How is a limitation of the game engine an exploit? Anyone can fly inside of the sun or any other orbital body anywhere in the game. This has been possible since day one…

While it has been possible for a long time, CCP messed up when they recently changed the game for it to be impossible to warp to those locations, but still allow players to fly there.

It’s not some sort of obvious misuse of obtuse game mechanics. Meaning that as long as CCP doesn’t state it to be an exploit, it isn’t one.

Oh I agree.

I just think CCP should fix it already. If players cannot warp into planets and suns they shouldn’t be able to fly there either.

That’s a valid stance. Personally I’d say that CCP should just improve the whole planet/sun/moon situation to be less silly, but that would probably put it at the back of the queue… somewhere 2029.

Like I said, it’s a limitation of the game engine. The sun and planets aren’t physically there. They are hollow spheres. What are they going to do? Put a ten million kilometer invisible hitbox around them?

Yes?

Sounds like an easy fix.

They could add a nice ā€˜your ship crashed onto a planet/sun’ killmail too.

Doubt it. Players have been whining about bumping for 20 years and there’s nothing they can do about that either…

Bumping is a lot harder to fix without causing other gameplay issues than it is to make the interior of celestials off-limits.

You still don’t quite seem to get the fact that this has been a thing for 22 years now. It’s not gonna happen…

You didn’t realize that it only happened in the last couple of years that CCP made the interior of celestials un-warpable. They’ve made changes to the 22 years old engine and they too can make new changes to how celestials work.

I remember my newbie days, I made so many fun bookmarks in and next to planets that I could warp to.

Yes and it took them 20 years to do that. I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you…

I know it’s a minor change, doesn’t impact many players and thus unlikely to be fixed. But unlike you I do think it’s an easy straightforward fix.
