I noticed this as well, when it starts taking half shield damage now, it just bugs off. They basically changed the game mechanics and force you now to use webs, there’s no other way anymore to kill it.
You either need webs or multiple ships to apply enough DPS before it bolts. I haven’t tried scrams or disruptors. Loot is still horrible.
The cruiser is easily killed with a Gila with heavies or rapid lights. He stays at 34-36km if you kite him. Just have him run into your missiles, he dies. I can run it usually inside of 5-6 minutes, solo.
Tried this since yesterday mornings patch? He warps away at 5 minutes if not pointed. You take 6 minutes at 34-36km now and you’ll get nothing but the view of the back of his ship as he leaves.
any defrence in the loot that drop in low/high/null?
I’ve haven’t had any hard times killing the cruiser before It warps, unless I spend too long farming the little sleeper drones. Use this fit, and you can just sit at warp-in and kill the Drifter in about 2 minutes.

Just bring along an MTU or replace the cap charger with an MWD to get the loot. I’ve been using a little more expensive version of this fit and sailing through these sites.

your sample is too low.
Also there are three types of accelerators that drop.
No kidding.
I could really go for some type of message in local detailing if/when the cruiser fires its ecm cause its frustrating as hell to have no idea that the pve site is ecming your drones while it orbits you at 1800 m/s and scrams you if you catch up to it with an mwd hecate.
Its fine by me if ccp doesnt want people afk running sites in VNIs using drones but at least give me some detail as to how the npcs are interacting with me when they target drones so that I’m not maxing out the lifespan of my F key.
Here is the Ashimmu fit that I am testing out.
I was able to catch up with the Drifter Cruiser rather easily and webbed him with two Tech II webbers. If I would have had drones and Multi frequency crystals I would have taken him. The fit is also somewhat cap intensive.
Re-fit and heading out again.
With the Ashimmu you want to let the Cruiser burn out to the 35 km orbit and then MWD out to it in order to stay away from the frigate DPS.
Once close enough to avoid being scrambled you can alternate the webs while managing the cap batteries and Nos to defeat the Drifter cruiser.
The only bad thing about the Ashimmu fit is that you have to use a Citadel after every site to repair your modules with.
The Ashimmu is a good support ship for the events but is not able to solo the cruiser.
Done the BS site. Deimos as a tackle and Vindi as a DPS platform. Took me a while to catch him, but eventually had him webbed and then grappled. Site despawned during the fight but had a point so it was even better, I left with a BS only.
Deimos was primaried but it held at 100% armor. Cap stable fit with MWD and single repper. Vindi was barely scratched at the shield. Combined dps of 1860.
1 basic accelerator and data library as a reward …
So really not much ado about the BS sites then.
Did next one and it dropped basic accelerator, apotheosis bpc and claw skin, so it was better.
It was also fun and went faster so I’ll stick to those for a while.
Did you get my convo invite?
No. Different character
I tried convoing you to see if you wanted to run the fleets together.
I’ll be leaving soon. 12 at night already and gotta get up for work early
Good luck then.
I’m disappointed at the event and it’s design by CCP. It seems like it’s not something every player can participate in. From the description of the event CCP gave us about there being different levels of play including solo, etc. I have found that it’s not possible to solo them as a newer player.
As an example, the ships that players are talking about here and on other websites as having used are not ones that everyone could fly, and everything in EVE takes a huge time to train.
Yes, I know there is a bounty component, but are the rewards the similar for bounties and the event sites? No.
