Constantly Disconnects "The Socket is closed"

Just had my dc one hour ingame …

This is getting seriouly ridiculous… and i’m still waiting for a reply to the ticket i posted yesterday

I waited a week for a reply and then got this as i a reply: https://support.eveonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/201827699--The-Socket-was-closed-message

Cynical as i said. Like we would be totally dumb and didnt read this yet.

I would believe in that post only if it wasn’t 60 mins disconnection after the log in… that’s what makes that post total bull-sh*t!

I’ll give you the update of my ticket of the other day, at least this time GM Spider seems to have done some proper forward of the information i gave her!

Hi there, I am GM Spider.

I have forwarded some relevant user information which will help a specialist team within CCP make some adjustments to hopefully prevent this issue from occurring in the future. I can only sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and let you know that this matter is being looked into.

If you have some experience with computers then you could try using a VPN or an alternate DNS such as Google DNS. Please note that the following web site is produced by a third party and we can not be responsible for its contents:

How to Switch to OpenDNS or Google DNS

Let me know if the problem persists or if you have any questions.

Hello GM Spider!

Ths for your answer, i really appreciate the forward to the specialist team.
Luckly for me the inconvenience is just a bit boring, since i’m a mission runner with a char almost 11 years old as you can immagine no mission is really hard, and since i know exactly when the client will disconnect me i put myself in almost safe situation by the time that i know i will get disconnected, but i can only imagine for pvpers or other kind of players that this will be a really major issue for them.

Let me add some info that hopefully will help them, it’s clearly a sort of check that the server does on the clients after 60 mins exact since if it was an isp problem on my side the problem will occur randomly and would never have such a precise timing, for example i’ve logged at 7.00.07 this morning, exactly at 8.00 the client closed.
If it was an isp problem on my side the Launcher too would been affected instead i can relaunch the game after a second since that one is not affected at all.

If one of those specialist want to check with me logged in can just contact me in-game, i’m mostly online every day since 7.00 am to 7-8.00 pm (in game time) so they can monitor exactly when and why the server/client stop interacting.

I’ve google dns, but i would agree on a isp problem on my side only if the error wasn’t so specific as you can guess it’s impossible that my isp knows 60 mins exact of in-game, the error would be every hour for example if the error was on my side at 7.15 would be every hour 8.15 9.15 and so on… not after 60 mins of the char logged…

I really hope you can find a fix for this annoying thing!

Have a nice sunday Andrea

Hi again,

Thanks for the detailed response. I can’t really speak for the team doing the investigation but some progress is definitely being made on the matter. The information I forwarded is enough for them to conduct the investigation and we have server side logging tools which also help us when it comes to disconnection patterns on specific user client sessions, so while the gesture is greatly appreciated, we will not need to ask you to go out of your way to conduct any further tests. Hopefully this will simply be resolved soon and you can get back to your normal playing routine. Until then I thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

I’m not gonna say all will be good in no time… but at least it seems that this time they are taking the tickets seriously!

Wow this GM is really someone who wants to help, not like mine. So its def a problem on their side. Thanks man

After one of my hourly dc today, i had the first time the error to have a black screen and getting socket closed error when i tried to login

I really don’t know what to tell to you… after the downtime so far i’ve always been logged and got no disconnection at all… i really don’t know where the problem can be at this point (of course is on the server for sure)… and seems that’s different for everyone… and this sounds even more crazyer…

I am testing atm. I do a protocol and watch if something changes

Join the Help Chat channel. Since I’ve done so, I’ve yet to have a single socket disconnect.

This i did like 2 weeks ago, changed nothing. Has nothing to do with steady incoming data stream.

Have you tried using a VPN?

No but does this fix the problem that only one character gets dced? As for now its pretty clear that its on CCPs side.

You want to follow the OSI model on this. Connect to a VPN and attempt. Going to the Session and Application portions of it is just bad trouble-shooting. Regardless of whether or not you think it will work, it’s just good practice. Try making adjustments at the Network level before that and see if it resolves your issue.

I dont want to do anything at my network at this point tbh. I called my ISP and everything is fine. Since we have no issues during the week and only on weekends i doubt that its an issue of my connection. And in addition i dont have any experience in network things.

Again, you’re not testing it. You can claim it’s CCP all you want, but at this point you don’t know definitively. If you’re unwilling to try an easy trouble-shooting step, stop posting about it altogether please.

If you think so. Just ignore the expierence of all others here which are exactly the same … I DONT test anything when i dont have the knowledge what i do. You can say what you want. I could do things worse and i dont want this. You have to include everything not only my case and then you will see that its not my connection alone. But i bet you will have another statement why i am wrong.

Btw i can post what i want. CCP has to look into it and the fact that they are investigating shows that there is something wrong.

You can refuse to do basic trouble-shooting and blame CCP for it all you want, but I don’t see why anyone should care. This issue has been around longer than you’ve been playing the game. If you don’t want the issue, try other things yourself. Whining about here doesn’t do you any good.

yeah there are helpful people and then there is you …

I’m literally offering you free trouble-shooting advice. You’re just too lazy to do it.
