Contest Submissions - Name Our Meeting Rooms – Round Two!

Tengu
Few capsuleers would make claims of another hull being it’s equal, fewer still it’s better. Since it emerged in New Eden it has been a workhorse of perfection. Resilient and adaptable, the capabilities of this ship far surpass that of any similar hull. Limited only by the creativity of it’s pilot, the Tengu has long been the single answer for the most common question in Eve Online; “What ship should I use?”.

Typhoon

Years ago, when I was but a week or two in pod, I was brought under the wing of another pilot. He mentored me, advised me, showed me how to find a path to my own ends, and along the way, he gifted me with a Typhoon. I was entirely unskilled and could in no way pilot it, or afford it myself, but with it sitting in my hangar, I was always reminded to continue on, to strive to pilot it and well enough to not lose it in a few seconds of battle. Since then, I have always kept a Typhoon close at hand, as they will always remind me of the friendship, cooperation, struggles and aspirations of being a pilot in New Eden.

Astero

It’s almost as if this ship was made for me, a peaceful explorer, always keeping an eye out for those in mortal peril. Not only is the Astero a very suitable ship for exploration, as fellow explorer Katia Sae has demonstrated, it is also one of the few ships capsuleers can fly that is build for saving lives instead of killing them and therefor I’m very fond of it. Maybe I’m the only capsuleer to use this ship for this purpose, performing search and rescue patrols to find those jettisoned in space at the border gates of the Amarr Empire or left behind in wrecks, but at least there is one.

Vigilant

When I first started playing I was mostly mining with a bit of high sec ratting thrown in. The only ship I had to do both with for a while was a Procurer. The system I was living in at the time in Everyshore had one of those Abandoned Mining Colonies. After I was finished mining for the night I would fly there and kill rats since it had cruisers and not just the frigates I mostly saw. One day I flew there and there was a special cruiser with the name Shadow Serpentis something. It was a tough fight for me because I did not eve have Drones V yet so only could put four hob 1’s out. After I killed them in the Shadow wreck there was a bpc for a Vigilant. At the time I had no idea how rare that occurrence was. I asked around and was told it was a good ship but needed lots of skills. I started skilling into it in between mining skills and even mined most of the materials myself (making it free of course)! This is what lead me to leave mining and do mostly combat exploration, DED sites and the like. This was in 2014 and I still mostly do the same thing. I still have the ship, parked in my hanger waiting for me. I parked it because it’s a good ship but not really all that good for PVE.

Kestrel

I don’t think I could top giving praise to the Kestrel the way I did with this poem in poetry class at the Nani-Archur Naval Institute:
Three GE20, balanced with three cargo holds
An LW-80 around which the spacetime folds
With Tovosko mainframe and Harpoon mark 2
And Hypnos 1000 your missiles strike true
Kaskia propulsion to swiftly cross the battlefield
Coupled with Haskolo to regenerate emitted shield
Propel Dynamics TR-10 for controlling the yaw
And turning with a grace to leave enemies in awe
Infinity mark 5 to provide power to it all
The Kestrel may not be big, but it certainly isn’t small

VIATOR

The Viator class blockade runner, Gallente in origin, is used to deliver small-volume high-value cargoes. It is a popular choice for capsuleer thrill-seekers who deliver their own valuables and professional courier contract haulers. The Viator best tanks for agility; if you tank it any other way you diminish the capabilities of the ship.

Courier hauling requires preparation, intelligence, and cunning. Done correctly, it is a quiet business with few stories to tell other than some interesting places visited and some adventurous escapes. Done poorly, it ensures personal poverty and gives ganks and griefers their daily loot haul. Professional haulers seek to deny pirates their loot while risking billions of ISK in collateral to make millions in reward. The small-volume high-risk courier contracts must flow.

The Friendship

Although not a ship per se “The Friendship” remains a staple of most of the corporations in EVE online from the most ruthless Pirate corporations of Lowsec, The Huge Empires of Nullsec, Elite Wormhole Pvpers down to the New player friendly corps of Highsec.

Without Friendship EVE online as we know it wouldn’t exist, even as players leave for new corporations or alliances the friendship can often remain between the vast reaches of space.

I have joined and left a number of corporations however I continue to remain friends with many players from previous corporations from friendly corporations and alliances to some which would be considered enemies in the game.

The Friendship is not a flyable ship however it does have an in game item as a special edition commodity and is a major part of all eve players journeys through New Eden.

The best ship in EVE is the Friendship.

Hurricane

One of the famous ships in Eve Online which is liked by old and new players alike. Hurricane gives players abilitly to perform multiple roles in kitchen sink fleets. Also its module slot avalability gives it both short range and artilerry capacity which is very useful for long range engagements and gate camps.

