MOAR CODE LESS TRIGS !!!
I’m just waiting till you can get a Trig industrial… their key-chain so fits well with the venture aesthetic
“we are doing elite pvp” as they said lol
so funny
I am calmer and I do feel better. Thank you Morgan Freeman.
You’re several years late…
well, hard to make an observation from -before- you join something
You seem to be quite a few years behind.
FACT: Eve is NOT a sandbox.
It is a sandbox. Sandcastles are not meant to stay forever.
…is what was written. And it was answered with:
YOU… are not CODE.
That said, a permit hardly matters. I am sure some check before ganking and some don’t, but the only reason to check before hand is because its helpful to keep your story (and psychological abuse) straight AFTER the gank. And there are a million stories to choose from to excuse the gank, which is why permits are useless.
This sort of thing is standard among bullies and well known to anyone who knows anything about them. They don’t have a rule system. They have a fear system. If they adhered to rules the sheep would obey the rules and stop fearing them. The the best rule system for a bully is the kind of rule system that is simply impossible to obey, which is basically a counterfeit rule system. The code of CODE is a fine example, and buying a permit is just selling your soul for cheap.
There’s no such thing as a “bully” in a world in which:
- Everyone can train for, purchase, and use weapons in equal capacity
- Everyone is immortal/uninhibited by disparities in physical capability, disabilities, etc
You’re not victims, you’re cowards. There’s a difference.
I was not speaking of the in game aspect of bullying only. I was also speaking of the IRL aspect of bullying using the game as a tool for it.
Also you failed to include the psychological aspect of bullying and chalked it up to just in game physical loss.
Further, whatever abilites one trains hardly matters to a fight when they are in a frieghter or mining ship. Its like people with swords attacking people with spoons.
And “use” weapons in equal capacity? No they can’t. A month old player in a venture is no match for even a two week old player in a catalyst, and that is not eve accounting for IRL abilities with keyboard and mouse yet, or even combat experience. And even if they change ships they may not be able if they have been focusing on mining skills. Some people don’t want to fight but actually like industry and mining. Attacking those people is bullying. Its simple to understand.
Yes yes, killing players in a video game means you’re a sociopath in real life. Any other bits of wisdom you want to impart to us, aside from this twenty-year-old meme?
Hire an escort. If you’re going to start making real-life parallels, business post security guards to protect their employees and assets.
And a new player will use it as a learning experience, and adapt to the freshly-learned reality of the game. Unless they’re a whiny crybaby, in which case they’ll complain on the forums instead.
Look, I personally don’t mind this, because the writing exercise helps me stay sharp, but when you write something like that, you make it completely obvious. I recommend adjusting your wording the next time.
Its not that simple. If your mind can tolerate only black and white, then no. If you can understand shades of grey, its a pretty large red flag. More red flags are the things that get typed into chat and on the forums after, as well as the length of time someone keeps doing it despite, or perhaps due to, the amount of grief they become a target of.
Keep your eye on those who seem to say “salt” every other word.
This game really is a magnet for sociopaths because other games tend to be less tolerant. EVE really isn’t just another MMORPG.
Interesting claim, seeing as how sociopaths are clinically predisposed toward not seeking out environments and experiences in which they must ostensibly and intentionally display their sociopathic characteristics, and instead preferring solitude, or environments in which human interaction is ordinary.
who necro’d this crap thread?
You talk as if you are an authority. But I get the feeling you are not doing well in school. I think you read something somewhere, but did not really understand it. Got a link?
Damn, this guy is good. He goes straight for the academic jugular.
Yes, gankers can be dicks about it, but they tend to keep their dickery ingame and to the forums, unlike some of the people that they gank who get all personal and threaten to take it outside of the game; now that’s a red flag.
This game really is a magnet for sociopaths because other games tend to be less tolerant.
Theoretically it’s more likely to be psychopaths than sociopaths; although both groups share traits. Furthermore, you’ll find both groups in every game out there and every walk of life; many powerful public figures are considered to be somewhat psychopathic, certain traits being very beneficial for success.
EVE really isn’t just another MMORPG.
You got that right, and it’s never been marketed as just another MMORPG either.
Very incorrect. Threats made after having buttons pushed is indicicatve of temporary anger, not a permanent mental condition. Gankers set up the situation and lost nothing they didn’t expect to lose. Why would they get mad? They used minutes of their time to waste hours of yours. They lost their expendible ship to blow up your important and expensive (to you anyway) ship. They are enjoying the pain of others. Why would they get mad when part of the point is often to goad you?
I don’t think either of us are right after reading this. I see no reason for either to be more or less common here.
