Concern about Highsec Ganking, Fake “Consequences,” and Omega Players as Farm Content

I mean… of course the buy-off-the-consequences-of-breaking-the-law system is used to buy-off-the-consequences-of-breaking-the-law, and a frequency limitation seems obvious enough that they’d have done that at the outset if they had a problem with the reformed frequently relapsing.

Thats not what I meant. ‘reformed outlaw’ very obviously refers to someone who had lived an outlaw life and now want to change his ways. Thats why they said “…would rather stop playing altogehter than grind their way back up by killing NPCs”.

That means they either were naive when implementing that system to not think about the fact that gankers would simply include the tag-costs into their profit calculations, or they intentionally wanted gankers to be able to gank and reset the sec-hit afterwards. Which they could have just said to make it absolutely clear for everyone.

First of all, they’re never going to take a stance on a gameplay style in precise terms like that, so that’s not a practical expectation, but that aside, the usage is very obvious and I think it is silly to think that they were at all surprised by it.

Yes, the reset sec mechanic is used to reset sec. It has been used that way since its implementation over a decade ago.

That’s what it is for.

dunno how long you are around, but I’ve seen so many stupid decisions that I am really convinced that CCP has far less understanding for their own game than the players. So forgive me that I am of the opinion that they are pretty naive when it comes to their players creativity…

Low sec is still Empire space. Shooting first is still a crime if they’re not a war target/criminal/suspect.

Sounds like these players needed to harden up.

Why do you actually think crimes should be punished? For what reason? Why should the developers enforce ‘serious’ consequences? It’s like playing Monopoly and you are complaining rent is too high, so you want the developers to rewrite the game so that people can get housing assistance. It’s just not going to happen, so you are literally wasting your time even trying to discuss it. This is why most of the people in this forum are just mocking the idea.

Hint: The developers want miners to die.

I honestly have no idea what you’re going on about Aiko. Are you saying that we should simply remove all rules, and convert the entirety of EVE to Null? No CONCORD anywhere. Every day can be burn Jita day. Imagine how much fun you’d have!

I’d be fine with no CONCORD anywhere, yes.

I think it would improve the game immensely. However, I’m not crusading to try and change the game. The developers have implemented a limited safety net, and the question here is why do you feel it should be changed? Why do you even think anyone will listen to you? It’s one thing to post about how CCP should nerf ganking, but it’s a special kind of insanity to waste your time beating a dead horse and endlessly harping on about it. You can see for yourself that the vast majority of the forum users are wholly against the idea - it’s not happening, but feel free to keep wasting your time on it. I just wonder why? Do you have a lossmail you can link, so we can understand your special interest in this game mechanic?

I wasn’t crusading to change the game in the post you replied to? I was merely pointing out that low sec, while lacking CONCORD, is still Empire space, and thus follows Empire laws. Namely in that banditry and murder is generally frowned upon by the powers that be. Which is why you still get the Criminal timer if you pod someone in low sec, and CONCORD will blow up your ship if you jump into high sec afterwards.

I mean, come on. you’ve posted quite a few times in favor of your idea that security tags should be more difficult or impossible to find. Now look, if you don’t want to explain that silly idea, that’s fine with me. It’s best to move on and accept that the developers have already established what they consider to be an appropriate balance. No amount of discussion will change that.

Yes. I do believe that the current form of security tags is stupid.

I would be entirely okay if they followed the format of the Empire tag turn in missions where you’re told “Bring me x20 bronze tags", and they do a one time boost to your standing in exchange. I’d even be okay with the missions renewing every say…six months. I simply think the current infinite turn in system is stupid.

As for why I’m here? I’m bored at the office with nothing better to do. I imagine why you’re here is similar.

Regardless, my other post was about a different part of that system. I was merely pointing out how the game works.

I mean, that’s great… but why tell anybody?

That’s like… just complaining.

Congratulations, you just figured out what 50% of the internet is used for! ;D

Again. At work. Bored. Nothing better do do while I wait for tickets to come in.

I hope you find something!!!

And what could be of better value than debating with the Empress of space herself?

Agreeing!

So about this, do you think Eve should have a universe wide, and permanent, Corruption effect in place? All of high sec becomes low sec, and all of low sec becomes null sec?

This sounds hella fun to me, but I also enjoyed Blackout.

You’re probably one of the few who did. Didn’t Eve lose like 50% of it’s active player count within the first month or something?