I still remember the time when I bought my first Hurricane back in 2009. I liked it immediately and I still love it today…

Heron
Incursion runners told me: “Get a Heron.” My Heron picketed at gates, hacked Logistics Control Arrays with five data modules only a Heron can fit. We dove in like Leeroy Jenkins to draw Incursion rats close then warped quickly away. We cloaked for Concord money. The Heron can combat probe. My Heron collected lost drones: Geckos, ‘Augmented’ Ogres, T2 Logibots, drones of all type- billions of isk collected. When chances are you will die, a 3 million isk Heron hacks nearly as well as any covert ops ship with 1/30th the loss mail. No one expects the Tackle Heron. The Heron is so good we overlook that it looks like it was made from LEGO blocks.

Heron

This ship will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve been playing oh, about three months now, and have been specializing exclusively in Exploration. Despite being told that the Astero is the be all end all for exploration, my Heron got the job done in low, null, and W-Space for a fraction of the cost. Although I now have enough ISK to upgrade, my Heron (lovingly named Narset) will always hold that nostalgia factor as my first ship (or, more accurately, ships–darn exploration hunters!). Besides, “The Heron Room” just sounds nice.

Stratios

When you have a task to be done - be it finding something new, or dealing with a “problem” - this is the ship you can rely on. A ship that is designed to brave come what may, for however long it takes, is a ship worth flying.
Agility, efficiency, resilience. Characteristics that are essential to find success, are found in the Stratios - making the ship an embodiment of some of the best traits that exists in all of us. The ship was also made to aid those that seek without giving up; the extension of a stuborn mind.
If adventures comes knocking, I hope I’m in the Stratios.

Traffic Control Room

It could be for a Room with White furniture and massive Glass stuff or a round table in it. Like the ship. Fast decisions to be done, streamlining design, cloaky and good for new stuff like exploring features generating content or even nice for a hunt . Always good for a good potion of inspiration.

Fly Smart, Fly fast, fly dangerous

Terror

HMS Terror was a specialized warship and a newly developed bomb vessel constructed for the Royal Navy in 1813. She participated in several battles of the War of 1812, including the Battle of Baltimore with the bombardment of Fort McHenry. She was converted into a polar exploration ship two decades later, and participated in George Back’s Arctic expedition of 1836–1837, the Ross expedition of 1839 to 1843, and Sir John Franklin’s ill-fated attempt to force the Northwest Passage in 1845, during which she was lost with all hands along with HMS Erebus .

Yes, not a ship class in Eve but it bloody well should be. Perhaps a battleship sized bomber.

Catalyst

No other ship was so commonly used for both making wreckage and cleaning it up. Gank swarms of them were common and solo missioneers would often turn to a salvage rigged catalyst as a decent way to sweep a battlefield. The name itself evokes the concept of assisting in reaction, change.

The Guristas Garden

More a “brand” of ships than an individual ship, the Guristas ships are by far my favorite ships in the game. As a newer player I was unsure where to put skill points to be effective at the various PvE tasks I attempted in my first couple months. This resulted in a scattered skill plan and sub-par performance on my part. The Guristas ships provided me with a way to be very effective with sub-par skills and continue to progress and enjoy the game.
Later down the line, once I get more support skills fleshed out, the Guristas ships will still be there for me, allowing me to be competitive and stylish.

The Cormorant Corner

The Cormorant is a beautiful sleek ship that is very accessible and can perform very well in multiple situations. Because of this many people have fallen in love with it. My first Cormorant I got from the Advanced Military Career Path is what drew me in to this game. The upgrade from a Merlin with 3 turrets to the abundance of turret slots on a Cormorant was thrilling for me. This ship got me almost all the way through the SoE epic arc and was what taught me the intricacies of ship fitting for specific missions.
Even today I enjoy running level 2 missions in a rail-fit, or taking a no-prop blaster Cormorant and sitting in Faction Warfare plexes for a bit of PvP fun, or fitting Salvagers and Expanded Cargoholds for a cheap, easy to fit salvage ship. You are only limited by your imagination!

Venture
Starting EVE over again with nothing but a week of skill points and one ship, what would you fly? The Venture is the ship for me. The Venture represents things a successful company should consider: it earns safe and steady income yet can take risks in uncharted territory. Venture pilots can earn great profit or great fun in unexpected places because we are not afraid to fail. A Venture can escape changing situations while bigger slower ships get caught and die. A Venture Pilot relies on a beautiful and balanced design. Every player from newest to oldest has respect for the little Venture. It’s not the biggest but is one of the best. Its a worthy example to follow.

HURRICANE ROOM

In any tech company there are days (or nights) when time is of the essence and speed is required: be it fire-fighting, bug-fixing, brainstorming or simply meeting a deadline. If you are invited to the Hurricane Room then know that the team/fleet is in a hurry. Please fit a mental afterburner or MWD before joining.

The ship name itself, as well as its sleek design suggest the above. Whatever faction or department you belong to, this ship is a good fit : fast, resilient and effective in a wide variety of combat scenarios. She can even fit a command module to assist fellow fleet members. I simply love this ship: a real team player that has never let me down.
